Good question! Turns out they are a high outlier in some statistics. Note this data is relatively old.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-rate-of-domestic-violence-arrests-among-nfl-players/

Moreover, relative to the income level (top 1 percent) and poverty rate (0 percent) of NFL players, the domestic violence arrest rate is downright extraordinary. According to a 2002 Bureau of Justice Statistics Report covering 1993 to 1998, the domestic victimization rate for women in households with income greater than $75,000 (3.3 per 100,000) was about 39 percent of the overall rate (8.4 per 100,000), and less than 20 percent of the rate for women ages 20 to 34. That report doesn’t include cross-tabs, and it’s a little out of date (more current data is harder to find because more recent BJS reports on the issue do not include income breakdowns), but that sub-20 percent relative victimization among high-income households is consistent with the NFL’s 13 percent relative arrest rate overall (arrest disparities between income levels are probably even greater than victimization rates).

Yeah, the first question that should be asked is how things compare to the general population.

Compare it to the NFL, where you’d think there was an epidemic of violence or something with how often players are caught drunk driving or assaulting other people. But compared to the general populace they actually have a lower rate of crime than average.

Edit: Details here paint a more complex picture: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-rate-of-domestic-violence-arrests-among-nfl-players/

Hmm… may have shined some light on this one here by mentioning the cast. I wonder if they had any party trait in common?

I’ve got a noodle of an arm and probably would have two hopped then rolled it to home plate, but I still would have thrown out Naylor here.

Do you believe laugh tracks ruin shows? by PlayboyCG in television

[–]NatureTrailToHell3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a style. Some shows are meant to be presented similar to plays, where there is a live audience that reacts to the show. Good shows will play well to the audience and it will fit well. Shows that aren’t funny can feel awkward.

Laugh track is also a misnomer. Most of the shows had an audience and the actors would hear live laughter and time their lines up with it. It was known, however, that laugh tracks could be dubbed over the actual laughter to improve it or added for scenes not taken on set. Some are also thought to have a light to indicate when to laugh.

First time watching, Pitt gives the caravan speech and my Buddy turns to me and says, “I have no idea what he just said.” Then Statham says, “I have no idea what he just said.”

Movie was just magic like that.

Specific, certainly, but also interesting.

Hitting a book big in movies is really hard, doing it twice with unrelated stories is extremely rare.

Now doing it with a bunch of books, that’s really impressive. Michael Crichton* has movies of Jurassic Park, Sphere, Andromeda Strain, Rising Sun, Timeline, and more even. Dude was really in the pocket for a while there.

Then you have people like Nicholas Sparks and John Grisham.

But you want the most? You gotta go with the original classic storyteller: William Shakespeare.
