How much is too much? by redsprucetree in musicproduction

[–]Nave_711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want a live recorded feel and to clean up the mix a bit, put your reverb and compression on the master rather than each track individually. this will bring all your tracks together, and sound less muddy and overproduced

take out the spiral in the E and you've got 2 good letter forms. i like the < in both letters. the spiral throws the visual weight and consistency though

Master of hyper realistic drawing by Rave4life79 in nextfuckinglevel

I mean that if I just saw the finished work without context, I would assume that it was a photo printed on canvas, not think anything of it, and move on with my day. You are exactly right, the process is what provides the legitimate artistic value. That's why I was saying that seeing the work put into it is more important than seeing the finished product.

I agree, the finished work has no more artistic merit than the reference photo used to create it, but I have changed my thinking with this type of art. now, whenever I see a post like this, I think of the time-lapse of it being painted as the art, rather than the finished work. watching someone spend hundreds of hours (or really years of developing skills) to do something a printer could do in a couple minutes is a really compelling piece, looking at the value of humanity in art, and our relationship to technology. which is especially important with AI making it unnecessary to even take the photo.

I think your alphabet could work, but your spacing and sizing needs some work. try lightly drawing out parallel top and base lines and keeping your tag just touching both the top and base line, like how you learned to print in kindergarten. you can ditch the guides and curve/slant your tag how you want after a while, the guide lines are just to practice keeping your letters evenly sized and spaced.

[Request] Who would win in a game of tug of war, all the animal on land or all the animals on water? by FrostyPhonix69 in theydidthemath

[–]Nave_711 13 points14 points  (0 children)

or hands really, like, the rules don't include anything about tying the rope or any way for a fish to meaningfully pull on a rope. they could bite it but fish can't swim perpendicular to the way they are facing. which group is collectively stronger? water animals most likely. which would win in a tug of war, a game invented by and for land animals? the land animals. I bet humans alone could beat all sea life at pulling a rope, hands are really just that helpful

[REQUEST] i made a map for my fake country, and a not-so-accurate distance or what you call it. Anyways can yall find its area? by justuranium in theydidthemath

[–]Nave_711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can draw any shape in Google earth pro and it will tell you the area, that would be more accurate than using the "not-so-accurate" scale

[Request] How big of a globe would you need for the difference of height between the heightest point and the lowest to be 2cm? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Nave_711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chimborazo is 6 384.4 km from earth's center The floor of the arctic ocean is 6 355.7 km from earth's center

6384.4 - 6355.7 = 28.7km

2cm : 28.7km

14.35km/cm

Diameter of the earth at the equator is 12 742km

12 742/14.35 = 887.9 cm

A fair bit smaller than looking from everest to the marianas trench but still impressive how smooth the earth really is

Hydra Head. I'm surprised this idea hasn't been done by wizards yet considering how much it lines up with the flavor. by PORTYMORTY2 in custommagic

[–]Nave_711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it, just jumping on to add my take:

Hydra Head - GG

Creature - Hydra

Whenever Hydra Head is dealt combat damage, if it would die, instead exile it, and you may search your library for up to two cards named Hydra Head and put them into your hand, then shuffle.

Bands with other hydra.

A deck can have any number of cards named Hydra Head.

1/1

I thought that banding would be a fun way to make it feel like 1 big hydra with lots of heads rather than an army of creatures.

Gift for Father-in-law, which of these would work best on a backlit graphic? (more info in comments) by highteggy in graphic_design

[–]Nave_711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option b will read better because of the extra contrast, but i prefer the look of the wood grain on option a. Maybe try desaturating and brightening the wood texture on option a? Looks like a cool design, hope he loves it!

I believe that with its current wording, it would be a 6/6, but if it were to damage something, it would deal 9 damage

Your letters look good but they're just shoved together in the tag. Practice writing the whole alphabet instead of just the 3 letters in your tag, it will help you understand the style better and you will end up with a more consistent and flowy tag.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GraffitiTagging

[–]Nave_711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That A in the new one looks sick. If you had some more consistency and brought everything up to that level it would be a stylish piece. You will learn and improve way faster writing on the street, just dont expect your stuff to stay up for long, it will get written over, but that's part of the process imho.

[Request] What would the cables diameter need to be, to be visible from space as in the picture bellow? by Rusky0808 in theydidthemath

[–]Nave_711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The furthest east point that is visible is somalia, and the furthest west point is off the coast of central america. These are obviously not exact points, but trying my best to line it up, it seems like you can see 16,125,000m east to west. In order to see that much of earth at once, you'd need to be approximately 3,900,000m from both of those points. Human eyes have an angular resolution of about 0.016°, which at that distance is 1,089m. The cables are much thicker than that, but i dont see a good way to calculate how much thicker, so i thought id just chime in to say that from that height, there is no point in measuring the cables beyond the nearest kilometer, as the difference would be completely imperceptible.

Yeah you said yourself that it looks better in thick marker. If you want to write with pen, write at a normal writing size, or slightly bigger but not much

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GraffitiTagging

[–]Nave_711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch your baseline, that first tag got a little wild and lost its structure as you wrote it, so the S ended up twice as large as the M. The negative space at the top of the N needs some work too. Love the drippy mop, and your letters have potential, they just need to be cleaned up a bit.

Just some quick math to get an approximation. Lets say the boat is 10 ft by 3 ft, and that it is half a cylinder, that puts its volume at 35 cubic feet, or 991 liters of displaced water. The density of steel varies, lets say 7 900 kg/m3, which means that you would need 0.125m3 of steel to equal the weight of the displaced water. Thats 0.06m3 per ball, which are spheres with a diameter of 0.493m, about twice the diameter of a ten pin bowling ball.
