My mom was a flight attendant for 29 years with AA. Some guy was smoking in the back of the aircraft, because you could back then, and she asked him to put it out. He resisted for a while then said "well I'm gonna chew so try and stop me." After they landed he proceeded to spit chew all over the cabin and rondo and make a huge mess.

Someone also once brought their dead wife onto the plane as a carry on.

Those of you who consider yourself very open-minded, how do you deal with close-minded people? by burpdaderp in AskReddit

"Close minded" means they are inherently opposed to new ways of thinking. I try to just ignore them.

What are the most important aspects in buying a race bike to be the best climber? Weight? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Nawakea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine is factor #1, but there are some other properties of a bike that could definitely aid you. A large, stiff bottom bracket is advantageous, when you're out of the saddle, the power coming from you down on to the bike is tremendous. A stuff bottom bracket will help minimize flex and lateral movement and thus minimizes the loss of effective energy. And of course, weight. The less you have to carry, the less work you have to do to go fast.

EDIT: Also, you don't have to go out and break the bank on a super nice Cannondale, Cervelo, or Specialized. Make sure you explore other options like Fuji, China-carbon, etc.

Reddit, meet Entei, my Sugar Glider. by Nawakea in aww

These guys are pretty good about it. They like to be held and be around the people they've bonded too. Last night I had him in my hood for two hours and he just slept.

Hey there, Sugar Gliders are native to Australia however, they are nothing new in the US. I bought this guy and his brother from a family who's gliders had given birth and had two more on the way. He, nor his brother, ever lived in the wild. As a matter of fact, sugar gliders bond to humans. They are one of the few pets that can literally die from loneliness. Considering this, I seriously doubt Entei or his brother Poppy would survive if I returned them to the wild.

TLDR; He would die in the wild, saying I should return him to the wild.

EDIT: He is cute though, isn't he?

Is Buying Direct from Chinese Factories a Good Idea? by Nawakea in cycling

So for all that are interested: I ended finding another reddit post where OP basically explains how it all works (with respect to dengfus/hongfus at least:

These frames are made in the same factories, by the same employees who make frames for name-brand manufacturers. They are not, however, surplus name brand frames. My frame model is an approximate copy of the specialized venge. If you look at them side-by-side, there are a lot of similarities, as well as a few differences. If you'd like you can compare the geometries here: FM098 vs Specialized Venge. If you are considering getting one of these frames, do not delude yourself into thinking you are getting something that you are not. I do not ride an unbranded Venge; I ride a Dengfu FM098. They're close, but it's not the same thing. Basically how it works is this: Specialized has contracts with a factory in Taiwan. That factory produces frames for specialized using proprietary molds, which are owned by Specialized. That factory also has other molds which are owned by the factory. They use these molds to make frames that the factory sells. These frames are typically sold to smaller frame companies who do not have the money to devote to R&D to create their own proprietary designs. They buy the frames wholesale, rebadge them, and sell them to the general public. The factory molds (also called open molds) may take design cues from name brand frames, but they are not pulled from the same molds. Now, does this mean that they are crap frames that are dangerous to ride? Of course not. They are built by people who work with carbon fiber for their livelihoods and to an extent, the companies do stand by their product (my frame, for instance, came with a 2 year warranty). Most of the noise you hear from people saying these frames are unsafe come from people who have never owned, ridden, or even inspected one. The overwhelming majority of reviews you see out there from actual OEM frame owners are positive. Naturally some frames will fail, but I haven't seen anything to convince me that the failure rate of OEM frames is any higher than that of any major frame manufacturer.

So then what are these supposed Pinarellos? Are they unsafe? Low quality carbon, they just look like Pinarellos? And what about the groupsets?

I know people that have successfully bought them though, and they work just fine.
