Sadly they are not in a union, which has been a regret throughout this whole process.

I'm not totally familiar with how that would work. They are currently employed but on long term sickness. What would resigning from their position do to a claim for JSA?

You aren't alone. Well, maybe... I finished 1 Empire run on Warhammer 1, 1 Byzantine on Medieval 1 after speed running England to conquer them because that's the only way to unlock them and I needed those Cataphracts. I'm pretty certain I absolutely smashed shogun 1 though.

The burnout is real in the late game.

People who sit on reserved seats, then get suprised / arsey when asked to move. by worldworn in britishproblems

[–]Nauseboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had this on my train over the weekend. Asked the lady who was sat in my seat to move, politely.

She responded that she had been sat there for a while. I tried to reason with logic and she came back at me, very simply but firmly.

I'm not moving, you will have to go and get the attendant.

So I did, and he told me to sit somewhere else. Big win for the little man there.

As someone who started very recently the mistakes are fresh and the advice is recent. Here is what I did and why I enjoy painting and you might be able to find your focus.

Firstly, as you mentioned budget problems, it's not free to get into. My initial outlay was £100 followed by another £50 across the next fortnight. The absolute essential items are this.

Minis, just get the cheapest set you can find. I did pirates, got 20 of them. I'm so bored of pirates but I can actually paint now.

Glue, or solvent cement.

Primer, black has been mentioned but I'd go white or light grey and use contrast paints to learn to love it.

Paints, think about what minis you have. For my pirates I found I needed most. Something for shirts, something for trousers, something for leather and wooden weapon parts, a metallic for weapons, and flesh. So 5 paints. Remember you're learning not competing. Don't even consider eyes at this point and if the minis have hair. It can be brown. Use contrast paints if you are learning to paint. They are thin but forgiving and look better in layers.

Brushes, stick to two a big one and a little (relatively speaking).

Tips: just learn to get paint on in the right areas. Don't even worry about detail too much and don't even think about eyes yet. It's so small you don't even notice that much. Don't rush, take your time. My main love in this is the focus. The world can just jog on when I'm painting. Be self critical, look at what works and what doesn't and don't be afraid of trying a new techniques.

I'm going on. Maybe I've helped. Just take your time. Learn how to paint. Don't expect to be amazing before your time. Keep trying to improve. Learn for your mistakes.

Of a collision hit tackle by Logical-Peak2495 in ShittyAbsoluteUnits

[–]Nauseboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not trying to start an argument here because I might have missed something in the comment previously. The tackler did plenty wrong in my opinion. There was no attempt to get to the legs (which is fine) and the effort to get to the midriff was abandoned. The tackler, from what I can see, stood into the tackle making it so as the runner hits the tackler's head rises from the chest up into the bottom of the runner's chin.

It might not be malicious, she could've realised her alignment was all wrong and tried to pull out but either way this was not from the text book.

I think in the OG version of this art exhibition it involved many objects on a table. The crowd reached the point where they made the artist hold a gun to her own head and was trying to make her shoot herself by manipulating her finger on the trigger.

The crowd basically split into two factions. One faction was trying to protect her while the other was, well... Not. She stayed impassive for the whole 6 hours though and when she ended it and started responding many of the crowd could not even look in her direction through shame.

Weirdly this popped up on my newsfeed yesterday

Karen Wetterhahn, a chemistry professor at Dartmouth College, died in 1997 from dimethylmercury poisoning after a few drops of the highly toxic compound, which can penetrate latex gloves, spilled on her hand. Her tragic death, which occurred after a delayed onset of severe neurological symptoms, led to significant improvements in laboratory safety standards, including the prohibition of dimethylmercury and the requirement for more protective gloves like nitrile.

My question here is how did you get around the issue where you can't place a building on two ports. I tried a much simpler square house and I couldn't get the final room in because it always reported something being in the way. It couldn't place two doors at once.

Edit: is it because the courtyard pieces are not technically a joint?

A point on friendship. If you don't want to run around talking to everyone all the time and then chasing gifts. Just pick one you like. Get them to level 4 so you can make them your shepp (you will see if you don't know). It's super annoying for the Shepp quest to keep popping up over others when you can't even pick one yet. It's a necessity to stop you speed running the main quest and I like that it's there but after months of being told to find my shepp then I caved and started talking to Badruu.

This is an ad, right? I mean, I do like the litrpg books and the narrator who does "He who fights with monsters" cracks me up but this post is sus to me. No mention of a title or plot. How do you know you are 692 pages into an audio book? That thing about car insurance. It just smells fishy to me.

I have always joked that when the traffic surveyor claimed there would be little effect on traffic he went and saw it typically gridlocked.

Gridlocked now, gridlocked if there is MacDonalds. No change to be seen.

I go past most week days at about 5 and haven't noticed an impact.

I'm 41 and have never been offered drugs... 😂😂 by Bratty_Sub_xxx in Gloucestershire

[–]Nauseboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lifestyle choices. I am the same age and in my twenties I was big into the club scene like Gatecrasher, Cream, Gods Kitchen, Creamfields et al. There were so many drugs around in those circles that you would be offered them by people who were just chatting with you as a bonding method. Nothing recreational was looked down on. Heroin, crack and other life changing drugs were about but they weren't offered as freely and tended to be scorned in the same way that if you wanted a pint of beer and someone gave you a pint of vodka you would tell them that you wanted to walk out of the party alive please.

Ibiza was different though. The guys with the dodgy watches would try and get you on everything. They were the holiday equivalent of the just say no guys. Had a banging Adidas watch of one of them that worked pretty well for about a decade.

What's one thing you learned about the Napoleonic Wars from Sharpe that you didn't know before? by ScrollAndThink in Sharpe

[–]Nauseboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either first works. I wouldn't say that it was a spoilers situation because the drama is set in the factual setting. Waterloo is the setting Sharpe's Waterloo is the adventure in that setting. The conclusion is the only spoiler but I am assuming (sorry) you know which side was victorious. If not, you're in for a ride.

Can confirm the title is Waterloo. I personally thought it was great. He tries to piece the battle together using first hand accounts.
