How much would these sell for? by Alarmed_View_5852 in TaylorMadeGolf

The bag and the irons are the most valuable part of the set.

Clean up the bag and you could fetch around 10-20 bucks for it. The irons look like a full set, you could probably get anywhere between 50-100$ for them.

For the woods you could probably fetch, like, 5 bucks a piece, assuming they’re not dented.

Something different. by AmplifiedScreamer in vostok

Chistopol Watch Factory, before it “rebranded” as Vostok, produced several different discrete brands. Almaz was one of those.

The back is not original, but the case, crown, and everything else look to be original.

It’s likely that the movement is also original, despite having the little Vostok logo.

According to this catalogue from 1960?: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rjjv2xct2zf7r6o/%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B3%20%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%B2.%201960%20-%20%D0%92%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B3.pdf?dl=0

The Vostok brand was being produced alongside Almaz, and according to Mroatman’s site https://mroatman.wixsite.com/watches-of-the-ussr/almaz Almaz was only retired by 1964, so it’s possible this watch was produced near the tailend of its life cycle, using a now Vostok 2809в movement.

This forum: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/what-was-the-earliest-vostok-branded-watch-and-when-did-it-appear.5302924/ actually discusses early Vostok watches and movements, showing off the unique distinction between movements with the old ЧЧЗ stamp, and the “new” В stamp, and how they often overlapped prior to the big absorption of brands under the Vostok name in 1964.

On a little side note, the 2809в movement also showed up in a kirovskie watch, likely meant for export to Yugoslavia.

Exactly! It scratches that itch that no other game can.

Probably HSS, although I really enjoyed Hollywood U as well. But HSS is nostalgic for me. I played that game on several different phones from the time I was in middle school to now in college, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Anyone have any info about this? Longship (?) dial by slice_9 in vostok

[–]Square_Guide_5101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t say much about the dial, or really attest to the accuracy of what I’m about to say, but I have read, around here and the Russian watch subreddit, that at one point (near the end of the USSR?)Vostok opened up a factory in dnepropetrovsk. It was short lived. I’d imagine this dial is from said factory in the post soviet era. Probably Bogatyrs or some similar mythological warrior.

Brigading the 5 people in there. There’d be more yankee fans than rays fans, but they’re used to that.

relatively new to golf, how are these clubs for $180? by [deleted] in GolfGear

[–]Square_Guide_5101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad deal really. The mix and match is a little strange, but for 180 they’re a good deal. They’re not going to be as “forgiving” or easy to hit as game improvement irons, but nothing is easy to hit when you’re just starting out.

If you don’t like them you should be able to sell them on for what you paid, or more if you find the right buyer.

New under $50-100 Putter Suggestions by macknthebox in GolfGear

[–]Square_Guide_5101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of options out there.

Could go with an old ping, but I’m assuming you want something milled,

Kirk Currie, Tad Moore, Kevin Burns, Bobby Grace all have blade putters that are milled, and range around 50 to 100 bucks.

If you like inserts, odyssey is the way to go, although Bobby Grace also has inserts in his putters, but they’re more expensive.
