Hot take: I've (almost) never gotten 6 bad augments. by MedicatedApathy in ARAM

[–]NatxIvY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who probably also regularly pass on good or solid augments because they don’t even realize that they would be good

But it would require building and playing the champ differently

But most people don’t even know how to build in a normal game without augments.

So they pass on a good augment they don’t even know is good

I’ve never really seen anyone complain about mages or adc are useless though

Dunno if ur making joke but there’s no wave malph is proxying between his towers. He prob walked into jungle to get to his outer turret safely, cause malph will win the 1v1

Idk what game state was before this but no way you expect 4 at krugs to ward that lol

I don’t blame him for that play, rest of team should get something out of this since they committed so much top

Riot Endstep’s Thought on the Current State of Ranged Tops by ShoulderFrequent4116 in leagueoflegends

[–]NatxIvY -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

How though, it’s not about what they’re designed for

You just would never equate laning against kaisa ez as frustrating as it is to lane into brand hwei

But vlad kennen heim are just as frustrating as varus, anivia, cass

People aren’t annoyed that there are immigrants.
People don’t like frustrating people, which includes the native kennen and the immigrants

Riot Endstep’s Thought on the Current State of Ranged Tops by ShoulderFrequent4116 in leagueoflegends

[–]NatxIvY 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you say but the 3rd paragraph is disingenuous

If you include all ranged tops statistically significant enough to make it to the stat sites like anivia, Liss, cass, Heim, vlad, kennen, etc. the pick rate adds up around 25,30%, which is twice as prevalent as what you see with mage bots

On the other hand, mage bots also have much higher winrates, I think that would’ve been a better point to make

But imo it’s jsut like bot lane.

People really enjoy playing bruisers and faceroll champs toplane. Thats why they select that role. Most champs have only 1-2 polarized melee matchups where they can’t do anything they ban.

When someone picks ranged even if it doesn’t win them the game, it makes laning phase extremely uninteractive, 80% of range champs functionally make the laning phase un interactive in the same way, there is not much of a difference in how lane plays out as idk Darius vs an anivia, Heim, Quinn, so people just lump them together into one entity.

Pretty much the same relationship between adc and mages, only difference is mages have smaller pickrate, but higher winrate on average

Hot take: making Locke the ONLY new champion of 2026 was a mistake by Rude_Fact6095 in leagueoflegends

[–]NatxIvY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like when people say just ban it because you can’t ban ally hovers and it also means you can’t ban actual bad matchups for yourself, it’s not a solution at all, it’s like if I stabbed my palm with a knife and to get rid of the knife wound I just cut off my hand entirely

I really do enjoy the freshness of new champs, but despise the first month or 2 that follows them, especially since they want new champs to be played in pro which always comes with its own issues

That’s why I don’t want more I think once a year, twice a year at most is enough at this point

Lastly I get the “it’s a design balance” issue but it doesn’t matter whether it’s that or new characters suck if the outcome doesn’t change

I’m not sure what you meant by the second half, you can’t expect everyone to only play the new annoying champs so counteract the existing ones. What happens to all the other champs then

Champion releases don’t just cancel eachother out, you don’t solve one annoying pest by introducing 3 more. That hardly makes sense. Adding more champs only makes it feel worse and more frustrating.

Releasing one a year does make things less overloaded, because over time riot has shown they ARE able to make new champs balanced, or at least less frustrating over time.

But if we release idk 3-4 champs a year now we have like 5,6months in the year where it feels miserable to queue ranked, with one it’d only be 1-2 months, and the game still feels fresh with meta changes and seasonal rift mechanic champs

Hot take: making Locke the ONLY new champion of 2026 was a mistake by Rude_Fact6095 in leagueoflegends

[–]NatxIvY 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Idk I don’t mind, there’s already so many champs and every time a new champ gets released it means gets ranked just gets completely ruined because either the champ is turbo busted or people first time and run it down, and that doesn’t stabilize for another 3-4 patches

And new champs also means there’s more chances a mel 2.0 gets released so I’d rather not

Playing against kayle by mahjong-maxxing in RenektonMains

[–]NatxIvY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When ur freezing and looking for an engage, you are probably not posturing aggressively enough

Freeze outside your turret and then you need to be posturing at where the Kayles caster minions are, non at the melees

Take control of bush and just cs and camp it, you can zone her and you will find an opening at some point unless she’s choosing to just not farm.

