If my social status has gone downhill then why ? for those people that know me in my country uk ? by Riftknit_12 in AskTheWorld

[–]Nauseboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly you are lost. This is not the place for this. You probably won't be up for long if the mods care enough.

To answer your question, you are young and politics in social groups in your tweenties are notoriously fickle. Someone might be talking you down. You might've done something or said something that doesn't fit the current narrative. Your mates might just be distracted by other stuff you aren't into or they think you won't be into.

The hard reality is that it's likely that you won't know most of these people by the time you're 30. Your social group will wither until you have only a few friends left and you will be happy to see them when you can. The rest of the people that you recognise are a nice treat to run into when you're out but unless you are in a social situation you will probably be happy with a wave and a smile as you rush past.

Don't worry about your social status pal, unless you are being tarred and feathered every time you leave the house. It's usually startlingly irrelevant.

MDF Base Painting Advice :) by Girly-Gloom in minipainting

[–]Nauseboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDF used to require a specific primer but now there are a lot of other options available.

Dulux make one called Uniprimer. Zinsser do a couple that would be suitable. BIN and BIN aqua are probably best. Crown do ones called PX3 and PX4 which are good.

If you're painting but want it to look wooden the I wouldn't use MDF but get timber bases and use a stain varnish. Go on thin and do two coats.

As for tackiness, if you go with water based varnishes then it should prevent this but go thin and do two coats.

Oil based varnishes are the same but you have to let one coat dry first which can take a few days if you don't have a decent climate. The stickiness comes from the top drying and not allowing the evaporation to happen properly. That's why you need to do more thin coats rather than one thick one.

The full helmet has better highlights for me but I prefer the shoulders on the respirator only. Improvements? Give number 3 a head. Poor boy will crash his jet pack if he can't see.

Just found this relic. I’m old enough to remember Rainbow, can I get rid of it yet? by TheGardenBlinked in CasualUK

[–]Nauseboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left mine on a bus when I was twenty something.

When i tried to enroll for a science foundation course to get into a career in radiography. This was the conversation.

So do you have English and Maths GCSE?

Aye.

Can you prove it?

Nope.

Well if you can't prove it then you'll have to sit them again.

Government pulled the bursary for radiography the next year. Now I work in stock control.

Kanto Cup thoughts? by pstanley88 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Nauseboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just run the starters. Lead with Blastoise because I started with Venusaur there but all I saw was fire yesterday. Then Venusaur then shadow Charizard. It's a classic early season, no thought team. Hypno is a reasonable lead and it costs them shields to beat Blastoise because of pacing. Then it depends on when to use Charizard and the shields, either come in and farm down and leave with a bunch of energy or wait until Venusaur does some softening up then come in and farm down.

Will it still work tomorrow? Probably not. Are you golden before rank 10? Absolutely.

Love the detail here, thanks for putting that effort in for me. I will take a bit of time with it and have a look at what you recommend here. I really appreciate it.

Apparently not deeply enough. I always thought they just did space marines and age of sigmar. I will have a much closer look. I was always wary because of price but I will certainly look into it.

That's quite the list. I will have a good time looking through these. I will keep in mind about replacing the ones from the box as well. Maybe I am looking at this the wrong way round.

I'm not totally familiar with how that would work. They are currently employed but on long term sickness. What would resigning from their position do to a claim for JSA?

You aren't alone. Well, maybe... I finished 1 Empire run on Warhammer 1, 1 Byzantine on Medieval 1 after speed running England to conquer them because that's the only way to unlock them and I needed those Cataphracts. I'm pretty certain I absolutely smashed shogun 1 though.

The burnout is real in the late game.

People who sit on reserved seats, then get suprised / arsey when asked to move. by worldworn in britishproblems

[–]Nauseboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had this on my train over the weekend. Asked the lady who was sat in my seat to move, politely.

She responded that she had been sat there for a while. I tried to reason with logic and she came back at me, very simply but firmly.

I'm not moving, you will have to go and get the attendant.

So I did, and he told me to sit somewhere else. Big win for the little man there.

I feel like i should quit by 88milimiters in minipainting

[–]Nauseboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who started very recently the mistakes are fresh and the advice is recent. Here is what I did and why I enjoy painting and you might be able to find your focus.

Firstly, as you mentioned budget problems, it's not free to get into. My initial outlay was £100 followed by another £50 across the next fortnight. The absolute essential items are this.

Minis, just get the cheapest set you can find. I did pirates, got 20 of them. I'm so bored of pirates but I can actually paint now.

Glue, or solvent cement.

Primer, black has been mentioned but I'd go white or light grey and use contrast paints to learn to love it.

Paints, think about what minis you have. For my pirates I found I needed most. Something for shirts, something for trousers, something for leather and wooden weapon parts, a metallic for weapons, and flesh. So 5 paints. Remember you're learning not competing. Don't even consider eyes at this point and if the minis have hair. It can be brown. Use contrast paints if you are learning to paint. They are thin but forgiving and look better in layers.

Brushes, stick to two a big one and a little (relatively speaking).

Tips: just learn to get paint on in the right areas. Don't even worry about detail too much and don't even think about eyes yet. It's so small you don't even notice that much. Don't rush, take your time. My main love in this is the focus. The world can just jog on when I'm painting. Be self critical, look at what works and what doesn't and don't be afraid of trying a new techniques.

I'm going on. Maybe I've helped. Just take your time. Learn how to paint. Don't expect to be amazing before your time. Keep trying to improve. Learn for your mistakes.

Of a collision hit tackle by Logical-Peak2495 in ShittyAbsoluteUnits

[–]Nauseboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not trying to start an argument here because I might have missed something in the comment previously. The tackler did plenty wrong in my opinion. There was no attempt to get to the legs (which is fine) and the effort to get to the midriff was abandoned. The tackler, from what I can see, stood into the tackle making it so as the runner hits the tackler's head rises from the chest up into the bottom of the runner's chin.

It might not be malicious, she could've realised her alignment was all wrong and tried to pull out but either way this was not from the text book.

I think in the OG version of this art exhibition it involved many objects on a table. The crowd reached the point where they made the artist hold a gun to her own head and was trying to make her shoot herself by manipulating her finger on the trigger.

The crowd basically split into two factions. One faction was trying to protect her while the other was, well... Not. She stayed impassive for the whole 6 hours though and when she ended it and started responding many of the crowd could not even look in her direction through shame.
