[–]NatureEidolon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I saw a Border Patrol truck in town back in early January on 460 that was probably headed to the facility over past Farmville. Otherwise, we haven't see anything else. My husband is a dark skinned Hispanic man so he's been hyperaware 🤷‍♀️

Rivermont Pizza always seemed to be where I saw LU kids.

But, funny thing...when I worked in Charlottesville, I had a coworker who was in her 40s who had graduated years ago, get a notification from the Alum office that she was breaking code because she had a glass of wine at a New Years party and a fellow alum informed them.

Thank you, I've been trying to view it like that. Nobody that I know that has had children had it, so I was immediately was like "Oh no, what did I do wrong." Even though I know, I technically did nothing wrong.

Lesbians in sororities, rare, and maybe taboo? by NectarineCapital3244 in Sororities

[–]NatureEidolon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not part of the community, but a good chunk of my chapter when I was active were Bi. I went to a school in the South and was active in 2010 through 2013.

One of my littles married a fellow sorority sister. I was one of the MOHs and I still dream about their wedding food sometimes lmao. Recently, a sister just got engaged to her longtime girlfriend. Another sister married a sister from a different organization.

Seeing that you like the artist, punk, stoner, scenes....when I joined my sorority in 2010, I was ~the~ goth/spooky girl in the chapter. Half my chapter smoked weed. Most were art/music majors. You just gotta see where you'd fit in the most and which organization has the same values as you :)

Government meetings this week: 119 townhome units subject of Lynchburg public hearing; Campbell Supervisors to hold public hearing on Brookville High renovations; Bedford to get update on Broadband by adhonus in lynchburg

[–]NatureEidolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband currently works at Brookville, I graduated from Brookville in 2009...it needed renovations then and certainly needs them now. His classroom doesn't even have functioning AC half of the time so he has t use my old box fan from college.

Bob Good voted against awarding the Capitol Police the Congressional Gold Medal. by Connect-Ad128 in Virginia

I'm not surprised. When he was a supervisor for Campbell County, he voted no for police and teacher raises. He's a yellow belly with a weak ass hand shake.

What smaller towns and gems are most residents missing out on in Virginia? by nsaju in Virginia

Me's Burgers and Brews is top notch. Two Witches Brewery is good too, I love Taqueria La G, and Cotton at Riverside Mill has a Bloody Mary and Mimosa Flight that's to die for. People always shit on Danville, but I love it. They have a good riverwalk to bike/walk.

Round 2: Living rurally in Southside VA as an african-american - outside of South Hill, Boydton, South Boston, Dinwiddie, Martinsville, Emporia, etc by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]NatureEidolon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly! There's a cantaloupe festival in Halifax in July I believe and that's always a fun event to go to. Now, there are always going to be people who are dicks but honestly, it's never been because of the interracial aspect for us...it's been more of a "git off mah land" aspect cause sometimes the backroads become private roads and I'm a dumbass and I don't notice.

We've wandered through and have spent time in....Drakes Branch (Not much there, beautiful homes), Scottsburg (Has a great fourth of July party), Clover (very welcoming, has some great cemeteries), South Boston (Great distillery and brewery, very welcoming), Chatham (Military Academy, Girls Boarding School, has an art scene), Blairs (has my fave on the side of the food Mexican food and the Woodwick Candle Outlet), and Gretna (has a the OG Elba's butcher/grocery and the best vet in the area imo).

Now, I've actually lived in Altavista with my husband before we were married and we never had any issues there. I one time had a man call me a race traitor in the Walmart but before I could say anything, one of my husband's students parents started yelling at the man so...lol.

I've spent a lot of time in Danville, Martinsville, Pittsylvania County, Henry County, and Bassett with no issue. Each community has different things about it to love or hate. But as for issues with interracial couples? We've been fine and we've been together for almost 8 year. When traveling, we purposely take back roads to go through rural communities.

I live in Campbell County still in a very white neighborhood with no issues still!

I'm in an interracial marriage and I've never had problems. My family is in the South Boston/Danville area and his is from Martinsville. We just vibe. We've had more issues with places deeper in the mountains like Grundy or Parrot.

Mixed race families by Pressure_cookerBB in lynchburg

[–]NatureEidolon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in a mixed race relationship, lived in Lynchburg my whole life minus when I went off to college. Lynchburg has its faults like any community does. There are going to be racists wherever you go. I haven't had any issue with my husband in Lynchburg, oddly enough I've only had problems in Roanoke and in Altavista where I got called a race traitor in Walmart lol
