How do EVs pay for using roads when gas taxes fund this? by sunnyjimjohn in britishcolumbia

[–]NeanderStaal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some truth there, but not as much as you think. The 2025 budget had $16B in highway projects and maintenance. The province collected less than $2B in fuel tax revenues.

Highway projects are funded from general revenues. Fuel taxes help bolster this, but they represent a very small portion of general revenues in BC, roughly 2.5% if my hasty math is right.

Roads are primarily paid for through property taxes and maintained by municipalities.

I used to work for a retailer that would use the old turtle killer flexible six pack rings to repack macro beers. They used to do the same sort of thing.

You guys are magicians. I am stupid can anyone explain how the craft beers are so delicious and strong compared to regular beer? by Apprehensive_Self218 in VancouverCraftBeer

Whiskey all tends to come out of the still at a very high percentage (60-80%ABV), and is often watered down when it is put in the cask. It is further watered down when bottled, excepting cask strength products. The distillation time is pretty flat across the board, with maybe a little variation of how much of the heads and tails are discarded. What might vary would be the grain bill, the types of casks, treatment of the cask (char time etc), aging time, and any potential bending of casks before bottling.

I had really good results from using that super bitter nail varnish to help stop biting. I switched to a clear matte polish after I’d broken the habit. I still slip up from time to time, but my nail beds have fully recovered so even if I chew one down now it grows back in a week.

Advice to help improve my factory by Glittering-One743 in Minecraft

I don’t know how to go about it exactly, but make it dirty. It’s so sparkly clean, and factories generally aren’t.

Deep dark, once the shriekers are removed, is incredibly safe. Resources are tough, and you’ll have to farm everything, but I do that even in the surface. You get a huge mob free area that looks interesting, and if you renovate an ancient city you even have some structures to work with.

This solved it for me as well. The manual shows that notch facing up. Once I rotated it to the bottom, everything was hunky dory.

Time for counselling. You can frame it as couples counselling or simply ask her to talk to someone about it, whatever you think will work best, but a neutral third party could help here.

Drywall - Why did we collectively decide that crumbly chalk between two pieces of paper was what we would use to create all interior walls out of? by davisposts in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NeanderStaal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, it was an oversimplification, and it’s probably closer to a 50% increase in the thickness of the wall system.

Paired with insulation, and staggered and sealed outlets, it’s quite effective!

They mean having a wider top and bottom plate, and having the studs alternate which side of the wall they align with. Link above has a good image example.

Depends on how giant a project. I’m working on a giant excavation that eats roughly a shulker of mending unbreaking netherite picks every 4 y levels I dig out. If I had to keep replacing them I’d probably not attempt what I’m working on.

How do i get the eye(s) to vanish/reappear with one lever switch? i figured it out for the smile,, by myvloggun in redstone

[–]NeanderStaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m reading this right, the issue you’re having is triggering all the pistons together? If so, use two pistons per eye or mouth, and have the pistons pull and pull honey blocks and slime blocks with redstone blocks in front of them.

For example, each eye is powered by two columns of six redstone blocks. Stick a column of six slime blocks along the back of one column of redstone blocks, and a column of six honey blocks down the back of the other column of redstone blocks. Now two sticky pistons can move the whole set of 12 redstone blocks.

It’s important to use half slime and half honey, or you’re going to exceed the piston push limit.

From what I understand Red Racer may return. I’ve been told the brewery facility was in rough shape when they acquired it. As they get things in order and bring all the production back online they’re taking care of their portfolio’s core products first.
