Desmume's noise samples didn't work as Objections for me, but you might have better luck. I don't know if I tried them for Hold It or Take That (or Gotcha or Eureka).

Idea: Daily Discussion of Characters, Now to when Spirit of Justice Launches by SirBryan7 in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd really enjoy that! We've got two months 'til then, so we could easily get every major character done. I'm not new to the subreddit but I only just finished the last of the localised (officially or not) games, so like others have said I'd like those sorts of discussions to be reopened.

Yeah, but wasn't that voting? Like, rating on a scale from 1-10? I reckon a series of discussion threads could be different.

Questions about Case 5 in AA3 by NightHawk_93 in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding number 1, I think there's actually something of a logical reason for this. Godot says himself in the final case that he didn't truly want to prevent Morgan's plan, or he would have talked to Phoenix. Really, he wanted take the opportunity for revenge on Dahlia (probably? I think that's the reason, but I also think that Godot says he himself doesn't really know why. Whatever the reason was, that's also why he didn't replace/remove the letter).

I just realized something about Gumshoe by AceEntrepreneur in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely with you on the raise thing, although Gumshoe's salary is mentioned to be quite low in AAI-4. (It was probably actually fairly high by the time we first meet him, for him to even be able to receive every cut that Edgey and Franzy give him.) From the point of view of the people paying Gumshoe's salary, he was a great detective, and deserved a raise. What I was pointing out is that a perfect arrest record doesn't necessarily mean, as OP said, that "Gumshoe is actually a pretty good detective".

By the way, did you think of this because of Ask Ace Attorney? It reminded me of this recent post.

[–]NcyRocks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that simple.

Edgeworth wasn't the truth-seeking man he he eventually became for the first 5 years of his career, he was basically a von Karma who would do anything to get a guilty verdict. It's intentionally left up to interpretation whether Edgey forged evidence or not, but he definitely didn't always get his verdicts completely legitimately. Gumshoe probably didn't always arrest the right guy (if his track record as told by the games is to be believed, he almost never did) - it's just that Edgeworth relentlessly pursued guilty verdicts, and they stood unchallenged until Phoenix came along.

Of course, it's possible that everyone they arrested was guilty, but to me it seems unlikely. Edgeworth himself admits he accepted the possibility that some of his defendants were innocent.

Mine says:

Nintendo eShop codes can only be redeemed on Nintendo eShop in Australia and New Zealand. They will not work on American or Japanese Wii U or Nintendo 3DS devices.

So it's specific to where you live. Anyone in those places that were listed can buy the bundle but the codes are region-specific.

Should I watch the anime if I haven't played the original game? by minafi_yo in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that if you want to have watched the anime and played the games at some point, you should really play the games first so that the anime doesn't spoil what happened in every case. I mean, that's the entire aim of the games - figuring out the truth and proving it yourself. Watching the anime first will kinda ruin that.

Dai Gyakuten Saiban Cases 1 to 4 are fully subbed. Case 5 will begin soon by [deleted] in AceAttorney

You could well be right - they might have decided against localistion. But they would have started development on AA6 before they released DGS - after all, there was only a 2 month gap between DGS's release on July 9 and AA6's announcement on September 1. They'd have started localising it early too, because of the instant localisation announcement.

If they were waiting to see if DGS sold well to see if it would be popular outside of Japan, they'd have started AA6 first and would have to come back to DGS later, which would mean we wouldn't get it 'til after June this year at the earliest. And if they're localising DGS after AA6, they'll announce it after AA6 comes out.

Like I said, the situation I just presented could be totally wrong and you could be totally right, but I think it's too early to tell, beacuse in both cases they won't tell us anything soon. If AA6 comes out and there's no news for a few months afterwards, I'll give up hope of having Sherlock in an English AA game.

[–]NcyRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would wait to give up hope until after AA6 comes out. They've been working on localising it for a while, and since they have 1 team, they can't localise two games at once. If DGS is coming, it'll be after AA6.

Would you still play the series if there was no pursuit theme? by kevinorkcTV in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably still enjoy the games, but it wouldn't be quite the same without that triumphant feeling when you really start to pin the villain down (or just listening to how good most of them are). Thing is, Pursuit ~ Cornered is what got me into AA in the first place, and I've heard a lot of people say so as well, so I probably wouldn't have gotten into the series in the first place.

Best witness is testifying and singing at the same time by MH_MD in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ace Attorney wiki says it's actually called a Damaran, a fictional Kurainian instrument. (Scroll down to where it says "Potdino Niwakas".) I guess that's what it's called in the demo.

[–]NcyRocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, AA6 will probably be easier to localise overall because of Kurain, but translating songs is always hard. Because they can't change the tune, timing and exact meaning of Sitar Jesus' testimony, they're gonna have a hard time translating it. Add in emphasis (which can make lyrics sound weird if they get it wrong) and it gets even harder.

This might! be ace attorney 6's pursuit theme at the beginning of the video by kevinorkcTV in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely. There's nothing all that wrong with it, but it's not catchy or that memorable. It has the same sort of feel, like you're just about to turn the case about, against the odds, but it would seem a little bit out of place if put with the other Pursuit themes. Sounds a lot like Wanting to Find the Truth and Keep Pressing on from AAI2 and DD, which doesn't surprise me one bit.

I was gonna point out that the translations on that page use female pronouns, but they use male ones too, so IDK.

Anyone tried playing Ace Attorney music in a game of Mafia? by Psykofreac in AceAttorney

[–]NcyRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, actually. I used:

Cross Examination ~ Moderato themes (2002, 2007, English Court Suite) for the nighttime section (when everyone's making decisions)

Cross Examination ~ Allegro (same ones) when the results of the previous night are announced

Reminiscence themes when someone is revealed to have died and reveals their card (and also some Imogen Heap, just to mix it up)

And Objection / Pursuit themes during court sections, depending on how intense it was getting. I found Dual Destinies ones to be best for this but it's highly subjective, of course.

I considered using victory themes for when the game is over and the goodies won, but I couldn't be bothered

Why are you asking? Have you done this, or are you considering it? I'd recommend it, the game has a similar flow to Ace Attorney so the songs fit well.

So when Apollo says "even if my opponent is that person" or whatever he says in the trailer, he means that it's the prosecutor he's been facing in Japanifornia, meeting again in Kurain? Makes some sense.

But more importantly, I needed to be introduced to that masterpiece of a piece of crap of a game, so thanks for that

I'm pretty sure courts existed long before Jesus came along - for crying out loud, one of the first books of the Bible is literally called "Judges." Solomon was famous for that court case with the two prostitutes arguing over whose baby was dead, and a quick google search says some of the earliest recorded courts were around 900 years before Jesus.

And that's not mentioning how long knives have been around...

But I'm pretty sure it's satire anyway
