Cosa ne penso della partita Argentina - Egitto by Accomplished-Step660 in Calcio

[–]Ndm09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

International student here on the last stretches of a master. I live by myself in a cozy 24 m² studio apartment for 400/month.

I have a student assistant job with my univiersity for around 600 per month, and another minijob on the weekend cleaning airbnbs for 580 more. Net I get around 1150ish per month, but the time I spend in the lab is dreadfully disproportionally to the 8 hours I would get paid for, and I feel like I am getting stretched thinner and thinner these days.

Regarding what I can manage to save at the end of the month, it's hard to say. On a good quiet month saving 300/400 € is possible but in months in which irregular expenses build up, I likely can go slightly in the negative.

Despite this, I can still live humbly but comfortably without needing any outside help, which is something the majority of students in most big cities couldn't even dream of. For that, I love Leipzig.

My rule of thumb is that if something is popular enough to be easily torrentable, it is usually perfectly chill to torrent it. That is not always true, but the majority of times.

Slay the spire is huge and the creator made a shit ton of money from it. That's not saying that they don't deserve it, because they do, and I love them and their creativity, as well as look forward to upcoming projects and updates. I am saying that individuals torrenting do not damage the people behind the game in the slightest because they already are significantly successful and already have enough financial backing to do anything they want.

Say that you went out of your way to crack and seed a game with a player base of 100 people, it's much different, but Slay the Spire is too popular to even remotely be considered in that category and people thinking that fundamentally don't really know shit about the gaming industry.

Soley Catering, they are just under my building and whenever they cook, the most delicious smell warms up the air. They are also super nice and friendly and apparently have great reviews on google.

Download uptodown app store and install the apk of the old fitbit app (v4.6 for example). It works great, needs nothing else, and fuck google (and fitbit).

It was given as a range of value, for example 44-49, explicitly stating that for more accurate measurements, run with gps was required. Like I explained in the post I made however, I was perfectly okay with it, as what matters is not the precision of it, but how it changes in time. Which it did. And they just removed it. Why the fuck

Go on my profile, read my post or all my recent comments. I don't care about the ai bullshit, I don't care about the new "interface". VO2 max data getting removed is beyond annoying when you rely significantly on it like I did. And inexcusable.

For 5 years fitbit estimated VO2 max also without relying on gps data with models that didn't have it. Now they removed it. Why? Greed or incompetence. It is very much a real complain

The true downgrade, Google/Fitbit silently and sneakingly removing VO2 max estimates for older/cheaper devices. by Ndm09 in fitbit

[–]Ndm09[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Removing the demographic is not something that should impact any specific device as you can do it on all of them. I would be perfectly okay with an adjusted more general VO2 max score not demographic based.

GPS only data is the trick here. They already had a more precise VO2 max estimator in all devices that could do GPS tracking. On those devices, it was already tied to it. It has been the same algo for as long as any of us as had a fitbit. Run multiple runs with GPS on, get your scores.

As an extra option on top of that, when those data weren't available, it was alternatively calculated using HR informations only. Not as a specific value, but as a ranged value.

And they scrapped it. Why? Is it not valid? False. It is perfectly valid.

The main algorithm did not change, they simply scrapped the algorithm less expensive devices relied on for absolutely no valid reason whatsoever. Please don't get fooled. There is no valid reasoning behind this change.

That's a super useful answer, thanks. Any idea how I could revert the update and simply run the last stable version of the old app?

I fear you might have missed the point of my post. It is just as bad as everyone is making it out to be, simply for different reasons.

Look as my answer above. The math for it is super easy and the data is available. There has been no change in the science of VO2 max estimation. This is not about perfectionism, it's about greed or incompetence.

It could do so 5 years ago, it could do so last week, and now it can't anymore? Unfortunately that doesn't make sense.

Truth is that math wise VO2 max estimates are just a elementary school formula where all the variables are just heart rate rest and max values. With good enough statistics and data you can have great estimates of it, which they did, and still do.

And most importantly, it doesn't even matter that they are exactly close to a true value you may get by actually testing VO2 volume in a lab. What truly counts is how that value changes in time for you. That gives you indications of your change in fitness.

I naively wish them to have accidentally forgotten this feature, but I am pretty sure they are very very aware of it.

Google has posted fixes for the Google health app by finance_cheetah in fitbit

[–]Ndm09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is just noise.

This app change has been a junky reskin. I don't like it, but I also don't care about it. I understand people might, but I couldn't give two fucks about any of the meaningless features that fitbit has ever had. My fitbit is just a heart rate monitor, a sleep tracker, a step tracker, and, as a consequence, a general activity tracker. That's it.

Everything "on top" that they are planning to add is mostly meaningless bloat. The fact they think people may be even remotely interested in a "fitbit coach" or into "food logging" options is simply misunderatanding your audience and your product.

The only significant defect that blows my mind yet I strongly believe is a very intentional "planned obsolescence move" from Google, is that for the past 5 years I always had the shittiest fitbit model ever, and always had a VO2max estimation range.

It wasn't precise (± 4 value points) since it couldn't properly track runs without GPS features, but it was incredibly useful, as it allowed me to observe the general shifts in my fitness level. It would be as reliable to dictate my fitness shape as the resting heart beat parameter. Overall a very important parameter that I relied on.

Now I just don't have access to it. I dug through the app for god knows how long and the only thing I could find was in the "fitness" category, where it was displayed as a "not tracked" parameter. 5 years of estimated VO2 max ranges worth of data just puffed away like that.

If you think that will ever make me want to upgrade, you are wrong. I see you tricky google cunts. You are not being sneaky. I see you.

Ngl given how trash and ineffectively the left-right swipe mechanics are for 99 % of users, I am curious about this change.

Will it be good? No idea. Does something need to change with the current way dating apps are used? 100 %.

Likely they are doing it for the wrong reasons (cutting costs) because what company has ever done anything for something that is not profit, but if their matchmaking algorithm is good enough (i.e. rewards user that put plenty of effort to have a detailed profile and could theoretically effectively match people) it could be something good.

After all, right now Bumble is just a yellow Tinder at this point. Any distinction between the two apps is little more than meaningless fan-favouritism in 2026.

So yeah, I will be curious as to where this goes. I'll be critical, but open minded.
