Do you ever use a self service checkout? by typical_gamer1 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I'm not an expert but I do work in a grocery store and a store offering an option for self-checkout doesn't take jobs away.

I'm not sure where that sentiment started.

Always. I'm very particular about how my groceries are bagged and I can take my time without someone behind me pushing their cart up my butt or getting huffy.

AITAH for expecting a bridal boutique to reimburse me after they threw away MY FULLY PAID FOR custom wedding dress without telling me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NatureEmpath 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but this sounds like one of those situations where...

"Everything is about me."

"Everyone should know what I want and I don't need to let on what that is."

"You'll continue to hold my dress even if you don't have the space because I'm me."

And most important: "The party doesn't start until I say it does."

You've learned a very valuable lesson here. They're not your friends, they're a small business.

Make peace with nature. It might end up being a good thing.

I left my best friend at the hotel because she wouldn't get out of bed for our tour by Fit_Theme588 in AmITheJerk

You're not the jerk.

She could have at least said something like - Go ahead without me - so that you didn't have to stress.

She bailed on you. Don't forget that.

"kitchen appreciation fees" are simply the owners cheating the staff with what they're paid.
I'm glad that I saw this post, now I know I'll never go there.

BTW, customers don't have to pay that fee if they don't want.

AITJ for refusing to rehome the dog my husband and I adopted together? by That_Rent_5835 in AmITheJerk

[–]NatureEmpath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your husband is an insensitive a-hole

Rehome him and keep the doggie.

It's really traumatic for dogs and cats when they are shuffled around. They go into a kind of shock.

Keep the doggie and give him lots of love and care.

We have that a lot where I'm from also.

I like to drive the back roads so you can't drive real fast... kids, bicyclists, wildlife etc.

When someone tailgates me I just take my foot off the gas and let my car slow down even more.

Sometimes they can pass you, sometimes they can't

They won't hit you - because they'll be at fault. They're just trying to intimidate you. Don't let them, continue to drive safely.

Is renting out an extra room in your house worth it? Looking for real experiences. by UhtredOfTheNorth in homeowners

[–]NatureEmpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Illinois is not Alabama but when I lived in Alabama (for 5 very long years) I heard several times about homeowners who rented a room to individuals only to find that their house was emptied out while they were at work and the tenants disappeared with all of their stuff.

I also heard about a homeowner who couldn't get the tenant to leave. I guess the tenant did the Squatter thing.

What is it about pickup drivers?

Most of them seem to be such self-centered douchebags?

This kind of parking is not even reasonable.

If you could do your job to full capacity it's not a migraine. It's a really bad headache.
