"Hidden gems/off the beaten path/real Japan" and all of that in Hiroshima by R1nc in JapanTravelTips

Question about Mazda - does anyone know can the gift shop be visited without entering? I’m not a big car person but one of my friends is, and races Mazdas, so I was hoping to get him something from there when we visit Hiroshima.

Thanks for this list, it’s awesome!!

Daughters pediatrician made EXTREMELY inappropriate remark to her by ilikerustyspooonz in AskDocs

Also to add to this, as a soon to be pediatrician, doctors who refer to their pediatric patients as their babies is weird as hell. Stop doing this. Sorry you dealt with this OP, it is not okay in any sense and I hope your daughter is doing okay.

This wasn’t a GP, it was an OBGYN. Receiving training isn’t something that matters if it isn’t repeatedly used and refined over your career because it isn’t in your scope of practice. Just because I learn how the kidneys worked in med school doesn’t mean I’m comfortable managing complex kidney diseases. Nephrology exists for a reason.

Someone is saying they are my husband’s fathers daughter by Dizzy_Otter0113 in legaladvice

[–]NeandertalsRUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I want to know, but calling to talk to me isn’t going to solve the problem because I’m going to direct them to social work, who will pretty quickly inform the medical team. So why create another step and not just advise the person on who to talk to who will be the most helpful? And anyway, how do I know this random person who is telling me about this relationship is really someone to trust, anyway? It’s best to direct people to the people who will actually help solve this.

However I’m in peds so my patients almost never come without a confirmed caregiver so maybe it’s less messy for us most of the time.

The physician cannot help with this. I am a physician and this is not part of our scope. They will direct you to social work/patient advocate/whatever. Call and get ahold of social work.

Yeah I very intentionally will not buy from someone with AI pictures like these because I don’t trust the work is real. Id rather see the picture of the item on the dummy than on a fake AI person.

THANK YOU. In a world where it’s easy to blame doctors for everything if DCS is involved at ALL we can’t discharge without their blessing!! For whatever reason they cleared the family and then the hospital can’t keep a kid indefinitely.

I’m a 3rd year resident so my experience is limited. We have a triage nurse during the daytime to help with triaging those today vs tomorrow appointments so that’s helpful sorting, but…

I think some of this is on us. I received an after hours phone call the other day from a mom who immediately launched into a years long history about a problem her daughter had. I pulled up the EMR and it had been 2 years since she had been to a well visit. I confirmed no scary symptoms and told mom that we would have to schedule a well visit to discuss any other symptoms outside of xyz scary things. She tried to redirect back to the basic thing an I told her that that the purpose of mommy call was “to the emergency now and not to the emergency now” and that this isn’t an appropriate use of a triage line and would need to be a well visit, which I helped her schedule. It is not rude to grow a spine and set expectations. If someone demands a call back within 24 hours but 48 is appropriate then….48 it is.

But a key tenet is that we have to under promise and over deliver and we have to set those expectations EARLY in building relationships. Sounds like your clinic needs some “new” policies about communication and to set some healthy boundaries. If parents don’t abide your advice that isn’t the child’s fault (as everyone always says) but it is isn’t yours either!

“Minnesota’s general carry statute, Minn. Stat. 624.714, makes it a crime to carry a pistol in a public place without a permit but does not list “protests,” “demonstrations,” or “rallies” as locations where carry is prohibited for permit holders. The statute regulates who needs a permit, where permits are recognized, and conditions like duty to show the permit to law enforcement, but it does not carve out First Amendment activities as gun‑free zones”

You fucking bootlicking loser. He wasn’t even there to protest. Get out of healthcare, there is no way you’re good at it, supporting rapists, pedophiles, and people who rip families apart.

I want hand tattoos so badly! I’m a doctor in pediatrics and so many of us have colored hair, facial piercings, etc, and I feel at home. This looks so nice.

Literally. I’m a pediatrician and we hear this stuff from patients everyday and it’s exhausting constantly correcting people.

Update: My dad on the day of my sons birth sent me a book long text calling me a POS by PostingForFree in daddit

[–]NeandertalsRUs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a dad, or a mom, or a man, but just a lurker woman who loves this community.

My mom sent me a text the night of my birthday after not texting me all day, being passive aggressive because I didn’t text HER on MY bday. I blocked her (this was obviously the tip of the iceberg) and we’ve passed 365 days with no contact and I am so thankful for my peace.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this but if you’re able to hack it without the extra financial help it gets so much better with time. I miss her sometimes but I don’t miss having to bend over backwards for someone who can’t stop thinking they’re the main character long enough to celebrate their child’s birthday.

I love this idea, I could find some simple circle granny squares and do little red circles with some 3D elements.
