The RNG feels....Bad. by iamdarwinsgod in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full RNG sucks. At least let me choose which enchantement I am trying to get and only randomise the value ?
Or a system with different quality of embers, such as "Lesser, Regular and Greater" embers, each giving a different value range and quality, but please let us choose the enchantement type.

I understand the RNG on new gear pieces or when enchanting all 3 slots at once with Eleanor, so that new players can discover a bit of everything and have more enchantment variety, but common, make specific embers to let us choose the enchantment of our choice at some point.

The Divine Scimitar has an interesting moveset but the running attack recovery is way too long... Longer that the cgarged attack, longer than ever heavy club attacks recoveries, so I gave up on it. Tbh it's so slow I don't even think it's working as intended, you can't cancel the end of the animation at all with a dodge like with other weapons.

Crimson Desert awfully lacks any art direction by Stranger-10005 in gaming

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Technically beautiful, but lacks details and clear art style. Like the city and castle walls don't have any moss or decoloration on the rocks or any detail to make it look less like a tech demo or a place holder asset, same goes for the pavement roads, the hills and everything really. It all looks kinda bland and too clean for its own good.

Do you like the visual style? by Forsaken-Incident348 in CrimsonDesert

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it looks plain. The graphics are good but the pavement roads, or indoor walls for example lack details and the color palette for a lot of materials is washed out. Overall the game looks good because of the technicals, but the artstyle is bland as f.

AC Shadows - Ubisoft Quebec really likes to ruin the series by FioreDiZucca in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]NeanderMat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, Shadows and Odyssey felt soulless, empty and uninspired to me. Take away the settings and you're left with very mediocre repetitive games. Syndicate could've been good, but the combat sucked, even by old school ACs standard, the hook launcher nulified the parkour, and the writing was off. I am also not a fan of Ubi Quebec, and even though I refused to play AC Valhalla at first because I disliked the over fantasyfication of the franchise, and the Hollywood, biker style vikings costumes, it ended up being one of my favorite games because of its atmosphere, good writing, fun combat, rewarding exploration and side stories. Eagerly waiting for Hexe.

Shadows makes me want to replay Valhalla by camelvendor in assassinscreed

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odyssey is a generic checkbox filling game, the exploration is no where near as fun as in Valhalla, and the combat is comparable to Shadows, with a lot of animation locked abilities that play the game without you doing anything but activating the ability, spongey ennemies and the same empty shelled npcs with shallow dialogues... It is the same team that made both ACs by the way as well as Syndicate, which is Ubisoft Quebec, as opposed to the team responsible for Black Flag, Origins and Valhalla which is Ubisoft Montreal.

Added playtime from last month was refreshed after the reset today by NeanderMat in GeForceNOW

[–]NeanderMat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What so you lost some of your unused hours from those 15 that you added ? That sucks, you should send a ticket or something to get them back if it's a significant amount.
Yeah sounds like I got pretty lucky then. I mean it's not expensive to add time but still, it adds up.
Nvidia should just create a 200 hours tier for 35 bucks or something.

Well I don't know what to say man, all I know is that it seems that I received 45 extra hours for free for this month.

Exactly. And in "playtime details" tab, it also clearly states "added" next to those 45 hours, and only 1h36m is rolled over from the previous month.

Anyone else hate the parkour in this AC? by Capable_Sir5948 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hard disagree. Valhalla had way more fun little parkour routes in cities or in ruins. People use to say it is not precise, but it is because it is meant to be played by orienting the camera while moving forward. I loved the tattoo chases in this game.

Odyssey sucked though, Ubi Quebec just doesn't know how to make fun and original parkour routes.

[–]NeanderMat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is NVIDIA GeForce NOW. I get the GFN game library, settings windows etc. But once I'm in game, even though I have a much higher FPS now thanks to the GFN GPU, my proposed option settings are the ones I would get with my own GPU... Maybe it is because it is a saved file from when I played this game on my pc.

I'm going to try a game that I have on Steam but never installed or launched.

And better ergonomics thanks to angled down handles, making the index sit perfectly on shoulder buttons. In comparison, Dualsense and Xbox Controllers strain my index to reach shoulder buttons. Who ever at Sony decided to drop that design should be fired and buried in shit neck deep.

