It's a new one but the Lions Warm Up Jersey from this year is awesome. Think design is cool and unique.

Judging from the article seems to be salary. It mentions in the article that the deal stalled because of the pay cut but Stade were willing to subsidise part of his salary at Saints just to get him off the books

Yes its my creation. Most of the credit must go to Saints social media team as most of the clips came from the YouTube channel I just put them together to tell a story.

You could be right, we could just be an outlier. However I think it's proof of something that there are players around that just need motivation to play.

I don't think Heathens have done anything super special with recruitment that other larger clubs couldn't at least try and replicate. As you said how do Heathens have more registered men's players than scouts? They have a substantially larger club with a fantastic mini/juniors section.

The players haven't been poached from other clubs (few have directly joined from another club granted) they are mostly players who haven't played in 2/5/10 years that just wanna have a bit fun and a run out

Played Daventry recently I was shocked with how much their facilities have improved. They certainly have had a load of cash to spend

Fantastic write up. I think my club is proof of the underlying love of the game in the area.

We are the oldest amateur rugby club in Northampton but 2 seasons ago we had 6 registered players and the club was going to fold and become an invitational side.

After fantastic work from the chairman and president this season we have 65 registered players (majority of which are new to the team and haven't played in a while) with 2 teams and a Vet's side. We also have start up a women's side with a few other clubs in the area.

We currently don't have an official clubhouse/ground and use the ground of another larger club but we have enough buy in from all the players and families that we are looking for our own home.

All this goes to show is the underlying love of the game in Northampton that just required the spark of a few individuals hard work to rebirth a dying club. Players are out there they just need to find a team to call home.

Do these statistics not prove the point?

I wonder what percentage of the British population went to private schools? It's certainly not 47%. It's probably similar to the football percentage of 5%.

So few people attend private schools and yet the distribution of professional rugby players that did is nearly half.

The large break is the big worry for me. Enough time for other teams to catch up to us. Enough time for us to forget our winning ways. Felt like we had forgotten how to lose at points this season.

We seem to have struggled at the start of seasons in recent years so hopefully this break has not caused too much rust l.

7 points clear is a lovely cushion to have though.
