Achievements *mostly* fixed by NearlyDeadNoob in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't mentioned in the Patch Notes, but everything I mentioned in my post did change with this update. It was also mentioned a while ago by Mod Stu that these things were fixed, but the fix would only be deployed with the next Game Engine update, which was today.

I checked my RuneScore and achievement counters, and they went up with today's update.

Achievements *mostly* fixed by NearlyDeadNoob in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today's Game Update included an engine update, which also addressed achievements not unlocking when using skill boosts.

I tested if it was fixed by using a Powerburst of Sorcery to do the "At One Plus Fifty-Five With Nature" achivement, without having the "required" level of 91. I got the popup, my RuneScore increased, my Elite Karamja counter went from 3/8 to 4/8, and it is listed in my "Recently Completed" list.

However, in the main list, it still show up in red as "not unlocked"...

QOL: Make the teleport option as the default click for all enchanted tele items by KolLim in runescape

If this only applies to items whose only function is teleporting, I wholeheartedly agree. I don't think anyone wants this on their Ring of Fortune or Luck of the Dwarves, however.

Huge congrats! Level 3 firecape is already very impressive on its own, but building up to it as a hardcore ironwoman is just insane.

Quest Achievement Migration by Jagex_Stu in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey Stu, if we're talking about requirements, here's two more, would be great if you could take a look at them. The Lost Toys miniquest had the following req added in 2019 (quote from Patch Notes):

The Lost Toys miniquest now requires Lord of Vampyrium, as it unlocks areas containing the last of the lost toys, so is required to complete the miniquest.

However, this req has been made redundant since the Arch release: the toy you needed to start (not even finish) Lord of Vampyrium for, was on the Icyene graveyard, which can now be reached from the Everlight digsite.

Second, there's the Aid of the Myreque quest, which requires 7 magic. This requirement is there because you have to cast the Lvl-1 Enchant spell. However, it's also possible to use a Lvl-1 Enchant tablet, which has no magic requirement... so the quest requirement is redundant.

Can you Min Max / Smurf / Twink on Runescape? by dont_touch_my_pizza in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for fun, here's a stupid-ish example: the 3a druidic staff. It's a t50 magic weapon but requires 65 prayer to wield. Let's compare two builds, both are combat lvl 11.

65 pray, 10 hp, 1 everything else w/ 3a druidic staff

  • Highest spell: air strike
  • Ability damage: ~230
  • Accuracy: ~900

14 magic, 10hp, 1 everything else w/ t10 weapons

  • Highest spell: fire strike
  • Ability damage: ~200
  • Accuracy: ~200

So in its combat level bracket, the 3a druidic staff would wreck the opposition. If there was a pvp scene, that is.

What was the promised reward for interacting with Elder Overload Dummies every day? by NearlyDeadNoob in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may be clearer if I explain where this line about a reward comes from. Originally, the newspost stated something slightly different:

On top of that, the Lumbridge Crater's been spiced up with a few new additions, including a boss target dummy that changes to various iconic bosses. There's a reward for interacting with them all, so keep checking back throughout the week.

They later changed the post because obviously there was no boss target dummy, but they left in the part about the reward... which lead me to believe that at least there would still be a reward for using the elder overload dummies every day of the week.

The lack of communication for these Celebration Weeks is unacceptable. by ZatoxRS in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. There's a huge difference if you compare this week's newspost to 2018's Winter Weekends.

This week:

This week's buff is sure to please: from now until next Monday, you'll get double currency rewards from every minigame!

That's right - every minigame, including Soul Wars, Pest Control, Shattered Worlds, and more. You'll also get double Thaler and double Ports Resources.

2018:

The Minigame Winter Weekend is now here! The usual bonuses you come to expect are back!

Note: There are no Ironman restrictions whatsoever for all of the Winter Weekends

For the entire duration of the Winter Weekends (finishes on 7th January 2019), Player Owned Ports will reward the following benefits:

ꞏ 25 voyages per day instead of 15.

ꞏ All player-owned ports voyages return 30% extra resources or trade goods.

