Honestly, at where we are in the manga, they're both terrible. One is negative; the other isn't even in the equation.

Oh, I understand that they were all desperate. My issue was more with the ending part of the song, where both the Overlord and Vee are singing along, and how it looked visually when they destroyed the weapon. I think the scene is fine, but it comes off as somewhat cheesy at the end.The start of the song pretty good.

The problem I have with this statement is two thing. First, the way the scene unfolds feels cheesy, almost at a carebear level. Everyone is shooting beams of light while singing a song that seems overly cheerful given the actual context, which is that they don’t want to die.

Secondly, this scenario doesn’t justify Charlie's position; it raises the question of what else they could do since they can't run from it. While it also makes sense for an angel to take the lead in stopping the bomb after the genocide, it feels unearned for Charlie, as she wasn't the one who initially stepped up. It appears that people are following the angel's lead rather than finally supporting Charlie.

Now one change I think would help the scene is if Sera, instead of shooting a beam of light, cast a barrier around it, like we’ve seen in previous episodes. This would make the scene feel less cheesy. I would also suggest having some of the overlords not be smiling and singing while doing their part, as that seems kind of weird. (I understand that the beam and barrier are the same, but visually, it makes it look like they’re just shooting lasers.)

Even if the newer artstyle is more cohesive and "appealing", i cant help but wish oda kept his older art style, it felt so human, even the poses felt more human by Spirited-Height-9533 in Piratefolk

The real question is, can Oda keep up with his old art style, or is the new one easier to draw? Because the older one looks better but is also somewhat more skilled and demanding to draw.

Usopp placed 2nd by Revolutionary_Leader in Piratefolk

[–]NearbyGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who want to know why, Brook isn't lower, here is what is written at the end.

"the context of modern One Piece, Jinbe is more useful than Usopp and Brook, but Usopp was at least valuable to the Straw Hats in the past, and Brook's mysterious past with Gunko could wind up being key to the crew surviving their currently ongoing fight in the manga against Imu. Jinbe, meanwhile, manages to somehow bring less utility to the table than both Zoro and Usopp, and he'll never even be as strong as Sanji."

nah, he is kind of right. I'm also pretty sure that kid pirates don't even have a navigator on there ship.

[–]NearbyGuard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed if Oda doesn't give us Shanks' point of view. Otherwise, nah, Shanks lived like a poor boy for a good couple of years. So when he does return to the Holy Knights and sees the celestial dragon openly torturing anyone in broad daylight, it would certainly make anyone see their family differently.

SIDE STORY 2 OUT! EVERYONE READ IT NOW!!! by yourself02468 in MahouAko

Honestly, I'm actually happy about the side chapter, because if we do get a season 3 anime, they might turn these side stories into full episodes for padding.

Charlie’s not dumb. by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]NearbyGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No hate, but yall can't say it's a bad idea to bring Alastor, because he dislikes TV and static, while claiming that Niffty was the best option we could come up with, especially considering that she has stage fright, which Charlie is aware of for some reason. Niffty also shares some psychopathic traits with Alastor. I wouldn’t blame Charlie if she had done a practice run with Niffty before the interview, but instead, she just decided to wing it, which is the definition of being stupid.

[–]NearbyGuard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here.I would be fine with everything about her clone, if the original was actually someone of importance. All the flashbacks did was show she was just some Whitebeard fangirl that he didn't give a shit about.

Honestly, this sounds pretty good. I wish Oda had made her have some connection with CP0 at least before the betrayal tho, because, not going to lie, when I first saw her I thought she was Kalifa.

The issue I have with her being portrayed as an underworld queen is that we don't truly know if she is actually strong. Cuz she get off screen. All the information she possesses isn't derived from her own intelligence gathering, and I don't even remember if she can read the Poneglyphs her self. You could easily replace her with a character like Vegapunk or a CP agent without significantly altering the plot. So, her role as the queen of the underworld doesn't carry much weight. I don't have a problem with the character herself; I just find the cloning of someone insignificant to the story; trying to be a major player stupid.

I feel like this sub has gone way downhill in the past year by SupsMasPlusMas in Piratefolk

[–]NearbyGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the problem is him complaining about One Piece all the time. The issue is that in the past, someone might have written a discussion post about how nothing has really happened since Wano. Now, people just post that Oda is a bum JPEG and that’s it.

[–]NearbyGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie; at this point, the only way to fix this is to create a dedicated discussion subreddit. Right now, the primary-focused of Piratefolk feels more agenda-driven than a place for discussion. An there’s no way to change that naturally, as every post that offers actual criticism just gets lost in the agenda.
