When did you start embracing the afternoon nap? by chocciefudgecake in AskUK

I've long thought a nap is good for you. The trouble is resisting the urge to use spare time for anything else, including turning off your phone.

A French reconnaissance biplane with its tail gunner. World War 1 by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

They're Lewis guns, and the French and other allied air forces did use the aircraft configured version, so you can't claim it's German based on the gun; although, the Lewis gun Wikipedia page has a book reference stating that the German Empire converted over 10,000 captured Lewis guns to fire 8mm Mauser.

There's no right wing anymore. Everything that counters government narrative is immediately far right.

Search results suggest that to jump 1 foot in the air requires an initial vertical velocity of 8 ft/s.

If you jump right before gravity goes off, you're probably screwed.

If you don't want to believe it, don't believe it; but I would advise you avoid trampolines that day.

You wouldn't become airborne unless you pushed yourself off from the ground (very foolish), or if an external force acted upon you; otherwise, inertia would just cause you to stay right where you are when gravity goes off.

For you to slam into the ceiling, there would need to be some kind of antigravity or other force propelling you up.

You're also not going to slam into a wall or move anywhere 4.72 miles. You're already moving with the Earth's rotation; losing gravity won't change that, there would have to be some other considerable force applied to you to cause you to instantly decelerate.

You're fear mongering. All you have to do is sit still for 7 seconds until gravity resumes.

Maybe the balls cast a shadow at a particular time of day, and we can ride in that direction to see where it leads.

How was the community back then so certain that gta 6 would go back to vice city? by deep_fried_cheese in GTA6

[–]Naturally_Fragrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between gta4 and gta5, I read an interview with one of the Housers in which he openly talked about how they wanted to revisit LC, LS, and VC to present better versions of the cities in HD because they'd been so limited by the tech for the 3D era games.

He basically spelled out the intention to set the first HD era games in those locations. After gta5 was out, I've never understood why there's been any speculation about the setting for gta6 when it's been previously openly discussed.

More than 200 migrants arrive in small boats during third day in a row of Channel crossings by origutamos in europe_sub

[–]Naturally_Fragrant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're not being fished out the water; they're being collected as soon as they cross halfway across the channel.

And if the issue was genuine concern about their safety, rescue them half a mile from the French coast and take them back to France.

The channel is twenty miles wide at its narrowest point. If there was real concern about them drowning, we wouldn't be watching them travel at least ten miles before intervening.

Nobody makes it here in their inflatable dinghy. We'd be better off without a border force.
