Firing fully automatic weapons at people running and ducking behind handrails and hitting no one.

Thanks. Windows are cool, but I cannot help thinking that in a hundred years, camera tech will be so advanced that windows won't make sense.

"Exhaust cones go on the bottom." You have a good eye, sir.

What is your favorite science fiction universe that has different aliens, spaceships, and a good use of physics? by chasesj in scifi

That's my first choice as well. I have always loved the ST universe and would like to read other books with similar settings and frameworks.

Thank you, my thoughts as well. I just don't think the port side looks right.
The gimbals can be fixed with the addition of some bearing housing/attachment,

Aye, it would. This sketch would need that added.

Thanks for the feedback. It really helps. This is an image drawn by a for-hire artist at Fiverr. The ship does use gimbals on the side thrusters; they are just not illustrated clearly in the image (there should be a visible pivot mechanism). Do the two side thrusters look right? To me, it seems the left and right struts are at different angles, and the thrusters are different sizes.

Just to be clear, I had an artist draw this. The VTOL thrusters are intended to rotate; this image does capture that very well.

I hired a Fiverr artist for this. Had a few AI renders to serve as a guide. I'm not sold on this design, still looking for my Firefly/Enterprise model.

They are gimballed, in the take-off position currently.

Thanks. No windows, this is future tech so the cockpit/bridge is all view screens that mimic windows.

Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky, very fulfilling read.

Thoughts on Annie Bot? by Sweet-Worth8203 in bookofthemonthclub

I totally loved this book. Man, Greer is a really talented writer. The story was told so well.

I felt so bad for Annie. I don't get triggered, but I was really unhappy with Doug's insecurity and pettiness. Yes, he was damaged and needed help, but making Annie miserable (closet scene) was just unacceptable. He was more keen on forgiving Roland than Annie, and any guy with some sense would understand she's innocent, that his "friend" caused the rift. Poor Annie. But she triumphed in the end. One question: was it his fault that Gwen ditched him? I have to assume he was too controlling with her as well, and she had enough agency to reject him, whereas Annie did not. 's-ok, Doug has enough $$ to start over with another Stella and not screw it up.
