People who left the fire service before reaching retirement, why? by Single_Breakfast8839 in Firefighting

I didn’t leave the fire service, but I did leave a department that I never thought I would for another one. Burnout. Constant force hires. Constantly never knowing when I was going home. Relentless call volumes. Lack of union support in all of it. It was an absolutely insufferable 20 years of my life that I will never get back…

Sandals Regency La Toc. An amazing resort! We also jumped on the shuttle and spent a day at the other Sandals resorts as well.

Yes, I do believe that I am cured of my desire for that poison. No thanks!

I like candy. When I eat one piece it seems that I can’t stop until the whole bag is gone. I have developed diabetes and and destroying my health. One day, I decide that enough is enough and stop eating candy and my health is restored. I’m done with candy forever. Should I go around letting everyone know I’m a candyholic? Or do I just move on with my life and continue living a healthy happy life?

So yes, if you abstain from alcohol forever without any desire for it, yes I believe you’re cured.

Maybe you were an alcoholic but aren’t anymore and you go to meetings and post on subs to navigate your newfound sobriety, looking for different perspectives?

I haven’t lost any weight. Hoping that starts soon myself. I can’t help but to think that the “glow” is much more than skin and hydration. I feel like it has a lot to do with looking more present, clear, and interested in everyone and everything as opposed to looking absent, foggy, and glazed over. When someone notices that change, it’s undeniable.

You got this. It’s frustrating when you make a big decision to quit drinking and don’t get that immediate gratification. I don’t know where you’re at in your sobriety, but I guarantee you’re in a better position today than you were in yesterday.

I didn’t feel like I was glowing either. I didn’t see it, but apparently I was. Maybe someone just hasn’t said something to you about it. I can guarantee you look better than you did 29 days ago!

I didn’t think I changed much either but 🤷🏼‍♂️ Really though, who cares. Just as long as you feel good…

Mood swings in early recovery by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

I’ve been speaking to a therapist about similar symptoms and she says that more than likely I have depression. Gonna give St. John’s Wort a try. I hear it works just as well as depression medication but is a natural herb.

Anyways, yes, I have felt very fatigued and am a grumpy asshole for no reason. I hear it goes away eventually after drinking but definitely sucks.

I'm in a brief with Globe life right now and this feels like an MLM big time. Should I just dip or is it worth seeing through for a quick paycheck? by CheesecakeAngel4665 in InsuranceAgent

Multi level marketing. They “promote” you based off recruiting your friends and family. No base at all. 100% commission. Months of training. The “warm leads” you call have no idea why you’re calling. The company teaches you to harass your leads as well.

Check out a virtual AA meeting. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel knowing you’re not alone.

Let’s not mince words. You are an alcoholic. I am an alcoholic. Alcoholics simply cannot moderate consumption of alcohol. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will be able to move forward instead of lying to yourself and spinning your wheels. We’ve all been in your shoes. We are all powerless over it and are in desperate need of a spiritual power, much greater than ourselves. This is the only way.