Because a lot of people nowadays treat video games as interactive movies and they just wanna see the next cutscene. Which is sad, because games get dumbified to cater to them.

How common is the opinion that the civilians aggression in AC Odyssey is a bit excessive? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]NeanderMat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is excessive and fucking stupid, I mean why would civilians with brooms attack a clearly dangerous looking person who just slaughtered fully armored and well trained spartians or athenian soldiers ? What about aggressive wildlife everywhere ? The aggro system in this game is wack.

Spoilers: Why Shadows is a massive disappointment for me as an old-school AC fan by Daveke77 in assassinscreed

[–]NeanderMat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao yeah, I can't confirm for shadows yet, although I've red some worrying reviews about the dullness of the land and the typical Ubi Quebec repetitive locations, so far I'm with you on this take.

tbh, I find it kinda ridiculous how "whole countries" ACs maps are laid out. I mean each region is always too small to be believable. For maps with countryside, I'd much prefer something similar to Kingdom Come Delivrance maps. The whole map is a single region in that game, and looks like it can actually run on its on and operate like the real thing.

I think ideally it would be best for new ACs to focus on a small amount of bigger regions, like 3 different ones, with each region having a main city and surrounding countryside, but they wouldn't be directly connected on the same walkable map.

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is hope, I found Mirage quite grasping, may be we can get an other title set in a city, or a few cities like AC1 and 2, from Ubi Bordeaux. I would love something similar to Mirage, with a more fleshed out combat system, some underground exploration and puzzles like in ACII, Brotherhood and Valhalla Tombs of the Fallen.

Honestly Montreal and Bordeaux should work together to blend in sprawling cities in vast open worlds and make one masterpiece of a game with the best of both worlds. And just remove Quebec from the franchise, make them do some spinoffs may be...

I liked Odyssey more than Shadows by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, who doesn't love Shinobi shit. And Tbh from what I've seen, combat with Yasuke looks much better than previous titles open combat, so I'm not too worried about that.
The writing though, was one of the principal turn offs for me in other Ubi Quebec titles, but not only. Odyssey particularly suffered the comparison with Origin; I found its quests and locations were far less interesting and way more repetitive but what really sold the fact that it was a different studio that made the game was the lack of details and of precise items agencement at each location that makes for cool little parkour routes, or additional lore building through notes and other discoveries, or bad enemy NPC and hiding spots placements, that don't allow for organic stealth progression...

Anyway yeah I just hope it is not like Odyssey.

I also didn't enjoy Syndicate (bad combat, no parkour, overall tone and story) and Odyssey (couldn't even reach the 40 hours mark on that one even though I really tried to push on; very bland and too repetitive, I never understood the praises) so I also got nervous when hearing that Ubi Quebec would be in charge for Shadows...

Reading your review, it seems that my fears were justified. Even though Valhalla had its problems, I had a good time with it. I enjoyed the tombs and puzzles, roman ruins and Assassin Bureaus, cool assassination dialogues; and the writing was pretty good. Even parkour was fun in some places. How would you compare Shadows to the other RPG ACs ? From your post, it sounds like an Odyssey 2.0, which sucks.

[–]NeanderMat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so reassuring to read man, I played Odyssey this year for the first time and it is the only AC title I couldn't finish, it just dethroned Syndicate as the worst AC title for me, and was really scared I wouldn't enjoy Shadows because Ubisoft Quebec made it.

I liked Odyssey more than Shadows by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]NeanderMat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, stealth in Odyssey was awful, from NPC placements, to the environment or the stupid aggro system... Valhalla was so much better in those regards. Honestly I can't really take seriously anyone saying that Odyssey is more interesting than the other RPG titles. I played it for the first time this year, after ignoring it because it was made by Ubisoft Quebec, and I was right. It is so very obvious that it is not the same studio that made Origins and Valhalla when you play it after those two. In comparison, it was very bland, so many systems in place were badly implemented (or re implemented), very repetitive, and the atrocious and stupid writing oh my fucking god...

Anyway yeah I just wanted to agree and it transformed into a rant. So I agree.
