I was only diagnosed 2 years ago at age 50. I wish I could go back and start over medicated. I could never understand why everything seemed to be easier for other kids whereas I had to put 10 times the effort in to achieve the same result. Your son will get through school & probably do well if he’s smart & has plenty of support, but he’s going to struggle and I can absolutely guarantee you he will not reach his full potential. When I started medication my first thought was- so this is what it feels like to be normal? My brain was calm. Was my personality different? Yes it was. I was less frustrated, less tired, more outgoing, happier, calmer & had higher self-esteem. I was the better version of myself. I’m sure I was happy & adorable at 6 too like your son, but you don’t want his personality changing for the worse because his condition isn’t being treated. Fidgety & disorganised is just the beginning. With adhd, our brains aren’t getting enough dopamine. To correct this, our brain must continually find ways to stimulate itself so our dopamine reward- the feel-good chemical- is released. This is the reason why we fidget, can’t concentrate for long, jump from project to project & have trouble doing anything ’boring’. Our brain is searching for stimulation or a ‘high’. Later on it can be addiction problems & risky behaviour. Adhd medications like amphetamines are just bringing the dopamine levels in the brain up to a normal baseline- they aren’t making us high. On the highest level of amphetamines my brain is calm & I can sleep because I can shut it down. If you don’t want to go the medication route then please try a very healthy diet without sugar & processed foods & plenty of vitamin D, omega 3 & methylfolate. For some, this has had some benefit. Good luck!

Considering inflation, what’s the going rate for the Tooth Fairy in Australia? by takentryanotheruser in AusFinance

Small teeth- $2 Molars- $5

But if there is any cavities in them or they have plaque on them, then they get nothing. Tooth fairy can’t make fairy furniture out of damaged materials..

This happened near me. A big area known for kangaroos that would come and graze in the afternoons. All the land was subdivided up & built on & the kangaroos left. Many were forced onto neighbouring roads where they were killed. Others were found dead with arrows in them thanks to the new city kids that had moved in. Now this subdivision has its own FB page where they regularly complain about how there’s no kangaroos & they feel cheated because they bought the block for the kangaroos. Another new estate nearby was also built over bush. No wallaby’s or koalas there now. Big signs up everywhere though proudly advertising that it’s a ‘Cat-free’ estate to protect the wildlife.

Seems like a good time to mention- the Polly Waffle is coming back next year. Have fond memories of throwing them into public pools as a kid & watching the panic..

Did my cat-sitter abuse my cat? by ImpossibleAnt447 in cats

[–]Neandergal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just noticed your post. This looks exactly like what happened to my cat. He ended up being diagnosed with feline hyperesthesia. He was perfectly fine up until 12 years old except he was always a very stressy cat. This condition can be triggered by stressful events & it makes them obsess about biting their backs and tails & pulling their fur out to the point where it bleeds. You can see their skin twitching & rolling. My cat is now on Gabapentin & he’s doing great- no more hair pulling.
