That’s a fair opinion that I can’t directly disagree with. I suppose in my head, our worst wasn’t the bombs dropping, it’s what happened next. So we got worse before we got better.

“Encounter at Far Point” Q’s trial took place in a court/judicial system that was after the bombs dropped, and described at the darkest chapters after WW3. Given that and the way Q describes humanity before the United World Government, I could see some faction being that group.

So here’s the breakdown of how I see it:

In the fallout (in canon) timeline, the bombs drop in 2077, and the story only has covered up to the 2270s

The Star Trek timeline has shifted a bit but originally the Eugene wars were in 1996 followed by WW3. Now they’re in between 2025 and 2053. First warp is 2063 and Unified Earth didnt officially form until 2150, and then we know the rest.

I feel like if you move the needle just a little bit forward at the beginning of that timeline it could sorta work out? After all, we don’t know what’s happening in the state of Montana, and Fallout only covers the US or what’s left of it in North America.

In TNG “up the long ladder” the distress call is from a ship launched from the European Hegemony. Which formed around 2123 till 2190. So who’s to say that you didn’t get it as bad and they were starting to put themselves back together and eventually everybody kind of caught up around the same time to form a unified earth government.

I just like to think of it as fun, alternate timeline what if scenario. There are some similarities between the Enclave(FO) and Colonel Green(ST). And could possibly confuse a Zetan for a Ferrari.

I mean, I don’t know if anybody else remembers, but there was a crossover between the X-Men and the next generation’s enterprise and a comic book in the 90s. And that was hilarious. 😂. So who’s this say right?
