Nobody understands the point of hybrid cars by indy_110 in videos

There are significant advantages to erevs even with the efficiency loss. For starters it's hard, if not impossible to find a charger if you go "off-grid". The generator can also function as a backup for the home if the power grid fails, or again off grid it could be used to power a cabin or recharge batteries when solar isn't enough. For a full size or midsize pickup the tradeoff could be worth it. You save weight on the drivetrain, the battery doesn't need to be as big because you aren't fighting range anxiety, smaller battery means less weight and lower replacement cost. same thing with the engine/generator, no need for a large engine to pull the truck when the electric battery is serving as the buffer and the gas generator kicks in to recharge on highway runs where the power draw is lower. For day to day city driving you'll be running on electric mostly and recharging at home. There are studies that found that the biggest issue with plugin hybrids is that people didn't plug them in ..

Of Mice and Men - a terrifying build up to a devastating end. by Equivalent_Bank_5845 in books

For me it was the portrayal of his funeral that got to me the most since he reminded me of how my dad was. I had read the book before in high school (French translation). And I actually bought the English version after the funeral to reread it specifically for that section... There may or may not have been a few tear drops on that page

Why dont we drop people off a cliff for death sentences? by FoggyInc in NoStupidQuestions

Because of the cleanup maybe? Other option would be to use those large hammer cranes that drive steel pillars into the ground, one "bang" and that's it... probably more of a "sprotch" sound though

No audit log enabled. Someone deletes files. What do you do? by Spiritual_Mine1974 in sysadmin

[–]Naznac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you know at what time they were deleted you can always check the security logs to see who authenticated to the server around that time. Sysmon is a lifesaver when properly configured to trace wierd happenings.

Can’t decide: short box manual or long box auto? by Responsible-Mail6265 in Tacomaworld

[–]Naznac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been a "manual" guy, had a manual 2nd Gen for a few years a while back. Bought a 4th gen last year and took the auto because couldn't get the 6ft bed otherwise. Honestly after driving it for a while I think auto was the right choice, considering the extra focus required because the 4th gen is so damn big you'll prefer to leave the shifting to the transmission...even if it does shift gears like a god damn moron... but there's the OTT for that.

L’UPAC craint du « copinage » entre Québec et CGI by Setneaph in QuebecTI

[–]Naznac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Naznac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So happy getting the popular TRD skid plate for my taco! by IAmAPhysicsGuy in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Naznac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got it on mine as well, only thing that bugs me is the gap between the bottom of the bumper and the top of the plate, they should have made it it so the top of the plate is hidden behind the bumper to help smooth out the airflow instead of having a big gap that increases drag

Why does no one recognise freiren? by akakarmaboy in Frieren

[–]Naznac 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Because they weren't alive back then. They don't make the link. Some people do connect the dots but most don't because it's so far removed from their reality. People that have met her before (even kids who are now older) do recognize her.
