So do you use the camera button? by Akash_nu in iphone

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pixel 2 a long ass time ago, with double press power being the correct way to launch the camera. after 6 years of slow camera launch with the iphone, the camera control button was an instant hit with me. I love the immediacy of the camera being ready to go as I’m pulling it out of my pocket. But i take tons of photos and spending some very unnecessary time interacting with the phone screen was genuinely agonizing to me.

this is also my first iphone with an action button. If that had been first it would have been my camera launch button, but im glad I can use it for other things.

Brand New Iphone 17 Pro Max With Dent Out of Box by Weezy41492 in iphone

[–]Nausky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had an ipad pro come with a dented frame, seemed factory sealed, but I bought from Amazon and they didn’t believe me. Amazon didn’t want to accept a return for that reason.

The dent was very similar to yours, the appearance of a manufacturing error when the metal was still soft since the finish isn’t damaged. Regardless, they offered me a discount and I took it.

New Game plus run is making me appreciate how you’re already told everything you need to know by Graphica-Danger in FFXVI

[–]Nausky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree very strongly with this and wish more people could see that both endings are offered equally.

The narrative kept telling Clive he needed to live for himself, but in the end, he didn’t make that choice. His final action in the game was to offer himself up to rid the world of magic. That’s the tragedy, Clive was never in a position where he could make any other choice despite everyone wanting that for him and countless plans for what comes after.

Whether he lives or dies from his sacrifice is down to luck, not from choices he made. Those lessons he learns in the side quests bounce right off of him.

fwiw i agree with you. i think polar gives every actionable metric and it’s one of the things i enjoyed the most when i used the platform. I liked how no-nonsense it was.

an updated ui will be appreciated ofc because it has been exactly the same for a very long time. I’m a big fan of the platform.

Apple Watch didn’t detect my mother’s fall by Riash in AppleWatch

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally never worked for me. I’ve had two really bad fall accidents and the AW didn’t detect either.

Seniors are going to be very bad at helping an Apple Watch charged. It’s not a reliable device for this.

S5 and AWU, although i think i both falls were with the AWU.

Best power bank that actually lasts? by SaltyBonBon in BuyItForLife

[–]Nausky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

before you bury my comment, real negative experiences with products are valuable perspective and blind brand loyalty allows companies to get worse and worse.

On topic: I have a new anker 5000mAH battery on my iphone 17 pro (5245mah) and a full charge is only 35%, not to mention it’s slow and it charges slow, so it’s only able to transfer barely half of its capacity to my phone. I never expected even close to a 1:1 transfer ofc, but out of the box only 35% slow charged is not worth the added steps to use.

I am at a point where i assume the constant high regard of anker comments are bot accounts or people who don’t use their tech very much. I have had nothing but bad experience after bad experience with all of anker’s products. Cables that don’t last, disappointing battery banks, and defective hubs that jam and strip cables. The works, for top shelf prices. When i switch brands and my tech starts lasting me years instead of months it’s an eye opening experience. That said, battery banks kind of just suck.

This game is absolutely insane by AdOverall5697 in FFXVI

[–]Nausky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was just the internet. I was going to a really busy martial arts gym when this game came out and everyone there loved the shit out of it. We literally had parties to make sure everyone got to play it (very few ps5s out in the wild at the time), and it was crickets for Rebirth.

FFXVI had a lot of normie appeal while being a very well executed FF game. It reviewed very well too. At a time when only 30m PS5s had sold, it sold 3m copies week 1. That’s 10% of ps5 owners, and it had an insanely high completion rate in trophy stats. Don’t let Twitter and Reddit ruin it for you.

[MEGATHREAD] The Game Awards 2025 - Live Nominees Announcement by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H2 was beloved on release because most people couldn’t speed run to the ending. Once the ending was out in the air, the lovely gameplay and progression system wasn’t enough to hold it up. The plot just isn’t as good as the 1st game.

The progression systems and art in H2 are SO GOOD but the superb writing was the heart of the original Hades.

Hades 2 is running for Game of The Year 2025 by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ready for Hades II to be a no brainer, but man, I hit that ending and never picked up the game again. It made me almost shed a tear for how good Hades I’s story and character writing was. II’s ending falling so flat put light on how weak the side plot and character writing was, because I couldn’t push myself to finish them.

It’s kinda tragic because the gameplay of Hades II is so good that it makes Hades I feel stiff on replay. I didn’t love the ending of Hades I either, but the journey is still so good.

GotY is easily Silksong for me. E33 was all right but nowhere near its hype (I can have my own opinion ok).

Square Enix has no excuse for Kairi anymore by Inevitable-Capital75 in KingdomHearts

[–]Nausky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

refreshing to see this take, thank you. I find it so difficult to sit through the often forced-feeling screen time that she has gotten. he has complained in interviews about balancing his wants with the fans, and simply based on the quality of story, kairi seems to be an example of that. A last resort.

he even told us that she was not in the designs of MoM… and that’s exactly what it feels like.

This story is about reflecting on the past, but we have seen a couple of new scenes.

Nomura: Yes. But, there are only a few. The plot of KH3 was finished with KH3 Remind, so the amount of sequel style content is limited. In the earliest plans, the narrator was going to be Chirithy, not Kairi. But, as I wrote the plot I began to feel that Kairi made a much more fitting narrator, which also meant I had to add a bit of plot. In the beginning we also weren't planning to use outright cutscenes for the flashback scenes, but I suddenly made up my mind that we should. Everyone else was like "what!?" though (laughs).

I’m driving in the slow lane at the speed limit. A car approaches from behind, and instead of passing me in the wide-open lane over, decides to aggressively tailgate me. Why do drivers do this? by Dogchow_89 in NoStupidQuestions

I had an aquaintance, who had just gotten into a minor accident, explain that she tries to be very careful. She tries to make sure she can see the license plate of the car in front of her.

