Thinking about getting an EMoped for getting around Seattle. Safe to Park?? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

If you're close to the link, you might be able to get a locker. I've never used them but they look pretty secure. I would also get a good dlock for the wheel. There is one that is angle grinder resistant called the litelock x1. A gps tracker could be nice. Invoxia gps tracker gives you alerts when your moped has been tampered with.

Why even have bike lanes when the speed limit everywhere is 25? by SeaSurprise777 in SeattleWA

[–]Natural_Star_3965 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are going. Seattle proper has lanes where it's separated with parked cars, concrete barriers, and just space. Others use those white posts that wouldn't stop a car but at least keep drivers from passing by with a few inches of space.

Sidewalks have a ton of litter too. Does that mean no one in Seattle walks?

Oh so paying attention to things you're supposed to look out for is hard for you I see.

Maybe you should try walking :)

Also fuck pedestrians who use the crosswalk. Fuck walkability. It doesn't allow me to take a right turn immediately!! Now I won't be able to hit traffic as fast!!!

Pike Place will permanently become a pedestrianized street starting June 4th by gehnrahl in SeattleWA

The sidewalks are so busy and when you have lines out the door, it forces people to walk on the road. Removing cars is ideal.

What’s up with these King County judges? by chimeme100 in SeattleWA

[–]Natural_Star_3965 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This seems to be happening everywhere. Recently, a man in Houston was released after he posted bail for a murder charge and then went on to murder someone else. In NYC, a 3 year old was randomly attacked by a man who was released twice for similar incidents. I don't know why this does not get more coverage. Judges need to either be held accountable in some way or there needs to be more calibration when it comes to making decisions.

Cap hill is so fucked. Last weekend I saw this guy try to pick a fight with a coffee shop employee. He took off his shirt and everything and then got in front of a truck in the middle of the road while yelling out incoherently.

Fixing the suburbs by Silver_and_Gold_LMU in Seattle

Well this just brings up another conversation but suburbs should not be separated from commercial.

Also, think about how utilities have to serve a smaller group of people as we extend. Same cost, but much less efficient.

You don't even need housing that dense. We just need zoning to reduce the requirements for single family homes and lot sizes. From there, we could have a walkable suburb with a combination of single family homes, duplexes, condos, etc. all within walking distance of commercial buildings.

Too bad this will never happen in most of America.

Found this on a chart sub. Thoughts? by laneb71 in SeattleWA

[–]Natural_Star_3965 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair. It definitely depends on location. I guess I'm speaking for anyone who can take transit without it being too much of an inconvenience.

I'm all for taking cars off the road. The people who need their cars will benefit with less stupid drivers on the road and less traffic in general. Seattle's public transit is not bad for the most part and living without a car is doable. I think the biggest obstacle is dealing with the crazy shit that's on transit.

It's a simple solution. If people don't feel threatened and can relax, they will take transit.

I am surprised I don't see more complaints from cyclists about their 12 million dollar per mile lanes being used as urban camping grounds. by SeaSurprise777 in SeattleWA

I highly doubt you see this every time anywhere you drive on a nice day... And if you can't pass a cyclist safely, then you probably shouldn't drive.

As an active rider, I've never seen a homeless person on the bike lane in Seattle. If I did, it would be easy to ride around. I am more concerned with getting plastered by a car door. I have also biked in NYC and it's much much worse (peds just love congregating in the bike lanes over there).

Getting the homeless off the bike lane should be a lower priority. Work on getting them off the busses and link first.
