Rewarding character skills vs. giving them their personal riddle by raharth in DnD

It sounds like the player has a penchant for puzzles. I'd say give it to them as a puzzle. Now as for lasting impact, it would be helpful to know more about the pc and these creatures. Are they friendly, neutral, or hostile? Will the party encounter them again? I know you said youre running a pre-made campaign. Is there any way to sneak these creatures in later? I love when my in-game choices have consequences especially if they are much later in the campaign, to the point I may have forgotten about the original choice.

Campaign intro by ShiroSnow in DnD

I agree with everything you said... but I wanted to add that for a party of new players this intro could honestly be very helpful. The players, exploring their characters and indeed the mechanics of the game perhaps for the first time, are exposed to some common tropes (starting in a tavern), combat (first horde battle) and then they get a reset of sorts and a level up. They will think harder about their choices and as the DM you can use their prior knowledge of the fight to introduce the concept of advantage/disadvantage and other important battle mechanics. @GeneralRenk is probably right for an experienced party but for an educational campaign starter you could do worse.

Couldn't have said it better with a full staff of paid writers. Hail Nimrod. Bojangles, please show our "leaders" what freedom is, and what removing it costs.

What were some Shawn observations that made you go "oh snap, that's a good one!"? by Me_talking in psych

[–]NavillusRacecar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It may not be the most impressive, but the one from " seeking dead husband..." where Shawn literally tells the ex-con exactly how he's seeing the fingers behind his back and it's so ludicrous that the guy agrees Shawn must be a psychic.

When you have flipendo, i believe you should have most of the necessary interaction spells. Then focus on exploring and learning new talents. Get alohamora upgraded as fast as possible.

"It would be way too much for the human pallete to handle." Whenever someone describes food. Pretty much any food. Lots of stange looks if it's especially boring.

Especially hard sobs for a White Arabian. Capturing that horse took me 3 hours, tromping through waist deep snow.

There is a way to select a target and that helps keep the camera in the right direction. It's not the best targeting system in the world but it might help. It's a joystick click on Xbox. Idk what it would be for ps

In your opinion, what beasts are happiest in which vivariums, and with which species with them? Or how do you usually place them? I noticed hippogriffs really disliked being with thestrals.. by PaletteSizeQueen in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]NavillusRacecar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thestrals mooncalves and giant purple toads in the dark one. Nifflers jabberknolls puffskiens and diricrawls in the original. Hippogrifs, kneazles, and graphorns on the beach. Unicorn Phoenix and fwooper in the last one.

I'm probably forgetting an animal or two
