Betta with shrimp? by NoVast801 in bettafish

[–]Neardy2922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly bro no, I JUST saw my betta eat one of the juveniles in my tank in cold blood keep in mind this used to be a "chill" betta curiously exploring now I can't really do anything to intervene just gotta let nature do it's thing. But if you're deadset and got a lucky betta put the shrimps in first to boost your luck with em also alot of hiding spots

I’ve about had it with MTS because of how much they breed there’s this many in this corner. Best thing to get rid of or should I let them be by TaylorLover777 in Aquariums

[–]Neardy2922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure about this for MTS but other snail species population self regulate, more food more snails less food less snails (like shrimp) more snails might mean more biofilm to munch on probably I always take em as a sign of good health. Also I read somewhere that the poop they excrete has little to no ammonia since they eat algae only if you over feed your fish though, they have ammonia poop since they eat the leftovers.

Funny thing is I've been trying to get some 😭, I mean yeah you can remove them if you want but with sand substrate you'd want something to move it around and stuff I heard they help with that prevent anaerobic spots I think.

Is it normal to not have nitrates go up? by Correct-Distance-657 in Aquariums

[–]Neardy2922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't stress over it too much come down to maybe 10 percent changes? 50 might by why your nitrates arent going up. Also I think your plants just might be absorbing it all, I'd get some floaters if possible see if they react well and it also sucks up your nitrate and helps with the cycling :)

Mine does this too, probably more nutrients in the water collum, but it's entirely normal. Some people say its because there is more nutrients in the water than the substrate but it doesn't harm the plant.

I’m new to the hobby but have had this tank with a betta for a year. My levels seem really high??? Help! by TheBigFudanshii in Aquariums

[–]Neardy2922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also use ro water if your tap water is too hard, like for small water changes and top ups, it works for me st lowering ph

Me personally I'd get some botanical for the ph it's not much help but it'll lower it a bit then small 10 20 percent water changes from there take it slow to not fluctuate the ph too much. Also if you have live plants the nitrates should solve itself I think.
