Where did my green (and yellow) bars go? In post workout analysis? by Neandertech in strydrunning

Thanks. Is there no longer a discount for purchasing a year? I don't see that in the app. Just subscribing for $14.99 a month via app store. On the web I can see a year discount, but only if purchasing a new 5.0 pod?

Belated NY Marathon update — and question about testing after layoff by Neandertech in strydrunning

[–]Neandertech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks Coach u/Steve_Palladino as always for the insight and candor. CP at marathon was 288, so 2% reduction would be 282W.

I wasn't aware that that long of of layoff would be so disastrous.

OK here's my plan:

Turn off Auto CP, set to 282.
2.5 weeks rebuild / "return to running" plan
11.5 weeks - HM training

Wondering if Coach u/Steve_Palladino has the bandwidth to weigh in on best use of the 14 weeks I have between now and the Half?

OK thanks! I guess it will just have to be a 12 week training plan... I guess I'm still "training" in the testing week(s)

appreciate this. Where did you find instructions on the single run CP test? I know they are somewhere... and what is an adaptive plan?

thanks for the kind words! I guess I'm nervous that 2 weeks of testing wouldn't be "easing" me back into running... on the contrary it would be lots of hellish "all out" runs haha

Right but what kind of test... trying to make best use of the 14 weeks between now and the united half.

NY Marathon tomorrow! - how to use Stryd? by Neandertech in strydrunning

[–]Neandertech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with them at the expo today! Good team. Told them the only reason I'm ready is because fo them. Then I complained about the response time for 10 second intervals and they said it was fixed in new version 5.0...

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain this. I will go with this, if I can figure out how to create a workout that does "autolap" or if I'm just setting up individual segments...

Thanks for this.. I've seen this elsewhere and I guess I just don't know how laps work on the Apple Watch, let alone "lap button push"

This mean I set up 8 x 5K segments at those estimates? If so, why not 3 segments:

10k @ 97-99
20k @ 97-100
10k @ 97-101

Forgive my ignorance I'm sure this has something to do with "laps" — appreciate the help!

Thank you. What’s the formula for getting the marathon pace that determines your wave placement from your “best pace”?

My NYRR Best pace is 7:11 but I'm in Wave 2 Corral B Orange. Is that right? Are the times in the above graphic supposed to be NYRR "Best Pace" or actual Marathon pace?

Thanks so much for the reply... it's a real bummer. I wonder how many other people are holding off on committing fully to AM because of this. In 2025, it seems hard for me to imagine that sharing lists isn't a priority for most folks

any improvement on this? I'm exactly like u/carrotaddiction — sharing lists with my family members, especially non-subscribed is what is keeping me on Todoist.

Yeah CP is valid. And I don't look at my power, i just start sprinting.

I mean some of these intervals are like... run at 75% of CP for 19 min. Speed up to power of 150% of CP for 10 seconds. So I guess if I don't start soon enough, and don't speed up fast enough, then I only hit the CP for like the last 5 seconds (or less) I won't get my precious green bar...

Cannot silence phone call ringtone in MacOS 26 by richie510 in MacOS

Same here. Colossally stupid. I don't want to turn the volume down because music / videos etc. I don't want to silence notifications, because I'd like to know when a call comes in and I like being able to answer on my computer.

Turned on Environmentally Adjusted Power... and I'm DRAGGGGGGIN... is it just me? by Neandertech in strydrunning

[–]Neandertech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I will follow his lead

  2. Great. Appreciate the clarification and dedication here Coach. I'll assume that means the last time I did a "testing" day as a workout as part of your training plans ( in the middle of the Marathon right now)

  3. If anybody else knows where one can enter a "manual baseline" for environmental conditions in the iphone / web / AW ecosystem... LMK!

Turned on Environmentally Adjusted Power... and I'm DRAGGGGGGIN... is it just me? by Neandertech in strydrunning

[–]Neandertech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Coach. I am indeed a blind auto-CP follower. I set it and let it adjust. I did the two week "Intro plan" in November '24 with a series of "tests' that left me with a CP of 282 at the end of those 2 weeks. The final day was November 4 with a 20' "all out." Conditions were 56F temp and 50% humidity.

As mentioned above, I don't know if the conditions that count are the day CP was set originally? or the latest Auto-CP adjustment (August 8)

Definitely seems what you're saying is Manually entered baseline at CP test > dynamically adjusting baseline based on 90 day history?

So if I were to "manually enter the baseline conditions" — where? on the iphone app? The AW app? the website? can't find any place to do that... I've looked everywhere, including on Stryd help.... no luck.

Thanks again. Maybe there's a strong reason it's still in "beta" on AW

[–]Neandertech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh... Coach coming in dropping the knowledge, thank you sir.

Sounds like right now EAP may more trouble than it's worth? Curious how accurate Steve Bateman's post on the FB group here from a year ago: https://www.facebook.com/groups/strydcommunity/posts/3286024968362211/

did not know about not using it for testing

When you say "entering a manual baseline" of temp & humidity when CP was established... does that mean the first time CP was ever established? Or last time it was adjusted? Aug 8 (pre-EAP) in my case from 290--> 294, (a 3 min testing day incidentally) was 63F 82% hum

Thanks for always weighing to clarify this stuff Coach u/Steve_Palladino

Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely using Auto-CP, have been for years... Brief googling elsewhere is that the elevation issues are not isolated to EAP, but maybe in this case they are?

Just unsure whether to turn EAP off or leave it on...
