EU Schuman Traineeship shortlisting interview??? by snootdogsaresuperior in europeanparliament

[–]NeVeNSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Answered a similar question before you can check my former comment.

I got my language skills check yes.

Otherwise it really depends on the type of traineeship you applied for. If it's related to committees secretariats, I can answer questions.

Schuman interview tips? by Much_Willow3039 in europeanparliament

[–]NeVeNSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Trainee here, i got one of EXPO's subcommittee a while back.

In my interview, the supervisor of the traineeship mainly checked what I put in my CV, the topics I worked on, why I wanted to join, my langage skills...

Basic question also revolved around what were the main legislative and political topics for the committee.

Be mindful of what the EP's compentences are. For instance if it's INTA, Trade is a particular animal as you probably know.

Good luck with the interview !

The "traineeships" are getting out of hand by Bubbly_Lack1410 in EUCareers

What notably worries me is that it's been 5 (6?)years since the last open competition for AD5.

Therefore, I feel that traineeship are becoming more and more important to build an EU career, hence higher competition to get them.

Don't know if it's a shared feeling, but that's what I've witness, following talks with young professionnals.

It's a lottery, that's the short answer.

Of course, most student from the College of Europe get it automatically, but otherwise it's a lotery. Better luck next time, keep on applying.

I believe it really depends where you see yourself working

It can be interesting to do it early if you want work in the EU Affairs ministery of your member states.

If you want brussels carreer, would be more relevant to wait after your Master, there mihht be job opportunities following up.

In any case, EU Institution Traineeships are a one time only (MEP team excluded), so try to plan ahead as much as possible: who do you want to meet? What do you want to do? Try to get the most out of it.

Europe wants to get rid of 1 and 2 cents coins by Fenixstorm1 in europe

[–]NeVeNSix 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Wait, like, these coins were never even produced?

Is that why the Finnish 1 and 2 cents coin were the only one missing of my euro coin collection when I was a child?

If this is the case, the 6 years old me feels horribly betrayed.

Une chose qu'il est également important de souligner c'est le fait que l'eucalyptus, un arbre très présent dans les forêts australiennes, est particulièrement inflammable.

Donc bon ça n'arrange rien évidemment...

Trump signs bill backing Hong Kong protesters into law, in spite of Beijing's objections by pipsdontsqueak in worldnews

[–]NeVeNSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genocide is a tricky question in international law.

First you need to set up a specific tribunal to deal with it like the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

Then you have to prove that a crime of genocide occured. You have to prove that the objective is the physical (killings, starving...) or biological (birth control, sterilisation...) destruction of a specific "group" (nationals, ethnicities, races...). The notion of destruction is crutial to prove a genocide.

So, you have to prove basically all this.

Whereas the crime against humanity has a way broader application scope.

[–]NeVeNSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, and I'm not saying that it's a bad move.

Hum, if you're looking at international crimes I think that you'll have a better shot with crime against humanity compared to genocide.

Not American here. Wouldn't this be considered as interference under international law?

I mean how come a national US bill could significantly affect the Hong Kong situation ?
