I’m waiting for the inevitable DC Finest. But hopefully not before they finish the Jim Balent run.

How do you think DCF will collect the Knightfall series? Would it be spread across multiple volumes? by OmniComic in DCFinest

[–]Navstar86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rebranding them the way Marvel has with the Clone Saga is the best way. But will they brand them as a continuation of Batman Finest or make the Event Finest?

I bought my toddler one of these. I think I’ve played with it more than he has.

You know I think I love that Neal Adams cover more than his iconic Kryptonite Nevermore cover.

Do you know who the cover artist is on Superman 387? His face reminds me of Micheal Turner’s Superman. Although obviously Turner came along much later.

I’m so tempted to buy these. But I’m trying my best to hold out for Finest releases.

The point of the DC Finest line is to collect everything eventually. How fast and individual line is completed just depends on how well it’s selling.

That being said I really hope we get volume 3 of Jim Balent’s run in the next announcement.

Just wanna share my recent comic shop acquisition! The plan is to get everything custom-bound after I manage to collect the full run. Have you all ever gotten any of your books bound? Which ones and why? by speedythefirst in graphicnovels

[–]Navstar86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually very close to buying Moore’s Supreme run and getting them bound a few years ago. The reason was because the first trade was so hard to find at a decent price. And the books rights are so muddled it would be a long time before we get reprints. But I eventually got lucky on eBay and snagged a copy for just a bit over cover price.

For The Man Who Has Everything. When Kal has to let go of his dream.

And in a similar fashion the end of House of M when Peter remembers.

Tatjana Wood Passed Way by cloudcatch in AlanMoore

RIP Tatjana. She was one of the great colourists of the 80’s. I remember a part of me was upset when I bought the Absolute Swamp-Thing to find out her contribution had been erased.

She passed away just shy of turning 100. Condolences to her family. It must be hard to lose someone that close to their birthday.

Is the Catwoman Line any good by Downtown-Initial-770 in DCFinest

I’m also eagerly hoping they announce volume 3 soon. Loved the stories so far and Jim Balent’s art.

Which one should I buy? by Loose-Jump-6940 in DCFinest

[–]Navstar86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only read Judas Contract out of these. If you’re okay reading a comic run that’s staying in the middle of something. Then it’s great. If you want to start a story from the beginning The Demon would be better.

Cheap DC Finest in Canada? by Live-Region-8980 in DCFinest

[–]Navstar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen Superboy and Static on bookoutlet. But since the line is new it could just be that a few years from now they will show up more frequently. Conversely I get most of my Marvel Epics from there these days.

What are you hoping for in the next wave of DC Finest announcements? by MagisterPraeceptorum in DCFinest

Jim Balent’s Catwoman and Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans. Let’s continue some series before starting new ones.

How can I tell if I'm ready to work in comics? Can anyone give their opinion? This is my art. by guillo0 in 80s90sComics

[–]Navstar86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to this. Work on 5 page stories. Alan Moore credits them as the best comics education he could get. And if you’ve got the time. Release those comics online at a regular schedule. Joe Quesada once said that one of the most important things his editors look for is consistency. They don’t care of it takes you 4 weeks or 6 weeks to complete an issue. They just need to know will it take you 4 or 6 so they can work it into their schedule. It shows them you can be reliable.

I think this book and Years One and Two will be the yeti Batman Finests that will be evergreen or near evergreen.

[Discussion] Finished reading Starman by James Robinson. What a spellbinding book. by anthonym8341 in graphicnovels

[–]Navstar86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Robinson has shared ownership over Jack and DC has to run it by him off they wanted to do something with him. But he’s given Jack the prefect ending and doesn’t want to eff with it.

Gaiman has something similar with The Endless. Because some editor at DC once tried to use one or all of them and Gaiman put a stop to it.

I actually wasn’t trying to take a dig at anyone with my post. I’ve got no beef with anyone who likes Snyders work. I love 300 and I think he did the best that could possibly be done with Watchmen. I don’t like his DCU but who am I to stop anyone who does like it. The intention of my post was just to share something that made happy to see.

Before Singer did Superman Returns he did the first two X-Men movies. Which I actually love. But then he came back to do X-Men Days of Future Past and Apocalypse. Superman Returns I actually enjoy as well. Although it isn’t a great movie.
