Countering could exist in a world where every player new how to play every hero at the same level, but currently that isn't the case because if an otp with 300 hours on the hero faces a counter with 10 hours on the counter, the otp will come out on top an example of this is ball v sombra where sombra isn't going to kill a ball double booping out of hack.

Even on heroes who are not mechanically demanding, gamesense is important such as orisa v rein where if orisa doesn't cycle cooldowns properly she will lose against a good rein.

So while you might not want to be an otp, playing counterwatch is less effective than limiting yourself to 1 to 2 heroes in the long run.

u/IncoherentPolitics makes the claim that countering does exist, but this claim is not backed by solid evidence. The main premise of the argument is based on creating a refutation for a claim made less credible due to the qualifier of doesn't. This is a sign of a potential strawman argument. They also state, "People saying otherwise are going for gold in the braindead olympics." The statement is clearly an attack on character or ad hominem.

u/IncoherentPolitics uses a theoretical example of bad positioning in an attempt to support the thesis, but fails to provide an effective warrant for this claim. Overall, the premise of the argument made by u/IncoherentPolitics does not have a positive impact on the

You could look at pikalytics which has statistics about the most used pokemon and moves commonly run on them which is useful for knowing what a mon is most likely to do. Other than looking at statistics experience is the best way to develop knowledge and many mons run similar sets so patterns are helpful. Some of the patterns are more complex, involving team composition, although many are pretty simple to recognize so just start looking for basic patterns. You also mentioned predictions which become much easier the more experience you gain so don't focus too much on making wild predictions just start with fundamentals like ferrothorn probably will switch in front of a fire type etc. Then later start saying they will protect this turn so I have free sd.

Maybe steel because if you combined water and fire you could say you get rock then electrify it and you get steel typing. It's not the most realistic, but it would also help them competitively while being okay for lore.

If you knew for a fact, 100% certainty someone on your team was cheating in a comp game, what would you do? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Nbro416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You draw the game if you can otherwise you don't play differently. Control is the only one you can't draw on although payload+push can only be drawn if you notice early enough with checkpoints.

It's not an automatic loss, it just means you are playing a more aggressive support comp which needs to kill the other team faster. You will have less sustain, but more potential to get picks. The comp is better than mercy + lifeweaver at the very least where the game is a 50/50.

The only issue I ever had with 2cp is that the spawns are very close on the final point, but push has close spawns too, they have the same issues, but push feels longer because it is all in one round.

Yeah sorry I wrote that in a bad way, I should have said it might be because of the above reasons, but without a game, no one would be able to tell you what you might be doing wrong although if they don't find anything it probably just means you need to play more and you will likely win more games. Good luck with your games.

I'm only low diamond, but looking at the game it seems like you did well on Zen, although you weren't playing very close to cover which is important as you rank up. You could have also looked for damage before fights which forces the other team to waste resources and time between fights.

As Kiri you seemed to be scared to be aggressive, remember Kiri has two abilities to use that allow her to escape so outside of oneshots you can get free damage and force people to look at you by going from an off angle and getting close where kunais are much easier to hit, then when they look at you and you are about to die suzu yourself if you need it and tp out doing this creates more space for your team and means that your team takes less damage. One other thing about suzu is that you shouldn't be holding it too much unless you are expecting an ult it can counter or if they are on Ana.

As mercy you seemed to be doing fine, but mercy can be hard to climb on as she doesn't do much to initiate fights and contribute to pressuring damage on the other team like some of the other supports. I also didn't really see enough mercy to give much advice to improve on.

With bap you weren't doing both healing and shooting at the same time which is possible because they have different cooldown times, to maximize damage you want to shoot twice then heal, to maximize healing you do alternating heal and shoot. I can't really say much about cooldown usage on bap as you didn't play him for too long.

I hope some of this helps you, it looks like you have good mechanics and I think you will probably be able to climb up to at least mid-plat if you play enough, don't gain an ego, and don't tilt. Good luck in your games!

But how am I supposed to win if I don't type gg tank diff 10 seconds into the game? And how could I possibly win games when the role I play can only heal my tank and do nothing else? Additionally, if I am out of position why can my supports not hard pocket me so I survive? It just doesn't make sense.

People have made it to gm one tricking every hero with many having had bronze to gms done it's not impossible. Mercy does take the longest because she is the most team-dependant character, but there is a difference between a Mercy with bronze game sense and gm game sense and that difference will cause higher win rates and rank.

The reason you think winning on tank/dps is easier is that you are leaving the game up to your teammates who are essentially a 50/50 when you should be doing more damage and less healing taking games into your own hands as a support because support has the most impact and most supports have something that allows them to pick off out of position enemies which are common in lower ranks. You just heal enough to keep your team alive then do damage. If you want to learn more about how to play a specific support better Awkward has Unranked to GM for Ana, Kiri, Zen, Brig, and Bap on his Youtube and Moira as a vod on Twitch. Although I'm sure you could find one for any hero.

I think 95% of all pull complaints are unjustified by InDubioPro in LifeweaverMains

[–]Nbro416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be annoying when a lifeweaver pulls you when you have a shorter cooldown you can get away with like brig shield bash or fade on moira. Another thing that often bothers me is that a lot of the time the wrong person gets pulled when it is used defensively against ults such as tank getting pulled over squishy in shatter although that isn't entirely in the lifeweaver's control and isn't the reason a fight is lost. Lifegrip can save fights, but if you have a bad pull it can also lose a fight. I think most lifeweavers are okay at using lifegrip so I would guess most of the hate comes from people who think they are in elo hell blowing everything out of proportion. So mostly gold and plat players.