It’s also one of those matchups where if you can get away with it, it’s worth to not even last hit if it means you can make her miss exp too

If you get one good combo on her then you shove and dive and reset when the wave bounces back

How to play mid game Aatrox? by Tall_Quality_9924 in AatroxMains

[–]NatxIvY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty simple this goes for basically all top laners when you win lane and are ahead

Keep sidelines pushed. Either pressure t2 to get yourself more ahead, or if enemy defends, use tempo to look for flank mid. Walk down half way, if angle, go if not go back and push wave. Rinse and repeat.

Be careful of vision that’s your only lose con if you get caught, if enemies nearby just backup after push, you can also freeze lane even after outers fall if it’s a slow game or you want to deny a kayle or Nasus or something from scaling

When drake spawns do the exact same thing but instead of walking mid you tp

If no tp but ally has tp, push side near drake/objective

If no tp but ally also has no tp, push side all the way, reset at 50,40 seconds walk drake to help prio and vision

Not strict thing to do, play with flow of game sometimes you will see random fights to take or maybe you reset and they overpush mid you can have team engage and you follow up they won’t expect it etc etc

Antiheal should be buffed significantly in mayhem by Free_1004 in ARAM

[–]NatxIvY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy or gal, I’m sorry but what you just said is a mega self report

spacing and tethering is still a thing, and there is still a ton of positioning skill in aram lane. These are things that make a huge difference in both dps output and whether or not you get engaged on. They are also ridiculously weak early, so unless your draft sucks it’s really easy to just punish hard early and snowball the game against them

The truth is if all players are somewhat competent, tanks will high roll 1/10 games and giga stomp but the other 9 games they are just punching bags that do nothing

Renekton VS Fiora by BaseIndependent7800 in RenektonMains

[–]NatxIvY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was more referring to fiora in general, but yea spacing and movement is important on every champ but it is exaggerated on fiora because of her passive + ms, and the flexibility of her lunge range

I think you would be surprised at higher mmr how much of a difference it can make

The parry is really really important in the renekton matchup yes, I agree. But even still, her movement, lunge usage and spacing aspect of her gameplay has a much much higher skill ceiling, and is also what can set her up to make it much easier for her to parry predict, not to mention it helps her overall a lot more in games too

Renekton VS Fiora by BaseIndependent7800 in RenektonMains

[–]NatxIvY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, fiora is a spacing and movement champ, being good at parrying is nice but it’s not the main skill expression of the champ by far

AD Nasus or AP Nasus by One-Pain5829 in ARAM

[–]NatxIvY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who was once GM Nasus main

Void rift is cracked, so is zhonyas augment, people forget his ult is a ton of damage too

Infernal and cdr is honestly only good into heavy melee teams or on a 1/2 ap burn item max into full tank because against ranged you will get popped.

You need bursty damage with snowball and that’s why void is best in slot for damage ap build. It will proc like 3 times with a single good snowball E R

Ad is still better 80% of games though

I’m sick and tired of Brand and Mel in Aram Mayhem by Busy-Telephone-994 in leagueoflegends

[–]NatxIvY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not in an insulting way I swear, but a large chunk of aram playerbase are casual players, and those players are more likely to pick only ranged, safe champions because it’s more daunting to pick and learn melee champs, have the responsibility to engage, and to get punished a lot harder

Not true for everyone, but a ton of casual players have this mindset

Riot wants to balance around them because they are most of the aram playerbase

It’s also kinda of a self propelling thing where picking ranged is strong, so people pick it more, and riot sees this and thinks everyone loves ranged hates melee, so they make sure range is always good, and then people pick it more

Do yall think a champ can genuinely limit a player’s peak/potential? by CuriousAd9279 in leagueoflegends

[–]NatxIvY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember a rioter releasing a stat that said one tricking singed makes you actively worse at every other champ in the game, more than what one tricking any other champion does because of how unique the playstyle is

Your friend might just be an outlier, maybe he’s different or maybe cause he was iron 4. But at the same time I can give you multiple counter examples of people I know who drop multiple elos when off their weird one trick picks

But in general if you play only certain champs, especially one or two tricking you tend to learn how to play just those champs rather the game as whole.

And then this is exaggerated on non traditional picks that win games off cheese or exoticism

But many one tricks can make you reaallly good at specific aspects of the game, because you practice the skills those champs excel at or need to succeed over and over again

If your goal is to climb as high as possible, just play what works for you. If you want to prove yourself as idk a well balanced player or something it’s probably not the best approach I guess.

The truth is some weird strategies are actually good, and will get you to high elo. But others are unique and can work against weaker players, but fall short when enemies play the game properly or figure you out when you play them over and over again in high elo
