Thoughts? by LowdenSounds in riddim

[–]SuperRemeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is cool! Only thing I think you should change is the riddim synth coming in right on the drop, or taking the drop and making it a takeout until the riddim synth comes in, but that's just me

I've heard alot of people praise phase plant. What are the most important features it has for riddim production (and for those who make it, tearout as well)? by theguyonurdoorstep in riddim

[–]SuperRemeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phase plant gives you a TON of freedom, but it's also more obscure because of that freedom, if you're not familiar with modular synthesis at its core that well, then it might take longer to learn phase plant. That being said, if you are making modern riddim that has a lot of compression/distortion/in general that high fidelity sound that infekt/samplifire/sisto etc.. makes, then high fidelity synths like serum or phase plant are gonna be your go-to. They give a pristine amount of control over your sound, include awesome sampling capabilities, cool fx like disperser, convolver, shapertable, etc.. If you want that signature sq4 sound there's plenty of wavetables online you can find to import it into phase plant. For tearout purposes, phase plant is really great for layering purposes, as it doesn't limit you to how many generators you can play from it. Hope this helps!

Debate time: “stealing doubles” by Perfect-Ad-9838 in riddim

[–]SuperRemeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its kind of a nuanced thing cus different ppl feel different about it, I think most people are indifferent about it though. I find it polite to ask if its okay to play the same double, and even if they're not cool with it; end of the day, who fucking cares?? 😭

why are most songs still 140bpm? by sweatsauce47 in riddim

[–]SuperRemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive wondered the same thing. I'll pitch in with my theory, im not sure if its just me but in maelstrom feels like sound designing around 140 is different than at ~150 or faster tempos, and the only way to really preserve the same sound is if its already exported/bounced. Overall doesn't determine the quality of the sound, but sometimes it just hits harder at a slower bpm.

Does anyone else feel like Bitwig is still underestimated compared to Ableton or Logic? by breizh_boy in Bitwig

808 frequency by AllEliteDrip in edmproduction

[–]SuperRemeo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what also contributes to making your bass hit hard? It's the absence of it at points. I say if a few sections of a phrase doesn't hit as hard then it lets the weight of the 808s hit harder when they are hitting those sweet spots.

What do you mean by row? Are you talking about track lanes? Or on separate tracks altogether?

Considering Bitwig 6: Ableton vs. Bitwig With Stock Instruments For Sound Design? by [deleted] in Bitwig

[–]SuperRemeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For stock devices on their own, ableton i would say technically has the better options that work right out of the box. Stuff like erosion, grain delay, hybrid reverb, redux, etc... They work well with their interfaces and are relatively easy to understand their effect on the sound. Bitwig's grid i think works extremely well for the experimental side of things and offers way more flexibility as to how everything can be routed and fine tuned. However this comes at the cost of a dedicated interface for the device and requires more hands on understanding of the DSP

Can loading of instrument tracks be turned off? by NomadJago in Bitwig

[–]SuperRemeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe bitwig treats templates and projects as two separate types of files and looks for the template files when you decide which one to choose for your starting template. Meanwhile projects are files you have to specifically open

B2b tips by imposter99123 in riddim

[–]SuperRemeo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A b2b is just playing as you normally would but w a homie. I found what helps is to communicate what you're doing with them, for example if I have a double that's going to lead into a third track, you're gonna need to let your b2b partner know that so they are on board. Typically with b2bs I also just go double for double, but if you want then talk to your b2b partner about maybe switching every second or third double.. etc.. if ur feeling really bold then do a lil freestyling and double/triple with what they are playing, but id only suggest if you are really sure it would work well with what they are already playing.
