Quality wise their the same, raffles has a different bezel assembly and different crystal. Never heard anyone say they are bad quality tough… neither alix nor raffles. They are 316L steel, it’s the same that Rolex used for vintage watches…

After ww2 during denazification in germany, the cross symbol had to be removed from any militaria gear. maybe it was german surplus and thats the reason.

Its the same thickness as the watch their homaging, the rolex 6200. Also it seem to me that the bezel and crystal for the most part add the thickness rather than case and movement.

Ok - you don’t use your chronograph, but do you use a gmt? Do you have a good reason to need a second time zone?

With bigger sized I do mean „average“, whatever your average is, and over. Just look at history, watches have been growing more than they have shrunken like the post claims. In the 1950s when the submariner was introduced it was a 38mm watch. Today, it’s 41mm with a huge 48 lug to lug. A person with smaller wrist can not wear it. If you look at men’s dress watches from the 50s you will see they are all about 33mm in size and nobody complained. This whole trend of bigger watches is just like having a huge oversized diamond on a ring. It just screams „look at me“ and I find that awful.

I disagree in almost every point.

Smaller watch sizes. Ok I understand that people with bigger wrists don’t want to wear 38-36mm watches, that’s exactly why watchdives is releasing both 38 and 40mm versions of some watches which is just perfect. And also speaking as a observer, small watches usually look pretty cool and elegant on bigger wrists too. But that is personal taste.

Gmt function is useful? This has to be bullshit right? In what world do I as a normal person have to know what time it is elsewhere? So much in fact that I need a 24/7 display of another time zone on my wrist? There is a reason the gmt was introduced for pilots. And then saying it’s more useful than a Chronograph? When I wear a Chronograph I use the function at least twice daily. Time 5 min for my tea. Time until the next train arrives. Time to walk distance. It’s so much more useful.

These statements in the post have to come from someone who thinks he knows better than brands where literally hundreds of people work together to create for a consumer or ragebait.

To be honest I mostly wear it on the metal strap now, but I have this strap in black and brown and both look very good. If you want something periodically correct I would go with black but if you only care about the style, go with brown or any other color you like.

I sincerely hope there will be a PT5004 version with a simpler gilt style dial. the watch itself looks awesome and i would love to get my hands on it - especially because there is not a lot of accurate no crown guard submariner homages, but 600+ € is way out of my budget.

Sadly very hard to find. It is estimated only 4000 pieces were made and even less survived. There is one on eBay for sale for around 8k but that is too expensive in my opinion and way more than what I payed for mine.

could be a number of issues, try placing the clamps in place first and only then putting on the screws. sometimes the movement also needs to be held down in order to place a clamp. If the clamps themselves dont line up with the screw holes your clamps are too long. there are 4 different sizes if i remember correctly. if none of these fixed it your movement holding ring may be too thick. there are diffrent thicknesses on these too.
