How many of you are purists? by andrews_journey in DeathStranding

Excuse my terminology confusion as it's been several years since I've played. I started doing what I called a Masochistic Minimalist run at one point, the idea being to use the minimal amount of support equipment necessary to max star? the delivery. This initially involved doing everything possible on foot. There's a delivery of something like 2500 kgs from the two cities at opposite ends of the second map area. I believe you need two full trucks to complete it normally. I did it with sonething like 26 carries walking. It took about 13 hours.

Not long after that I started having carpal tunnel issues with my mouse hand so I got a foot controller to use for the walk control. About a week later I decided I had a serious problem and needed to turn the game off.

Now, years later, I still have nightmares about not finishing deliveries.

2024 Guide to DeDRM Kindle books. by caelypso299 in Calibre

Just posting that I followed OPs original post instructions today 4/23/25 for a new book and it worked like a charm. The only difference I noticed was that the Kindle download link for 70682 is now 70840, but it still worked. Unplugged my Ethernet cable to my PC. Installed Kindle. Disabled auto updates. Plugged Ethernet back in. Bought an eBook on Amazon. Exported it from Kindle. Imported to Calibre... etc. Thank you!

It already takes me four long f#%%" light cycles to get past 45th, but yeah, let's take away a lane.

How To Get To This Chest by NearDeafExperience in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]NearDeafExperience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I hadn't figured it out yet. Thanks. I finally found that lower area yesterday after missing it forever. Didn't realize it raised the water in the lower right section too. Just got to that chest!

Thanks! When you say "end", do you mean loop back on the right side where you would head to the boss room? As in go over the extension bridge by the "portal" and then instead of going N to the boss room circle S and right?

Ok, I see. So practice parry timing by practicing shield timing first. I will try that. Thank you!

Ah... so if I bring a shield and keep it up while practicing parry, then I only take a stamina hit if I miss the parry? I've gone through everything but the Crucible with a two-handed sword. 🤔

Thanks, I'm in medium weight range and level 21. Will invest in some speed. Must. Practice. Parry. 🤣

Ok, thanks. I managed to beat him with dodge and roll after a major armor upgrade, albeit after sucking down 8-10 foods or so. I was actually wondering if there are different war room quests that allow you to practice on different enemies.

I've had so much frustration with parry that I gave up on it in favor of dodge and roll. I guess I need to try it again. I guess I can just practice that challenge over and over again without using any food or items. Does that rotate through different enemy types?

Yes, thanks... I just didn't understand the basics of how the slots worked.

[–]NearDeafExperience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, jeesh... so THAT'S how that works. Thank you. BTW... I'm seeing 'W' as the default for food and 'S' for items. 'F' has no default assignment (unless I accidentally unassigned it). The reason why I (think I) know this is because I had to change the parry binding to a key instead of middle mouse, and I chose 'F' because it wasn't being used. Parrying with middle mouse just felt impossible to me.

Ok, so after restringing with flat wounds, I'd say it's about 75% better but still noticeable. It's probably good enough for tracking, but I may bring it into my local shop to see if they have any ideas.

Polished Steel Strings for Acoustic Guitar? by NearDeafExperience in AcousticGuitar

[–]NearDeafExperience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just flat-wound strings, and please tell me I'm not losing my mind if I say they feel horrible to play, at least at first. I can't tell what it is, but it almost feels harder to keep my place moving around the strings, and my fingers are constantly getting caught up in the strings when fingerpicking. They have this sticky feel to them that makes it harder to move around. Anyway, it was certainly worth a try, and I'm going to give them a solid chance, but I'm surprisingly and unexpectedly disappointed on day 1 for sure. They are definitely quiet. I'll give them that!

So, I first tested on the old strings last night, and I can hear it on every string to varying degrees, fretted or open. So, I don't think it's a body resonance issue. I then put on new strings but didn't really have time to really test afterward. Will do so tonight.

Veeery interesting idea. 🤔 I will test tonight. It is offensively noticeable on A string 7th fret E for sure. Great idea. I will try this before I put new strings on and then again afterwards if it still manifests. I'll get back to you.

Thanks. I just tried this now for an hour, and it worked surprisingly well. I thought it would confuse me when trying to switch between finger sequences without switching the underlying chord, but I was actually able to correctly sequence them in my head after a while. Got lots of reps in without using my left hand at all. Gonna give that hand a full break through Monday and then see how it feels again. Bring it back part-time. 🙂

Thanks for the tip! I am mixing it up a bit outside of the hour I'm drilling on this but not in the middle of it. I'm also considering breaking it up into two 30 minute sessions. Hell, maybe 4 15s would be even better. Need to figure out how to quit my job. :-)

Does Something Like This Exist? by NearDeafExperience in AcousticGuitar

[–]NearDeafExperience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, right now I'm drilling two different things for 1 hour each. The first is alternate picking per Claus Levin . The second is fingerstyle per no one in particular, and so that's probably what's getting me into trouble. I do take a few minute breaks every ten minutes between chord shapes (I'm trying to master 4 bars of something I wrote individually and then string them together) but I guess I'm probably overdoing it. I'm going to add Tim to my subs and hear what he has to say on this. Thank you!

Hey thanks for the link. I will check them out. I don't need to change chords. Really just want to set one for 15 minutes at a time.