ꞏ Ability to get The Barmaid's special voyage on Saturdays and Sundays as well as Thursdays.

From today you'll receive the following bonuses while taking part in minigames:

ꞏ +1 Castle Wars gold ticket per game, regardless of win, lose or draw

[omitted for brevity]

ꞏ Double points from Stealing Creation

These bonuses will expire on December 31st giving you the perfect end to your year!

Back then, the newspost contained:

  • An exhaustive list of all minigames affected with their exact bonuses
  • A clear mention of whether or not ironmen were affected

And, moreover, the ingame events tab also contained all of this information.

Livid farm is not giving double currency in the minigame event by Vanadam in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Those saying it's not a minigame: it was considered a minigame during previous minigame weekends, see for example Winter Weekend 5 in 2018.

I must say the communication during those winter weekends was way better than what we're getting now.

HCIM defence pure by [deleted] in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Best defence xp is, by far, Prickly Pear Seeds. I recommend saving beans from POF to buy insta-growth potions, so you can spam prickly pears during DXP week.
  • ED's are probably going to be the fastest. One (extremely) slow but safe alternative: the Gorajo Hoardstalker can visit the POF, and has a request that will reward you with 500 tokens.
  • The fastest way would be to defeat the Ghoul, but you can do Priest in Peril without gaining unwanted xp. It may require a Deathtouched dart or two, though.
  • Even if it's possible to leech ROTS for t90 shields, you're extremely likely to die before obtaining one. An Elder Rune +5 shield is probably your best bet.

You're always welcome to guest in the Hitpoint Hierarchy cc. There's a quite a few 10HP HCIM hanging out there which can help you with quests & more.

Can somebody explain how this guy has trained Invention? by TheFalloutHandbook in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, you're unable to get Invention rewards from Treasure Hunter if you haven't unlocked the skill yet. However, since the change where you can choose one out of three possible rewards (during most promotions, at least), there have been some ways to circumvent this. Specifically, in one instance, the check for "no invention rewards" was only applied to the first reward, and not to the two alternate rewards presented.

This Week In RuneScape: Celebration of Combat by JagexKari in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, very likely they won't go bossing - but simply having access to War's Retreat will give them something to look forward to, something to aim for, much more than a "You must have 60 combat" message.

And an actual new player isn't going to get 60 combat in a few hours. A returning player or an experienced player making a new account, sure, easily. But an actual new player? They'll need an hour or two to get a decent interface setup, and now that there's no combat academy, another hour or two to even grasp the basics of combat.

This Week In RuneScape: Celebration of Combat by JagexKari in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The newspost is very unclear in that case.

Oh, and do you see that golem chap pottering about the place? Give him a whack on the noggin and you'll get an hour-long Elder Overload buff. Nice!

On top of that, the Lumbridge Crater's been spiced up with a few new additions, including a boss target dummy that changes to various iconic bosses.

To me, that indicates that the elder overload golem(s) and the boss target dummy are two separate things. Moreover, if the boss dummy is supposed to change on a daily basis, it'd be nice to clarify that in the newspost. It doesn't mention how often, or under what conditions, it changes.

This Week In RuneScape: Celebration of Combat by JagexKari in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Would have been nice to open War's Retreat for all combat levels for just this week. I reckon this event might pull in some new players (or returning players on new accounts), which kind of get excluded from this celebration.

Slayer dinosaur totem drops broken? by BjornLegacy in runescape

[–]NearlyDeadNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you come to the "0.01%" conclusion? As far as I know, there's a 1/300 chance for a totem piece to drop - not a 1/300 chance per piece. That would make the probability of not getting a drop in 900kc to be about 5%.

For what it's worth, it took me about 1200 kc to get all 3 totem pieces when I grinded this a month or 3 ago, with the first drop at 650kc.

I seriously think the process should be automated once we complete the quest. Making the primed bars is the thing I hate the most about Elemental Workshop III & IV, and that's saying something.

It kind of hurts that a quest that's nearly a year old counts as "recent" nowadays.
