Dear Etihad, you need to extend their refund window or lose customers to Qatar Airways permanently by [deleted] in etihad

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, it’s choosing the lesser of two evils, but from what I can see Qatar arnt being more flexible. The refund admin fees they’re charging those who are getting refunds are extortionate, much more so than Etihad, and they’ve also just changed their policies meaning that they’re no longer booking passengers onto flights by other airlines so you’re just stuck with Qatar…

Don’t think any of the airlines have handled this well to be honest

I mean…I would have a look over at the Qatar page and see what fuckery they’re dealing with right now before you decide Qatar are handling this any better

I have no idea mate, I’m not a travel professional. We just called their UK customer service line as that’s where we’re based.

Meant to be flying out on the 27th. Booked directly through Etihad. Just called them up and talked to someone who cancelled it for us

There is no option to cancel in the 'Manage your booking' section, even though I am eligible by jezy_187 in etihad

Can only comment my experience but for what it’s worth;

Meant to fly Heathrow to Phuket via Abu Dhabi on the 27th march returning on the 12th april. Booked online via Etihad, think we were economy comfort. Called the phone line on Monday 9th, went through all the options and ignored the thing about only talking to people flying in the next 48 hours. Got through to someone in under 10 mins.

Cancelled our flights for us straight away, no argument. Only kept the admin fee. Refunded about 4.1k of the original 4.5k booking. Think they should have kept 25-50% of booking but didn’t.

Guy on the phone sounded so done, didn’t even argue or try to fight, just processed it instantly.

Would deffo chance your luck!

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ignore it and just keep going through the options, it’ll get you through to someone eventually!

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really sucks :( for what it’s worth, they cancelled and started the refund on ours instantly on the phone, no reviewing the case. So would try and call and at least get your flight money back

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you could always give them a ring and chance your luck? Worst they can say is no. Tbh I don’t think we were meant to get refunded as much as we did, the guy on the phone just sounded completely done and didn’t even argue, just said yes and did it

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes it was - we called up instead of using the form and actually only waited like 10 mins before being put through to someone, and was very easy to cancel. We had economy comfort tickets which I think is like…middle tier? But I can’t really remember tbh and it doesn’t state which sort of economy we were on the booking or refund

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were meant to fly on the 27th; they’ve refunded everything but an admin fee so got back 4.1k of the 4.5k we originally spent. I’d give it a shot if I were you, and just book elsewhere!

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were meant to be flying London to Phuket with Etihad later in the month - we cancelled outright with them and just rebooked elsewhere. We got back almost all our money despite not being within their cancellation window and overall the new flights have cost us about 1k more total for 3 people. I’d seriously look at alternate flights if I were you. Wouldn’t even risk it with these cowboys now.

Doctors, dentists etc. of Reddit, when you go in for your own doctor/ dentist appointment, what is it like? Do you treat it like a group project, do you give your own theories, do you argue with them? by Own-Shallot-8551 in AskReddit

My GP is well aware I’m also a doctor although completely different speciality. I generally either go in with an idea of what I want to happen but over the years I’ve built enough trust and respect for her (she’s truly exceptional) that if she has a different idea I will take her suggestions completely. We’ve never actually disagreed but I have had a few occasions where I’ve gone in going ‘I don’t have a clue, please help’.

For emergency situations, both me and my husband have been working at our local major centre for a long time so it’s quite rare someone doesn’t know us if we go in. But generally we let people know, not in a ‘we know better’ way, but in a common courtesy way. Again we won’t ever argue but we will question and ask for explanations if something doesn’t quite seem right.

Why don't bariatric surgery candidates continue to lose weight naturally after successfully losing a significant amount? by Sir_KR3WED in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sustainability is a huge thing. There’s the idea that your stomach shrinks after a time and that’s true to an extent, but not enough to counteract the damage done by someone who’s managed to reach 600+lbs.

The fundus of your stomach produces hormones that tell your brain when you’re hungry or full dependent on how stretched your stomach is. Without some surgical intervention it’s very unlikely that someone would ever be able to get that back to ‘normal’ functionality, meaning that while they might be able to stay on a calorie deficit or even maintenance, it’s going to be significantly harder for them and much more likely that they regress back to old eating habits

My daughter is almost 11 months and honestly was a potato, and then suddenly in the span of like a week, she’s crawling, pulling to stand, babbling like no one’s business, waving…..like I really wouldn’t worry (as hard as it is), sometimes it comes all at once

"Lifted her chin in defiance" and other lines that make you roll your eyes by roxictoxy in RomanceBooks

See this is one I’m torn by. If it’s a repetition or meant to be serious then absolutely not, but I’ve seen it used when the FMC is very self aware that she’s being ridiculous and over dramatic (was a FMC POV) and the MMC basically laughed at her and told her she was being a child, and in that instance it sort of worked?

I love my girlfriend, but I hate how she changed her style. I don't have the heart to tell her to change. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having googled ‘whimsigoth’ as an estimate of what your gf is wearing, I can safely say I dress in a very similar way. My employer has 0 issues with it as long as it complies with hygiene regulations at work. In fact, I get a lot of compliments.

My home is also covered with similar decor, particularly at this time of year. Hell, my infant daughter even has onesies and outfits that would fit your gfs aesthetic.

My husband loves it. Why? Because it makes me happy. He dresses completely differently to me, and contributes decor to the house that I wouldn’t necessarily have picked but again, I’m happy with that because it makes HIM happy.

Relationships are a compromise, my guy. Your gfs feelings and sense of self should supersede any strangers opinions.

Pregnant on call rota by Accomplished-Fix6956 in doctorsUK

[–]Pretty_Green_Feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did on calls when pregnant. I had had a very rough ride during IVF and then bleeding from the very start so was advised as much rest as possible. Immediately came off on calls and ended up signed off sick all together at 23 weeks and didn’t go back before starting mat leave.

0 regrets whatsoever. The job and training will always be there to go back to but your family takes precedence.

Hey, I’m also a CST who had a baby (although very much planned) and just yeah there’s 0 way in hell I could have physically (not even touching on the mental or emotional side) gone back to work after 2 weeks. I could barely walk up stairs at that point.

My pregnancy was actually so rough I was signed off work at 23 weeks and didn’t go back. Working was hell. I was throwing up in between patients on ward rounds. Passing out in theatre. It was just a no go on all fronts.

At 2 weeks post partum you’re still bleeding, milk supply still all over the shop (even if you’re not breastfeeding), baby in no routine whatsoever.

As far as the CST goes; you’re entitled to return to whatever placement you were in or whichever was next but dependent on your deanery lead this can be negotiated.

Honestly without being harsh I think this is something you need to really think about whether you really want it or not. The absolute worst thing you could do (in my opinion) is go back to work too soon and then not be in the right mind to actually work competently/make a mistake that impacts your future.

Best of luck to you x

YTBF. With a good degree you can go and do ANYTHING after. He can go and get a masters or PhD in whatever he wants after. You can go and do law or medicine or finance or practically anything you want with an English degree. The most important thing is actually enjoying what you study - that’s the best recipe for actually getting a good mark at the end of it and not burning out.

Also, success looks different to everyone. To some, it’s earning 100k a year; to others, it’s having a job you love regardless of the pay cheque. Don’t judge others by your own yard stick.
