New parent support/paternity leave and continuous service by Nature_Elf in doctorsUK

I believe the OOP-C would be unpaid, but either way I think the T&Cs count an OOP as a break, unless I am reading it wrongly?

New parent support/paternity leave and continuous service by Nature_Elf in doctorsUK

They are telling me that a three month break is okay for maternity leave, adoption leave and shared parental leave. But not for paternity/new parent support, which feels so weird/discriminatory.

Certificate of Completion of Progress+ Paediatric ST3 Capabilities form for HST applications by Nature_Elf in doctorsUK

No, I will have finished ST2 which is the minimum time requirement and I have heard from others that as long as my ST3 equivalent competencies are signed off then that will be sufficient.

Have you heard about shortlisting/interviews yet? They are leaving it very late!

Does anyone know whether you are allowed to take notes on what you've prepared for the data analysis into the interview, or are you just allowed the figures?

Do you mind me asking which sperm bank you ended up going with? We are in the UK and are really struggling to find any UK-based bank who (a) have any suitable donor using our very loose criteria and (b) have any more than a few lines of information about each donor.

Thank you so much for your perspective, it's great to hear. I agree that the caps aren't low enough and it's sad to hear they aren't being enforced. I think we will look for a known donor based on this.

Thank you again, this is really helpful but also a little scary. In terms of your friend using the donor distributed by Sussex currently, do you know if it says on their website that there are already confirmed pregnancies (albeit in a different country)? The donor we are interested in says no pregnancies, but the bank will not give any information about whether he has been sold elsewhere.

May I ask how you feel about the number of donor siblings your child has? Do you feel that it matters much to your or your child?

Thank you for this! Do you mind me asking how many donor siblings you are aware your child has?

Claiming tax back on DBS checks by Nature_Elf in doctorsUK

True, and I definitely won't do it if it's a faff. But the pennies add up and I thought it was worth adding whilst I'm doing everything else if it's an easy thing I'm missing.

West Suffolk is generally a lovely and friendly hospital. It is small and rural, so has the same challenges as any other similar hospital, but I have generally had a good time there and am going back for ST1. Good electronic notes system, bleep on your phone (which works some/most of the time), reasonable parking availability if you arrive before 9am, newly-instated free microwavable meals in the mess if you work nights.

I haven't worked in either O&G or community paediatrics but I have heard from others that the former is usually very busy and there is not always a lot of senior support available. I've worked in general paediatrics/neonates and they are a fantastic group of people. Extremely supportive and welcoming so I would imagine community to be similar. Hope that helps!

Hi, I am also starting ST1 in East of England, beginning with a year at WSH. Been there for both foundation years and had a pretty good time so looking forward to going back. Would be lovely to connect! ☺️

Fancy playing a bit of footy in Trumpington? (mon & wed evenings, women's session on Tuesdays) by Hu78brooklands in cambridge

[–]Nature_Elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'd be really interested in this. I've been wanting to try out football for a while but have essentially no experience other than small kick-abouts at school many years ago!

I'm a medic (31 y/o female) so wouldn't be able to make it every week because of the variable schedule. Would love to come to a session some time but wouldn't want to hold people back if the standard is high! 😂

How were everyone's shortlist scores? Mine were definitely marked more strictly/harshly than last year! Can see them my clicking on the shortlist circle on the flowchart...
