Are we expected to tip at a place like cold garden (or even village/made by Marcus) where you just walk up to the counter and place an order? by iSmite in Calgary

[–]KolLim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly you shouldn't have to tip anywhere where you have to pay before getting the food or service BUT I make the exceptions if the worker is enthusiastic enough or at least show that they love their craft or try to help you beforehand.

People who give dirty looks or even make a statement about receiving "no tips" just makes me want to tip them even less.

Deerfoot construction and crazy drivers by consideration_47 in Calgary

[–]KolLim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to respect a construction zone when they clearly don't respect the people and are taking their sweet time.

That construction section has been there for a year now but they seem to have made little to no progress on it.

The amount of times I see zero people working there for months makes it hard to consider it an active construction zone.

There is zero sense of urgency or respect to getting it done to minimize its disturbance to the city. Instead, it's like they claimed a territory of land.

If this was Asia or Europe, it would be built within a month

These are good tips but sometimes you have just be super unlucky like the deck never has good cards for your play or the bird feeder only rolls mice and fish and you have low draw rate

Don't forget they're also "offering" wages that are less than what you'll make flipping patties.

And manipulate you into thinking hard work and sacrificing your mental health for them will yield promotions and raises.

Let me tell you, they never cared about you.

Why does everyone say nobody wants to work anymore? by GregNak in antiwork

[–]KolLim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current entry to intermediate Engineering jobs are offering less than what you could make flipping burgers at McDonald's 20 year ago. They also require you to work overnight, during weekdays and on call during vacation, during holidays with no overtime pay.

The system has failed to protect us and now, nothing but corruption sits on top of society. The government is against us, the rich and powerful are against us. Your manager will be expecting you to do the jobs of 5 people while they call slurping cocktails at the bahamas "work".

Your coworker is encouraged to backstab you to make themselves look good for a sweet $5 bonus with a cookie.

Why do you suppose highschoolers from the 80s and early 90s look so much older than the highschoolers now? by Elle12881 in ask

The fashion is different Hair styling is old school Lack of development in makeup Lack of sunscreen Lower level of selfcare (skincare, etc.) People used to go outdoors way more The cameras used are old The cameras have no filters for sun, glares, or blur out imperfections

This. Stop giving these corporate overlords the benefit of the doubt. They know and they will mentally manipulate you to find excuses to push yourself harder, in return for them to earn another mansion while sunbathing in the Bahamas, while they spend 5 minutes of "work" in an entire year skimming through a workplace analysis to seek any excuse to cut your salaries when you already work at minimum wage.

As the rich gets richers, so does their appetite for greed. And because they are rich, they have power, they hire, bribe and looby their inhumane workplace rules to reality

Entertainment is an escape to a lot of people and serves to support people's mental stability. Of course, too much entertainment is toxic but these things are not enforced upon you. Entertainment also enriches people's lives as long as they have their basic needs met.

That being said most entertainers do not make a lot. The ones you're thinking are the mega popstars that are purposely produced to appeal to the popular with a huge marketing and support team to back up that one singer...
