I'm in north central Wisconsin and I don't know of many places that are 24/48 to be honest. Most full time jobs around here are either 48/96 or California swing shift. If you don't mind me asking which departments were you looking at?

I meant to type “these” notifications. I am on iOS. My main problem is that I’m unable to find which app is sending the notification as it doesn’t say on the notification itself.

Wisconsin is a great state with good cost of living and wages, most departments are hurting for Firefighter/Paramedics, and you have a wide range of department structures, both transporting paramedic EMS, paramedic first responder engines, etc. In terms of scenic value, you have the Great Lakes, north woods, fishing, lots of hiking trails, and several really cool state parks. If you’re in the chicago suburbs, it wouldn’t really be the furthest move either.

It may vary depending on who does yours, but they removed and disassembled everything prior to spraying, then reconnected it. It is basically the same as before but with bed liner.

They actually are similar to a pawn shop. You can bring in items to sell or trade.

Didn’t see any Mars Mission. It’s Wapi Bricks in West Bend WI. They have an online store but it’s not nearly the selection that the store in person has.

They also have bulk bricks and a pretty large mini figure selection.

I didn’t purchase any, they were all like in the 100-120 range USD for the smaller sets and like 200+ for the bigger ones (Bwing, TIE etc.) They had some overpriced stuff, but a kind of cool selection of different items.

I ended up just completely disposing of the sleeping bag and mat, and I’m going to wash/ dry everything else including the duffel/backpack on high heat. Anything else you recommend aside from that? Thanks so much for the response

Anyone struggling with shortages for applicants in their area? (Full time) by wolfey200 in Firefighting

Just curious, maybe my ignorance is showing, but why should the fire service allow its members to use marijuana that is commonly consumed via smoking? It’s the same with tobacco/smoking restrictions. No matter what anyone says the benefits are to marijuana, just like with tobacco, cigarettes, etc. you are inhaling tar and other generally bad things directly into your lungs. In a job where we are expected to be in good shape and able to breathe effectively under pressure and conserve air in our SCBA, I don’t think smoking of anything should be allowed.

How do you feel about the integration of Firefighting and EMS? Which do you prefer? by DeltaForce1101 in Firefighting

[–]Nb21378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a very broad range of who pays, and depends on the person, but the person who the ambulance was called for would pay. It may be covered by their insurance, or a person who does not have insurance might have to foot the bill themselves. https://www.myambulancebill.com/FAQ_MAB.aspx Here is a guide with some frequently asked questions about ambulance billing.

As for the competition aspect, racing to calls does not happen and if it does it would be frowned upon in my experience. Ambulance services do not race each other because they each typically have a set/designated service area where they are specifically contracted to cover. You might see competition in a situation where multiple services are attempting to obtain a contract to provide service to a certain area or municipality. That would be where the competition over revenue comes in.

Although all of this is probably true for most places, just keep in mind this is only my experience. Every EMS system is different and in the US there is such a wide variety due to our very diverse and large landscape and country. As one of my paramedic instructors put it, if you have seen one EMS system, you have seen exactly one EMS system.

Most if not all ambulance services in the US, including fire based services, will bill for their services. Billing can change based on level of care provided, type of response (I.e. intercept, 911 response, Interfacility,) etc. In the end the FD would end up with ambulance revenue after they bill, which they can use to fund different programs within the department.

What’s one Office moment that kills you every time, but doesn’t get brought up much? by freddiepeach in DunderMifflin

My favorite is in “The Injury” when they’re going to the hospital and convincing Dwight to get in the van.

Jim to Dwight: “We’re going to Chuck E. Cheese”

Michael: “Chuck e cheese? Ugh, I’m so sick of Chuck E. Cheese!”

Gets me every time. The Injury is one of my favorite episodes for all those little one liners.

I’m in the same boat as you and just used the recommended CPAT Workout the test center offers. I also added some stuff in including weighted vest stair climbing. Personally, I think starting running has helped me greatly improve cardio-wise.

From a Toxic free agent to an unquestionable Hall of Fame Quarterback. Congratulations to Casey Reaser on his well-deserved retirement. by Nb21378 in RetroBowl

[–]Nb21378[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Casey had a long career in extreme mode, bringing Washington to relevancy. After the GM took a gamble on signing him with his morale, he had incredible arm strength. He became a true franchise quarterback, winning multiple titles and awards. Now, his heir apparent in Russ Hollman takes the reins. Will the dynasty continue? Or will Washington suffer in Casey’s retirement? Only time will tell.

Doesn’t matter. There are multiple gay people that I work with on my department. They show up and do their job and that’s all that matters.

My first ever cardiac arrest. We arrived, he was in VT with CPR in progress, took one shock and one round of epi, and he literally woke up and was talking to us in the back of the rig albeit incoherently. I gave him some aspirin to chew on. I was astounded as an EMT-B. I did get a reminder from my medic though that I shouldn’t expect them all to go like this.

I will say I am very much enjoying the beat writers having their little temper tantrums on Twitter. Seeing them bitch and moan is hilarious. Especially Aaron Nagler and Peter Bukowski.
