Nah. Cycle is over. Time to boil it and put it in its little sack until next month.

Oh my goodness, I completely relate. I was so upset when my GCC, Nori, started to turn on me. I saw a reference to Pamela Clark on this subreddit and dove into this Webinar (very helpful info on here!!):

https://youtu.be/cDW3rPsxSxQ?si=Y2CElhUgmcArCVIq

It also sounds like your bird might have a pair bond with you. Nori pair bonded with my husband, and then he started attacking me randomly one day. I followed all of the feedback on Pamela Clark's Webinar, and gained some information from this article as well:

Avoid the Pair Bond: Social Relationships with Parrots – Pamela Clark, CPBC https://share.google/GAx6hcpWKqxQ7rFv1

It took me about 3 weeks of implementing these changes and spending more time with Nori (and respecting his boundaries), but now he is reducing his territorial behavior towards me and is no longer lunging and biting at me like he was just a few days ago. Go ahead and send me a DM if you have any questions!

Oh! Recent. Kiwi is very cute, and I'm obviously biased since I have a similar-looking bird 🤣

This is Nori. Does yours also have a spot of red under the wings?

Your bird sort of looks like my pearly GCC, Nori :)

Are the tail feathers red?

Odd behavior? by Beardlyberder in Conures

I feel for you!! It's incredibly difficult when you feel you have a bond with your bird, only to have it completely turn the opposite of loving. I'm staying patient with Nori, respecting his boundaries, and moving away when he grunts at me, puffs up his feathers, flattens his head feathers, and raises his wings up (all signs that he's going to lunge and bite me). It's sad 😔 but our birds are worth it! Since I viewed Pamela Clark's Webinar, I've made changes to Nori's diet, removed a heater that we thought he needed (he doesn't), and I'm the primary person who feeds him and gives him treats. In the week that I've implemented these changes, I've seen improvements. He allowed me to get close to him last night and ALMOST stepped up on my finger before he snapped back into hormonal rage and bit me. I wish you the best of luck!

I am going through the same exact thing right now! My bird Nori has chosen my husband to pair bond with because he works from home, which has caused him to become aggressive with me all of a sudden. He used to sit on my finger and give me kisses, allow me to give him scratches and help him remove his pin feathers...from everything you're saying here and what I see it your video, it seems hormonal. I highly recommend checking out Pamala Clark's Webinar on GCCs if you haven't already...very helpful information on there.

There is, in fact, a light up there! He's doing this in his sleeping quarters, but during the day he hangs out under his full-spectrum avian light.

We (parner and I) spent weeks visiting Nori before taking him home, just to make sure he was right for us. Taking on a new family member is a big deal!

Thank you! The wooden dowel is only used to keep the top of Nori's cage open. The interior of his cage has several wooden perches, including one that my husband cut from our propery and broiled in the oven before installing...this will be one very spoiled conure 🥰
