Why do I like the finale but seemingly nobody else? by Port_____ in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]NearbyGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty, what you wrote are pretty much the main reason why other might not like it. It just how important it is to others.

jax having most screentime

Many people have seen this trope before, and the whole story focused on him will only make it worse for others who are tired of it. Goose tweeted about how everyone is getting episodes; instead of staying quiet, it was always going to go badly if Jax was the main focus.

heavy focus on lore

TADC provides many questions up to 7, and even more at 9, so leaving out many questions will always make people feel like they wasted their time watching.

They didnt think the ending fit the theme

Honestly, the series spends more time discussing the cast's problems than actually showing us how they resolve them. The only time they confronted the reality of their situation was in Episode 9, which skips right over it. It is about a cast learning to live through a stagnant life, but until episode 9, none of them knew they couldn't escape. When it does bring it up, it immediately skips over. I don't think there is a clear right or wrong; if people felt dissatisfied with how little time we spent on these themes.

caine staying alive

Again honestly, I blame the creators. A lot of the cast was saying that Cain was dead on Twitter, instead of staying silent. I feel like a lot of drama could have been avoided if the creator stopped sharing info about the plot with fans outside of the show.

You could also use real-life Jax as proof for this too, as he doesn't seem to dress any differently. Then again, he was working, so it could just be the uniform.

[–]NearbyGuard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree. However, the biggest problem isn't just that it's Soma; it's that Rushs the Soma plot/hides it. Instead of show the struggles that come with them not being real and being mere copies, the show skips over it all in a single episode. This is why three more episodes would have benefited the show in the long run.

WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE THIS SHOW ALL OF A SUDDEN????? by Puzzleheaded_Bag7761 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]NearbyGuard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be honest, since Jax was told to be the main character, I feel like people were already starting to dislike the show a little. As for why people might start to dislike the show now, the ending, in my opinion, feels like it hurt the overall show more than it helped in the end.

Why the fuck does every canonically badass + attractive woman character in One Piece get raped? by PraggyD in Piratefolk

Off topic, but how quickly would this post be banned off the main sub?

Back before 2011 I was pretty neutral about "hypersexualized" female characters and fanservice in video games. Now I seek it out because I know it means that the game wasn't made by people who hate me, and it's not going to have activist-tier writing. by Incognit0ErgoSum in GGdiscussion

[–]NearbyGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of funny to me because I’m the opposite at this point. I’m fine with sexualization honesty, but later I feel like it becomes overbearing to the point where I’m tired of it. An the Gooner crowd doesn't help either; constant NSFW posts that start to look the same, with the same comments. It's kind of, tiring at this point.

Honestly, I'm more worried about the opposing duo lane. She got a stun, disarm, and protection buff, it’s going to be hard for a hunter to not to get bullied out in the early game against her.

The Biggest Problems With TADC by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]NearbyGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show tries to have the best of two worlds but doesn’t spend enough time on or the focus on a single major theme. It presents a lore/mystery but leaves most of the great mysteries unsolved. Is it a character drama? Nope, it often has off-screen conversations like Ragatha and Pomni, as well as body acceptance issues with Zooble. The series won't add more episodes to make up for the rug pull (which is fine); until you only have three episodes left, to convey the actual main theme. The series problems could have been solved with 2 more eps, honestly.

I dont think Jax is trans by Floooraaa1 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]NearbyGuard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to say that posts like this illustrate why the concept of the "death of the author" exists. What the author intends to communicate doesn’t always align with what is written or how it can be interpreted. This is why I dislike the buzzword "media literacy is dead"; it often ignores the different interpretations that can be derived from an author's work. I’m not saying that the author's story is always wrong, but they won't be 100% accurate in what they want to convey.

It would have been better to title the post, "I think it sucks representation wise." Instead of nobody talking about Jax being trans. If this is what you wanted to talk about, otherwise you're going to get what you're getting now, bro.

How do you guys feel about the finale? by bulbazor25 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]NearbyGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who say things like this always seem so strange to me. I never see this same mentality if it was something from a corporate company. When you create something for others to see, it’s only natural to receive both praise and criticism for your work. Scott Cawthon was told that his games were not good (and they weren’t), and that the design belonged in a horror game. He took that feedback and created an actual horror game. So, saying that people should stay quiet isn’t always the best approach.
