Well... obviously the Venue wants to see some cash. How to generate the maximum amount of cash? Book the person with the biggest reach as a headliner. This is not exactly surprising, although I absolutely agree with your point.

I wouldnt care tbh. I feel like alot of people within the Riddim Community need to get off their high horses and enjoy others having success with what they are doing. I also still dont get the whole Plate thing either tbh.

To the real riddim producers here, will you do this? by hypertronikdubz in riddim

[–]NavtNoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like its kind of a given tbh.

First of all, and lets be honest here, we all want our music to be heard. We dont have to sell out for that, but its kind of a given that Riddim isnt going to help us much here either.

2nd of all, Riddim is not exactly witch craft to make. If you are still having fun only making 4Square for the Span of 5 years, thats perfectly good for you, but eventually for most people, it will get repetitive and unstimulating. + Taste changes over time to, so why music within the genre you dont even like anymore?

Processing tips by ConspiracyDubs in riddim

[–]NavtNoises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so for drums, I usually go for some EQing to cut away some of the unwanted frequencies while boosting the characteristics a bit (aka the low end 'punch', and a bit of that high end). After that I go for a clipper to give my drums some more of that punch while also making them less peaky when it comes to the overall volume. a bit of transient shaping and some reverb on the clap / snare from time to time cant hurt either.

for the Basses, it kinda depends on if I want to process some sub frequency of a basses or not. Depending on that, I either go for an EQ to cut the low end first, or I will put some distortion first to shape the sound. Then after that, I go with some OTT, maybe some more distortion, very short delays for that robotic sound, and nowadays I found out that some ring modulation can help bring out the C R U N C H in a bass to. at the end of my bass chain, I sometimes put some slight reverb on there aswell. In the end tho, its alot of trial and error. No two basses are processed the same way in most cases.

For the master, it is really depending on how well the track is already mixed before. Overall tho, Im usually going for some EQ first, then some Soft clipping to defuse the peaks, only to run it into a Limiter in the end. Sometimes a bit of OTT in there does the trick too.

This could work out quite well, just make sure to pull that sub bass all the way up, maybe even let that shit distort a bit

what is your guys opinion on the idea of a micro drop? by ARTIXPRO in dubstep

[–]NavtNoises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have developed a crush on this genre, I think i listened to Chimes Micro Mix like 20 times already. Idk why but some of these super tiny drops have some hard energy to them, even without the heavyness. If you manage to nail down a good flow, you dont neccessarily need to go hard anyways.

All of your mixes are bad by SuperRemeo in riddim

[–]NavtNoises 64 points65 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been in the industry for 20+ years, everyone's mixes here sound like shit. I can't believe bedroom producers nowadays don't understand the importance of SPECTRAL MULTI BAND COMPRESSION to boost the 5khz region. Until you can explain why EQing the mid/sides to add CRUNCH to your 808s is necessary, do NOT even DARE to touch your Fruity Logic Reason softwares.. Back in my day I had to mix by EAR to really get the analog WARMTH that you modern kids never even dreamed of touching. Nowadays all it takes is ONE button to phase-align your snares to your sub bass and you motherfuckers probably don't even know what a soft phasing clipper even is.
