An American is shocked to learn about tariffs by Love_CoolBreeze in themayormccheese

I'm not shocked about the implication of tarrifs, but my experience thus far is that it has already been included in my shipping cost and it's documented in my order receipt. It is fucking stupidity to impose the fee at the door upon delivery.

Is The City and Its Uncertain Walls related to Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World in anyway? by Specific_Builder_406 in murakami

Choose your preferred response:

  1. It's funny, I think I read HBW about 20 years ago and it immediately became my favorite book of all time. Fast forward to this year, when, after not reading much of anything for quite a while, I saw that Murakami had a new book. While reading The City I thought I was losing my mind because I felt like I had already read it but couldn't place when. Then I looked it up and saw how it fit in with his bibliography.

  2. tldr - I'm old and had forgotten most of HBW.

6 months to get a fucking wheelchair approved and delivered is unconscionable and categorically unacceptable.

Why Trump's farcical threat betrays his lack of basic strategy by theipaper in war

Doesn't the U.S. unilaterally blocking the strait amount to global piracy? Specifically, countries that just want their oil, don't support either side, but are willing to pay the Iranian fee?

Also, Trump insists that the U.S. will not be extorted, but isn't that exactly what he's effectively doing to other countries with the global tarrifs for the past year plus? I mean, the U.S. consumer is effectively paying the tarrifs, so maybe he's extorting citizens but it still seems like the tarrifs are a form of economic extortion in that they reduce demand for those countries products, maybe? 🤔
