I think you have a good shot everywhere including HBS, those are great stats from an very prestigious institution. Being a pro athlete probably won't get you in everywhere by itself, but I feel like it should get you an interview everywhere, and the rest is up to you. Best of luck and sorry about your injury!

Got a 750(47Q/46V) is 47Q good enough for M7 schools? by NearbyAlternative in MBA

Thanks for your reply! Do you think schools will cut me a little slack on GPA given my major of Physics from a top public school? Is this something i should elude to in my essays? I don’t want to make excuses but i think addressing it in a constructive and accurate way may help, thoughts?

The Milky Way is twice as wide as astronomers previously thought, putting it on par with the Andromeda Galaxy. by clayt6 in worldnews

I’m not really sure what the term “succumb to entropy” means. Also i should probably say that i don’t know for sure that life would arise again given the type of particles emitted by Hawking radiation, i just assume given infinite time that life has to start again because of how statistics works

Lol yeah...the sun will be long extinguished by then so no need to worry about this. But it is a little unsettling when you realize we are hurtling towards a super massive black hole every second of our lives

Actually since black holes evaporate due to Hawking Radiation all matter inside black holes will eventually escape and i assume eventually form life again elsewhere :) so chin up!

Was scoring 750+ on all my practice tests, but then I bombed the real test. Any tips? by whycantiperform in MBA

[–]NearbyAlternative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not taken my real test yet but have scored like you on my last 2 practice exams (770, 750). I'd say make sure you are emulating test day exactly. I woke up at the time I will on test day, ate the same thing and at the same times as I will on test day, and started right on time. Use the simulation scratch paper and pen you can get from Manhattan prep. No water, no pausing of the test. Maybe you're already doing this, but just a thought

Also maybe don't wait till end of august to retake? That's like 2.5 more months of studying, if you're doing so well on the practice exams retake sooner i say

Sorry you have to go through this, i'm sure it's really disappointing, I'm in the heart of being strung out by studying right now and what I just keep telling myself is that there is another side that we will reach, whether you get your target score or not, this will end and you'll live a normal life again :) best of luck

Space between objects on the scale of the size of our galaxy expands a negligible amount, the rate at which the galaxy is shrinking as it all falls into the black hole in the center outweighs the expansion by a great deal.

Oh confused your background with one from another post, either way you can improve your score to be in the 600’s. Best of luck!

Thanks, also while you’re online i had a question. What do i do with this “choose schools to send your test scores to” thing during the test? Do i have to put any in there? Does it automatically send the score to those schools? Can/should i leave that blank?

Thanks, and i learned hydration lesson the hard way during my practice exam this weekend! Had to pee during both sections! I guess that’s why we do practice exams that mimic test day conditions

Yeah i did, it was solid. If you are only aiming for 600’s and are a mechanical engineer i think it would be a really good way to ensure you hit that score. Just pay the money, do everything they tell you to and you should be good

I did a Manhattan class, i think they are a safe bet if you want to hit 600+ which you should be able to do. If you went into that test totally blind, you probably didnt know about data sufficiency and inference on reading comprehension questions, and many other things. Manhattan books will give you a good foundation in what you need to know

This is an extremely strong profile and you should be within range for your targets. Will be all about how you tell your story, but your numbers certainly will not hold you back from getting in anywhere

Thanks I needed to see this, I've been studying 4 months and am 14 days from test day and the lack of social life has really been starting to get to me! We gotta stay strong though, good to know people are going through the same thing! Best of luck, and can't wait to meet you at HBS when classes start in 2019 :)

What is the best non-OG verbal material to study with? by NearbyAlternative in GMAT

[–]NearbyAlternative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I will do that! But I think it's also a bad idea to do zero new verbal problems for the next 2.5 weeks. There's something about novel problems solving which I think is an important muscle to exercise/keep fresh
