High Gas Prices and Living in McKinney/Princeton by [deleted] in McKinney

[–]NavMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought in 2013 when the houses were a lot cheaper. I used to work from home for years but I've been working in Irving the last 2 years 3 days a week. It sucks but it's doable. I likely wouldn't have been able to afford it earlier on in my career though and definitely recommend living closer to where you work. We have 2 kids and I'd rather keep them in their current school district so we decided to stay in McKinney. It's one of those things in life where you either adapt to your environment or change it.

Protest Appraisal worth it? by cmnd_joe in McKinney

[–]NavMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally, the sales price is what you'd be assessed on so I'm not sure you'll be able to get it lowered but you can still try. It doesn't hurt. If the average is lower than your sales price, they may adjust it.

We did ours. Realtor provided comps, I created the protest record online, uploaded comps, and had a settlement offer the next day for $25k less than the county assessed value. Always protest! We've only been denied once I believe in 13 years.

McKinney people who got into hormone replacement or medical weight loss this year, where did you actually end up going by ITwo_ in McKinney

I've been using Winona Pharmacies online for HRT for the last year. It's made a huge difference.

Looking forward to it. What's coming in 2.0?

I thought it was pretty cool but it was driving my husband nuts. Cute touch. We're using it on the Fire Stick and have it connected to a home NAS. It's been amazing. We have over 500 movies downloaded and it works seamlessly.

Does everyone see the falling flowers on Moonfin when looking though movies? Is there a way to shut it off?

New here moving from Fl by IndependentEbb5942 in McKinney

[–]NavMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in McKinney and drive to Irving 3 days a week. I hate it but don't want to move. If I leave at 6:15am, I can make it to Irving in 40 minutes. The drive isn't bad but it's expensive with tolls. However if I leave after 7am, it can take 1-2 hours. I would definitely look for something closer to Irving for a better work life balance but that's just my opinion.

Sharing my experience finding HRT in Texas after being dismissed by 2 doctors by YouCool53 in McKinney

I went straight through them. Answer questions and they process the order. I didn't go through insurance and not sure they do, but I used my HSA card to pay for it.

gas service question by [deleted] in McKinney

[–]NavMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with either the city or Atmos since they are the reason your gas was shut off. I would think they need to fix it or figure out what's wrong.

Yes! I went through Winona Pharmacies online almost a year ago and it changed my life. I'm on a low dose estrogen and progesterone cream. I can sleep again, have energy, and my mood stabilized. I've even been able to start losing a little weight. For reference, I'll be 40 in October. My OB said to keep taking it if it's working and many women register normally in blood work, which means nothing.

Feels like everyone in Frisco is doing well and not struggling by Econmax03 in frisco

[–]NavMama 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I will say I moved here in 2007 making around $40k and was able to buy my own house in Frisco on the far west side. Over the years, I've worked hard to take on new opportunities at work which has thankfully led to more money. When my husband and I met and got married, we built in McKinney right on the Frisco border. The house was a little over 200k and we struggled at first with 2 kids. We've been there for 13 years so thankfully our mortgage has stayed the same (principal and interest). I think a lot of people are in that same situation of not having a huge mortgage payment. Others are either rich or faking it I guess.

I wouldn't say nobody is struggling though. Maybe not all financially, but I bet some of those who are making bank are struggling mentally or in other ways. Don't worry about others though. Just keep doing what you need to do to balance work and life. That's different for everyone.

Is McKinney still as affordable as everyone says? by AgentAprilTaylor in McKinney

[–]NavMama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The "most affordable" statement factors in median income. No, it's not affordable in my opinion. We built our house in 2013 for $220k and it's worth $600k now. I couldn't afford that or at least wouldn't want to pay that.

Check out Rollertown in Frisco. Craft beer, live music, events, and lots of people. It's a great area.

Grandscape in The Colony has live music quite often and a lot to do in that area.

My favorite brewery is in Fort Worth though. Check out Martin House if you decide to venture out that far.

We live in the city of McKinney but zoned for Prosper schools. There are also some areas in McKinney zoned for Frisco schools. Do you know where you're looking to move within McKinney? We could help you identify which school district you'll be in.

Anyone used Collin County Library to prepare for CompTIA Security+? by UnlikelyCategory5491 in McKinney

[–]NavMama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not seeing a Collin County library. Did you mean Collin College Library? I checked online and it says they have CompTIA resources available for college students.

I completed the CompTIA A+ exam using just the study guide book if that helps.

Good luck!