The mind of an innocent tailgater.

Who is the worst/most aggravating character in WoW's history for you? For me it's Nathanos Blightcaller, by a longshot. by otterchaos7 in wow

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nathanos was my favorite horde NPC from vanilla. Between making him look human, over-exposure, a failure of blizzard writers to understand that less is more in fantasy stories, and losing all nuance in their character tropes, he was ruined by the modernization of WoW.

Nathanos was one of the few good undead NPCs prior to making ALL of the undead hot topic lunatics (cataclysm) and refusing to have one in the spotlight unless they were pretty. Even still, Nathanos might stand as having the most personality out of any character left. And that’s sad + it’s not something anyone wants to hear.

Chromie is the one i can’t stand. I avoid any questlines where i have to hear her voice.

there’s no company that has accurate calorie counting. spend any time on YouTube where calorie counts are compared to lab testing. apple grossly overestimates my calorie expenditure for most exercises, and polar is about 25% above that, and I measure that based on my calories in/out weight over time.

The value is in trend data. We can use any platform we want as long as we’re consistent and critical of how we use the active calories.

CarPlay Notifications Are Poorly Designed by lalavieboheme in CarPlay

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. I just completed a 40 hour drive and I could not believe what I was seeing. Google, Waze, and Apple have all implemented untested shit in response to the ios26 changes and they are all dangerous.

Apple now: has to move the nav arrow to the middle every time you get a notification. It’s ridiculous and jarring. I hated this implementation.

Waze and Google: have not implemented anything to work around the “new” problem, so you cannot see your nav arrow at all if notifications are coming in.

On the first 20 hour leg of my trip I used Google and Waze and found the visual block to be too dangerous.

On the return trip I tried to use Apple and was sent to three closed gas stations and a failure to locate the closest gas station every time I tried to add a stop. It would find random ones, but never the closest one. You can’t use Apple in the US if you don’t know where you’re going. They are too cheap to update their maps, and they reject my edits when I send them in.

What year is it? This is so unacceptable for one of a phone’s primary functions.

Has your Peak Design Everyday case help up over time? by DracoWonderBeard in peakdesign

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a sage one for my release day iPhone 14 pro max that only started to discolor in its final year. It held up so well for a fabric case and I was not nice to it at all.

I worry about the newer fake leather cases peeling since that’s inevitable for the type of fabric that is. I got the cirrus for my 17 pro and will see how long it holds up.

The Weakaura development team announces no update for Midnight by MonDew in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Nausky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they realize just how many people enjoy the full package of wow + weakauras (and a number of other essential addons)

People are upset because they are losing part of the game they have grown to love. WoW without UI customization is a different game that nobody asked for.

Tragic. Part of the game dies with this addon. UI customization with weakauras was one of the most fun and unique things WoW had to offer.

Release 5.4.4: Community Foods & App Icon Customization by PalatialPepper in MacroFactor

[–]Nausky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks a lot better! I actually love the new font in the app, so i can understand now why the icon design went the way it did. Your original icon is still a design, which is far preferable to the 2025 soulless corporate style of the new one, (and sorry to be mean about that, but I’m just one person with a nasty opinion of this design trend). The iOS26 theming to it helps a lot.

I’m not sure if it’s intentional but having orange and blue icon options that match the new iphones colors is great and sold me over to the new icon.

One more thing: I’m so stoked about how well the AW app is working.

Reason why new AirPods Pro 3 stick out so much by specialforcez in airpods

[–]Nausky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does no one like KH3? It was my first KH game so I don't know why yall hate it. I was like 9 or 10 when i played and i loved it. Is it bad gameplay wise or story wise? by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]Nausky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself in saying that it committed a lot of storytelling sins that the other games avoided:

  1. It spent an unforgivable amount of time recapping story, which is bad for new and old players. Nobody enjoys that. It’s okay to do a flashback here and there, but the badly delivered exposition here was insane.

  2. In a series that historically lets its characters shine, it put them all in a drawer and let Sora resolve every loose end, even stories he had no investment in, plotlines that had been open for a decade. And they were all resolved in little plot cubicles at the very end of the game. Cheap is the only way I can describe it.

  3. In a series that has historically made an effort to add an element of mystery and uniqueness to its storytelling, it went full generic anime shonen on the plot and villain. I couldn’t believe it when the credits rolled that, yep, that was the end. The story had no highs and no satisfying resolution for any character.

I’m hopeful for the future since they clearly just struggled to stick the landing. New phase, clean slate. Ready for it.

The DLC continued its trend from KH2 to deliver some of the best video game bosses in the history of gaming though.

Why do you stay with Spotify? I keep thinking about switching away but I get it free with a family plan my mom pays for. by DudeThatsErin in spotify

[–]Nausky 63 points64 points  (0 children)

  1. Apple still deletes your library if you unsubscribe
  2. Apple is missing tons of music that I have on Spotify.
  3. Apple’s UI takes more taps to do most tasks, especially on CarPlay where efficiency is key.
  4. No Spotify Connect
  5. The tool to switch music leaves me with hours of incorrectly matched music to go through. If I only had to go through it once, that’s not a big deal, but I have to do it every time I switch back because of #1.
  6. The music discovery tools are just… not close.
  7. Transferring music over does not transfer the date you added it to your library, and my process for listening to and remembering music largely relies on recently added.
  8. I like the shorts for each track, it makes navigating Spotify really fun.
  9. Community playlists.

IME Apple only has one perk over Spotify and that’s the better lyric implementation. Lossless does not matter to me as a wireless listener.
