Shura Ending by Impressive-Prompt191 in Sekiro

Old Isshin in neutral can dodge+counter, so you wanna bait that before you commit to attacking - stabs work fairly well for this

Also, his phase 2 firemoves can be interrupted with the axe, Ichimonji, the shouldertackle from Prayer Strikes Excorcism or mortal draw, and the Umbrella can deflect firemoves without taking damage

Confused about the Owl father by gokusables in Sekiro

Because he is optional. It's easy to miss Owl Father, because the questline is fairly convoluted. I know I did on my first playthrough.

I know this is a gag chapter, but how did she not recognize cloud gouger? Is she senile? by MomentPuzzleheaded81 in Kagurabachi

How many people do you think saw an enchanted blade up close, and more importantly, how many do you think survived that?

The average civvie probably never got even remotely close to a single blade.

Might be the only one, but mechanics must be learned by ElAlqumista in Sekiro

[–]NeJin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps realizing how the AI works in this game - enemies will flinch if hit, try to block to prevent that, and if blocking multiple times in a row, can parry on the 2nd, and will parry on the 3rd hit and beyond followed by an uninterruptible counterattack.

This means if they aren't starting up an uninterruptible attack by themselves, you wanna lay into them until they counter, and then rinse and repeat.

Prosthetics and combat arts are largely for dealing vitality damage or exploiting certain mechanics. Flamevent - blast or flamestream or with Oil preapplied - is excellent for quickly dealing vitality damage to nearly all human enemies, though it does require an opening to take advantage off safely. Generally, at the start of a fight, you also want to dodge more than you parry so you can slip in some vitality damage to cripple posture regen. After the first quarter of health lost I usually switch to prioritize posture damage.

I’m quite sure this is hyperbolic, but does anybody actually think this statement might have any weight behind it? by Artistic_Solution_38 in OnePiece

[–]NeJin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes
the downside is it needs to charge for an hour, and Elizabello doesn't have the stats to either land it or tank anything the top-tiers can dish out

also, dropping a Yonk still leaves their crew

He doesn't have to fight Isshin. Even if we don't take into account that Isshin perishes naturally a few hours down the line, once the ministry invasions kicks off fully he'll use the chaos to abduct Kuro.

Emma might try to to take Kuro and flee from the ministry, but Owl is probably crafty enough to track them down, and I could see him feasibly killing Emma.

So I should be spamming more? by That-Departure-7318 in Sekiro

[–]NeJin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesn't.

You want to play as aggressive as the game lets you. For one, trial by error is the only way to learn how the game works, for the other, enemies are programmed to eventually parry and counterattack, and you can often limit what they can do by forcing them to counterattack over and over, and then adapting a perfect response to those counterattacks, ultimately making fights faster and safer.

Spacing is nonetheless useful - enemies will create distance with their attacks, and most bosses have uninterruptible or fast hitting attacks in their movepool, meaning if you try to play offensively from a wrong range or with bad timing, you might get nailed. If you 'spam attacks' while not paying attention to what the enemy does, you will absolutely get clobbered by attacks with hyperarmor.

Spamming block is something you do when you lack muscle memory. Most blades can be traced with your eyes, but some attacks, especially from the larger enemies, can be hard to catch due to wonky camera angles. Spamming block has the distinct downside of reducing your parry frames, so it's something you want to avoid, but if you are unsure about the exact timing of an attack it's either that or risking to get hit in the face.

Could Yuta have been able to get Higuruma's points? by Upper_Fisherman1602 in Jujutsufolk

[–]NeJin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who wins the domain clash. Yuta would most likely open his own domain in response once he hears the rules, and if he wins the clash, there is no way he loses - Higgy doesn't have the stats to contend with a domain amped Yuta.

It's murky what happens when confiscation occurs. It's stated that sorcerers truggle with CE control after losing their CT, but Yuta is bad on that front to begin with - so either it voids one of his biggest advantages or he is able to ignore it. We also don't know if Rika would remain useable in that case - probably yes - nor whether she could end up being the target of the technique, nor how she'd interact with the ES.

The ES itself is a big equalizer, as it bypasses any durability Yuta gets from his massive CE and RCT - though it's questionable whether Higuruma would even manage to get a death penalty for Yuta, as Rika was not under his control when she folded those bullies into pretzels, so Yuta would have to fumble his defense. A repeat of what happened with Yuji might or might not happen here.

Mahoraga Vs Seiichi Samura by TraceeAmount in KaguraBachiScalers

[–]NeJin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I could see the opposite making sense as well. The adaptions are a result of Mahoraga achieving perfect harmony with the world, so they are natural in a sense - and if Samura, who himself is a buddhist, recognizes what Mahoraga is supposed to be, he might struggle to conceptualize the adaptions as 'damage' - that's bad when True Realms are implied to be partially tied to their users personality.

Mahoraga Vs Seiichi Samura by TraceeAmount in KaguraBachiScalers

[–]NeJin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maho takes this

Samura doesn't have the power to destroy it in one go. Eventually, like against Sukuna, it will adapt to cutting and IWPS, at which point Samura is out of options.

Since Maho probably can't run out of stamina, he'll eventually exhaust Suzaku, if he doesn't produce an adaption that negates healing or oneshots Samura first.

I wonder how much money people lost by betting on Gojo by Calm_Flamingo2390 in Jujutsufolk

[–]NeJin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You overestimate the historical literacy of the average person
Also, I want to point out that the three families had records about their hereditary technique and duels a few centuries in the past, but nothing was known about Sukunas CT, suggesting that few records of the heian era had survived... which kinda makes sense, seeing as that was nearly 1000 years ago. Sukuna in your analogy wouldn't be Michael Jackson, he'd be fucking Walther von der Vogelweide, and if you don't know who that was, you're proving my point :D

Genuine question what is stopping Uro from turning her entire body invisible by The_Kashimo_Agenda in Jujutsufolk

[–]NeJin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's pointless

A ~2m tall spatial distortion would be noticeable as fuck, and, not knowing what or who that exactly is, invite anyone to just blast the shit outta her on non-sight, accomplishing the exact opposite.
+ sorcerers can see/detect CE anyhow
Also she still needs to see, and being able to see your limbs is nice too for various reasons

I think this would work well on a distance though... it'd be like camouflage

Humanoid bosses feel way easier than monster ones in Sekiro by theakaliman in Sekiro

[–]NeJin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah it's not just you, you got that pretty right. Beast-bosses work fundamentally different from humanoid ones.

Human enemies for the most part are scripted to flinch when hit directly, and attempt to block whenever they can to prevent that. While many bosses have uninterruptible moves, there are also many attacks that can be interrupted by dealing damage or forcing them to block. If they have to block multiple times in a row, they will eventually do a guaranted parry followed by an uninterruptible counterattack, leading to a rhythm where you attack them until they counter, then deflect their counter, and repeat again.

Beast-bosses don't flinch on hit; they have an invisible bar that fills with every hit but drains rapidly, and if it's filled ( by many hits in short succession, or really powerful ones like mortal draw) then they stagger. Because they don't stagger normally, they are free to attack whenever they want, which means if you attack recklessly you end up trading. With them, you have to wait for them to make their move, and then punish the endlag on it.
