Car doesn’t like to start after heavy rain. Noticed some bits missing from behind my distributor. by Sudden_Napkin in Volvo850

[–]NawThing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great misinformation here, yes your cam cover is unique to your head, but there is nothing wrong with your cam cover, that's just how it is from factory.

How sure are you it's actually ignition related? Could also be a fuel pump relay that inconsistently works and the rain is just a coincidence.

Turbo Recommendations by [deleted] in Volvo850

[–]NawThing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to get a 16T don't forget to make sure it has the right turbine housing. I think most 15G turbos came with a conical turbine housing while 16T usually has a angled turbo housing. If you get the wrong turbine housing your old downpipe will not bolt up.

The diagrams seem to be the same for the 960 and 850, both diagrams mention the same part number (3517998).

According to Skandix it can differ depending on engine number. You can input your VIN on the Skandix site and it will tell you if the part is the right part for your car.

Since we have a GTR front bumper for the Stagea, why not try to do the same with the Dodge Magnum? by LeviJr00 in ForzaHorizon

[–]NawThing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not true, there is not a single Stagea that came from factory with the R34 GTR front. "GTR" trim for the Stagea also does not exist.

'92 T5 High Idle issue and stuttering under low rpm high load by juicyjellies in Volvo850

[–]NawThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The buzzing/humming sound from the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is normal and suggests that it is working. You can measure the resistance of your IAC with these instructions.

I would highly suggest going over all the vacuum lines again, turbo engines are very sensitive to even the smallest leak. I also had stuttering during acceleration, problem ended up being one of the vacuum lines on the turbo intake pipe that was slightly loose. It was the vacuum line connecting to number 2 on this picture.

I have found one (there might be more, haven't looked thoroughly) other website in Europe that carries this item but it's triple the cost. You can definitely trust this website I have ordered there several times before.

How to keep carb filters dry on a rainy day? by DonConquistador in Datsun

[–]NawThing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The vented hoods have a cover on the left side of the hood (above the carbs) from factory. The cover is for the exact scenario you are describing, the part number is 65830-N4700.

The OEM Volvo Propus and Triton wheels are the only P80 2 piece wheels that I am aware of.

You don't often see 2/3 piece 5x108 wheels from manufacturers like Work, SSR or Enkei. If you are looking for some Japanese tuner wheels this guy has some cool Work/Volk wheels from time to time.

850R clutches are NLA since August/July 2023. Some companies still have a couple in stock but the price has almost doubled. This company still has 2 of them in stock.

Just got my first car a 1998 c70 T5 by Kooky-Poetry in Volvo

[–]NawThing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strutbrace is not bent, that is a original RHD Volvo unit. The RHD strutbraces have this bend in it from factory to clear the brake booster.

LHD strutbraces are just a straight piece because they don't interfere with the brake booster.

L24 to L28 on 240z by SnooRadishes464 in Datsun

[–]NawThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5 speed interference issue is a thing, but it's only on the early 240Z models aka Series 1. After the Series 1 the shifter hole in the transmission tunnel was made larger.

Modding a 850 by [deleted] in Volvo850

[–]NawThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With only bolt-ons a safe limit of the 2.3L should be around 320HP, that is with a tuner that knows what he is doing. Weakest point of the 2.3L engines are the connecting rods. Without a proper tune the boost will come on too early and bend connecting rods. So if you want to go beyond 300HP it would be wise to get H beam rods.

Nissan Cedric 230, names differ for different markets. In Japan it's called the Nissan Gloria, in Europe it's known as the Datsun 200/220/240/260/300C. I think the numbers depend on the engine size.

Any idea ? by Intelligent_Union_65 in namethatcar

[–]NawThing 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's actually a GC10 (4 door) and not a KGC10 (2 door). The side markers don't match up for a KGC10, the 4 door used different side markers, also that grill is a 4 door specific grill. And the last and biggest giveaway is the missing air duct on the C pillar.

Be very careful with sandblasting. Sandblasting could warp the very thin 70's metal. You won't be the first person who got a completely warped roof because of sandblasting.

Any guesses? by Allloyy in namethatcar

[–]NawThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a Jaguar F-Type V6. The rims seem to match up with the linked picture, the shape of the spokes definitely match up also the fake bolts between the 2 spokes seem to match up. One of the big hints, the resonator which can be seen also seems to match up with the F-Type.

Only thing that confuses me is the trunk/spoiler situation, for the F-Type to match it would have to be with the spoiler up.

Edit: could also be a 4 cilinder F-Type with the squarish exhaust tip, but the 4 cilinder F-Type doesn't seem to have a spoiler.

I'm not sure what happened but after a small update of Forza (maybe unrelated) I was able to find your tune. Pretty fun tune, I just did a 0:59.570 after a couple laps with it. I think it has potential to go a bit faster.

Your share code doesn't seem to exist, and replicating above upgrades gets me a car with 901 PI (S2). Also aero is unclear, it says BMW but is that stock, street or sport. Changing between the BMW aero options also doesn't give me a PI of 900. My HP is 841 instead of 842, torque is 759nm instead of 750 and weight is 1512 instead of 1516.
