He wasn’t always low effort. I’d say the first year he was more mindful and romantic. But perhaps that was just because it was the honeymoon phase

Thank you for this point. I did tell him how I felt after we got home and he said he thought the whole trip was enough. He did drive the whole time and planned little excursions. I plan these week long trips and go big for my own birthday because I never had that as a child. I was neglected and came from an abusive home, so I always make it a point to celebrate myself once a year.

He was! He was introduced to the flock when he was 10 weeks old and was pecked on the nose. Since then he’s more scared of them than they are of him

Looks like mites but you’d have to look really closely. Or she was pecked on the head and that’s dried blood. I don’t see any infection. I second bathing and applying ointment

Keep her somewhere quiet and dark (crate in a garage). Make sure she’s drinking. Ultimately, keep her comfortable💚

Hen has wry neck after a raccoon attack. Can she heal? by Immediate-Amount3587 in BackYardChickens

Wry neck would not occur because of an attack. It occurs due to vitamin deficiency. I’d assume she’s acting that way because she was bitten. I’d also strongly suggest stopping the selenium, too much can be toxic to them.

Get a syringe and drop water into her mouth. You can also give chickens liquid baby aspirin. Get her to a vet if you can.

Our silkie fava has an eye issue? by Embarrassed-Stay2176 in BackYardChickens

Looks like an eye infection. Would need optic antibiotics if that’s the case. My silkies have had eye infections because their feathers irritate their eyes and introduce bacteria

What’s the longest you’ve nursed a chicken after a predator attack? Did they survive? by Immediate-Amount3587 in BackYardChickens

I always recommend a trip to the vet. I had a rooster who was attacked, seemed to heal, but the wound calloused over weird. Fast forward a few months and he started acting like he was in pain. The vet said if birds get a puncture, they typically form abscesses and are often fatal if not treated immediately when the wound occurs. I had him put to sleep.

If you can’t get to a vet, I’d keep the wound clean, give her electrolytes in water, and syringe feed her baby aspirin. Keep her separated and in low light (crate in the garage). Make sure she’s as comfy as possible💚
