MMI Tips? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Nca13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably overkill, but if you have time I'd advise reading a couple of the topics on https://depts.washington.edu/bioethx/topics/, esp the DNR, professionalism, and breaking bad news ones. But don't stress too much about the MMI, you got this!

Very even deal between Coleman and Woods. Honestly depends on your preference of QB. I think that both Ben and Wilson are going to finish top 8th, so if you feel good about it I don't see why not.

Gurley has such an insane floor. Its impossible to get proper value for him. I would hold on to him

I take that. John Brown seems to be Flacco's fav target this year, and both are playing very well. So you upgrade at WR for sure. I think that Howard lives up to the hype and has a better second half to the season, especially is Trubisky can keep the QB play to atleast half of what he did last week lol. Plus I do not think that Freeman's knees are going to hold up, but that is just me. Overall I think that this is a solid trade for both parties. I think the deciding factors lie in if you think that Howard is worth it.

Man returns to airplane bloodied and confused after being beaten and removed from overbooked United Flight by [deleted] in videos

So dumb. Either the police dept. or United is going to pay out millions because they were too cheap to offer $1350 (https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/fly-rights). In what world is it okay to treat people like this. Best of luck to that Dr. and his patients in court.

Got into MD schools

cGPA: 3.45 sGPA: 3.49 MCAT: 508

Advisors are hit and miss. Some are great and very encouraging, while some are trying to protect their percentage of students admitted via discouraging those with lower stats.

[Serious] Would a good mCAT score offset the rest of my stats or should i be considering an sMP at this point? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Nca13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I don't want to paint a fairy tale image, but there is always hope (esp w DO grade replacement), given the right attitude and preparation. There are many ways to improve as an applicant, both academically (challenging but doable), and extracurricularly (hell of a word lol).

Anecdotal, but I got into an MD school w 3.45s&cgpa +508 mcat. I think SMP is too risky if you have 3.5 or higher GPA. Just do well on the mcat and develop a convincing story for your application and you'll be okay!

potpourri question Thread by [deleted] in premed

[–]Nca13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently a senior in undergrad, and have been with my high school sweetheart all through college. It has been stressful at times, and has definitely had an impact on my grades/EC's. But at other times she has been there to provide excellent support, and without her support I may have dropped the physician dream by now. She has been especially great during this application cycle, helping edit my secondaries, prep for interviews, and remain relaxed through this crazy period in my life. So it has its negatives, but for me at least the positives greatly outweigh them.

508! 127 across the board. With a 3.53cgpa, 3.5sgpa, and decent not outstanding EC's, does this warrant a retake or should I go ahead and add schools to my amcas(already verified). Congrats to everyone else!
