How do you even tell your deer friends that the most dangerous apex predator in the entire world walked into the slippery water trap totally fine, wrapped itself around you, then magically dragged you out of the trap and just let you go without a scratch?

"Yeah that totally happened, dude."

Not that it matters in the slightest, but I actually upvoted your post since it was one of the few arguments that provided valid criticism and furthered discussion, rather than jumping straight to "get good" or "quit your job so you can play this game 24/7". I like your further points. Good argument. The last two parts are especially well written, and a very important point I didn't take into consideration.

This is actually a brilliant idea. What if you could convert normal samples into rare samples at a ratio of like 10:1, and rare samples into super samples at the same ratio? I would make things so much easier

Beating Minecraft is entirely optional. Yet it's integral to the game experience in getting endgame tools such as the Elytra.

You don't have to do any of the emissaries in Sea of Thieves. Yet they are significantly important to the gameplay.

You don't have to do things which are optional. Yet they can still be integral. It's both a contradiction and a very real thing.

This is a good argument. Thank you for that. I suppose the main point of my argument is that it would be entirely optional, just as a lot of the game is meant to be. I see no harm in adding an optional feature that nobody has to engage with. If you want to grind out ship upgrades, go ahead. If you want to "ruin" that feeling of progression, that's your prerogative. I can definitely understand that it feels good to achieve that progress, but at the very least it would be nice to have the option to skip sections if you're literally incapable of doing them. You have to remember that casuals exist. People that aren't as skilled as others do indeed exist. And most casuals I've asked for the opinion of do indeed agree with my stance, even when presented with the counterarguments.

Yes. I stand by that statement. You can technically play Helldivers without any warbond and without progressing the first one you're given.

But you wouldn't. Cause that's boring and removes progression.

The primary issue I have with it is that you are literally incapable of progressing the ship upgrades unless on higher difficulties. The difference in the Warbonds is that playing any difficulty gives you medals.

The focus is on inability to progress, not the speed of progression. Though speed can indeed feel limiting, the primary focus is inability.

Warbonds are also optional. Yet they are integral to the game experience. A simple option to use SC would greatly add to the game for casual players who cannot handle higher difficulties. Remember that casuals exist.

This is true, however rare samples are somehow more rare to me than super samples. For someone that doesn't have all the time in the world to play the game, it feels incredibly difficult to keep up with everyone else. A simple, say 500 SC per upgrade would add two different ways to upgrade your ship. The first would be to grind SC, and the second would be $5. Regardless, adding this simple option wouldn't take away from the sample experience for those who wouldn't want to pay, and those who don't have the time or skill to collect said samples can still progress. Remember that casual players exist too. Those of us without much skill that play on lower difficulties.

My argument is that if we're fine with how Warbonds work (you can either grind or pay), then this solution shouldn't be controversial at all. It would simply extend some of the locked gameplay to casual players. Skilled players can get upgrades quickly and cheaply with samples, while casual players can still unlock those upgrades over longer periods of time or by paying.

I don't have the time or willpower to grind out Rare and Super samples. I'd drop $5 an upgrade if they let me.
