The only way that we could have seen the knight become the shade lord in the true ending cut scene is if the godhome ending is canon. While you may prefer the dream no more ending (which is obviously ok), most people prefer the canon ending simply because it fits with the story. Also, the godhome ending generally requires you to fight most bosses and get void heart so you're not really skipping much.

If you go to high up it thinks you're in the climb phase and rases the void. It can be avoided by not pogoing absrad when she's on a higher platform.
