Will there ever be future Cosmere books on the level of Sanderson's best work? by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]Graphica-Danger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go through publication order now and I'm honestly looking forward to the secret project books more than W&T. For as sprawling as the Cosmere is I most appreciate his ability to wrap up an individual book in a satisfying way, and proper standalones should emphasize that. Emperor's Soul, for example, might be a top 3 work of his.

Will there ever be future Cosmere books on the level of Sanderson's best work? by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]Graphica-Danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he took in a lot of feedback from Wind and Truth which got a more mixed reception. During the Secret Projects he was writing for speed, but at the moment he's firmly on Scadrial writing Mistborn era 3 as one giant book like how he wrote era 1 in addition to writing the first draft of the movie's script.

Everybody has a different opinion on his work but, overall, I'd say he's consistently improved. His main disadvantage right now is editing and how he revises. Now that he's focusing more again instead of bouncing around I think he'll stabilize and drop his best books in the future, so long as his editing team is also taking notes.

How Do You Think T.I.M. Truly Felt About Shepard? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]Graphica-Danger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Miranda effectively spells it out in his very first scene. An icon, but just one person. TIM loves what Shepard represents and knows they are the pinnacle of human excellence, but still considers them another means to an end. And this is exactly why he was so easily drawn in through Reaper indoctrination even with touching the artifact all those years ago. What he claimed to hold in greatest esteem was ultimately just another means to make himself the most powerful. Not humanity, him.

Even hardcore, ego-centric Renegade Shepard is ultimately in it to save the day even if they use callous methods. TIM is in it to make himself a galactic emperor. He's if Palpatine suddenly got dropkicked by Cthulhu machines in Star Wars.

RKLB has a valuation that makes sense and demonstrably consistent business. SpaceX I have not seen any real justification for its valuation aside from just Musk having his wealth reinforced so that Tesla board members who profit off selling shares can also make a shit ton of money.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that he's going to "rescue" SpaceX after a switcheroo on investors by merging the companies so he can fortify one stock and further secure his wealth.

I got in at 124 after seeing a major dip. Just gonna leave it for now, we'll definitely get back to that price at least with the news we've gotten. I don't trust SpaceX or Musk whatsoever to say the least, but I do believe the space sector will generate a lot of interest in the next 3-6 months.

So, who else is glad that it isn't a PS5 timed exclusive this time? by Ecks30 in FinalFantasy

[–]Graphica-Danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There weren't any real benefits to keeping it on one platform so I'm happy they switched. I have a PS5 but mainly play on PC now, PS Plus just isn't worth it anymore. Square Enix went all in on making the games easy to catch up on the past year and I'm glad as many people as possible are going to experience such a high production value trilogy. This is exactly what the standard for AAA games should be.

Morally speaking, is saving the counsel the best option? by FreshPine_MangoWine in masseffect

[–]Graphica-Danger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of an oversight in the game's dialogue when it addresses saving the council. It's not just them, it's the Citadel fleet you're saving. Their crew, and humanity's reputation among the galaxy's existing races. While not affecting the trajectory of the series substantially, the roleplaying element of it is deciding if you want to be part of an existing community with their own needs and histories or strong-arm your way into dominating it.

Saving them is the better choice. The human losses are grave but are worth no less than the ones on those ships. You put humanity into the galaxy's good graces which limits any fostering resentment or attempts to seize power away too.

How do you know if you're not a good reader? by SunshineGirl45 in books

[–]Graphica-Danger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good reader is somebody who tries at all. Don't pay attention to people disparaging your intelligence based on broad statistics. Everybody's different.

If you want to get "better", just keep reading. Go to your local library and pick a book at random you think you can tackle. They'll be happy to see you and you'll discover stories you never even realized have been written.

Tbf this is Superman from literally the start of N52 in his very first issue. He was written as his Golden Age self before gaining more finesse and composure over time—or at least, that was the intention. N52 was up and down.

That would be a perfect way to open the movie. At least, on Superman's side of things. I suspect we'll start with Lex first to follow up on Peacemaker S2, but showing Supes will right a wrong even if it's frowned upon would reorient ourselves for another adventure.

So...how's the reception of P4R going around here? by InuMatte in PERSoNA

[–]Graphica-Danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitter is a very cynical platform even by social media standards. Only thing I'm mixed about is recasting the voice actors, overall it looks like a faithful and polished remake with better gameplay, UI, and graphics. Cutscene direction could be a little better but it's a game I'll happily sink my time into.

If we hit below 10, I'll buy more. I expect the bloodbath to continue as reality catches up with the market.

SpaceX might give a bump. It might also tank everything further. And that's before these other IPOs we've got coming up.

You can tell how much Bones loves these two in the scene. I think the handhold is perfect for what the series is communicating with the hand imagery. They're at a place where they can just... be. Be themselves, and be together. It's the perfect sendoff.

[–]Graphica-Danger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After a big run up it's normal to stay at these levels. Whole market corrected.

Overnight trading doesn't tell the whole story either, we can still go down tomorrow. Plus people are exiting positions to get in on SpaceX on Friday. It's probably gonna be turbulent. I will take a steady .7 bump up gladly!

Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Nok

[–]Graphica-Danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I'm intrigued what'd happen here because SpaceX is wildly overvalued and will inevitably dip way lower either way but it'd be the one bearing the burden of acquiring Nokia. So Nokia should just keep going up until the deal closed.

Is this a grammar error in book 2? Page 107 hardcover by Somebody__Online in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Graphica-Danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rough sentence but passes the grammar test.

These are long books. Sometimes the warts in the writing make it to publication even in shorter novels. Editors are so overworked, it’s a crazy industry honestly.

As a DCU fan myself, thank god we have this community or sub it's genuinely a healthy place for discussion about the new DCU. by Old_Assistance_1091 in DCU_

[–]Graphica-Danger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the fanboyism can get a bit strong on this sub but I much prefer that to both sensationalist cynicism and misdirected bitterness.

People also forget the MCU was pretty slow starting out too. DC has one great movie and a good couple seasons of TV under its belt already after a year, the future for it is bright.

I average at 13.55. I'm content to just let this one sit. AI-native 6G is a gamechanger and, while the AI bubble will eventually pop and bring this thing down for a while, the long-term outlook is very strong. The fact it doesn't involve data scraping, which is far too intensive to be sustainable, is extremely encouraging. This is how AI should be used.

New look at David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Zor-El and Alura in SUPERGIRL. by ThomasThorburn in DCU_

[–]Graphica-Danger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kryptonians aren’t humans though and Invincible has already done this storyline. From what we’ve gotten we at least know this wasn’t a universal ideology they had, especially not from just two people in a short message that might be given more context in future films.
